Jeremiah 11
1 The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:
Palabra que vino a Jeremías de parte de Yahvé, diciendo:
2 'Hear ye the words of this covenant, and ye have spoken unto the men of Judah, and unto the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
“Oigan las palabras de este pacto, y hablen a los hombres de Judá y a los habitantes de Jerusalén;
3 and thou hast said unto them, Thus said Jehovah God of Israel: Cursed [is] the man who doth not obey the words of this covenant,
y díganles: Dice Yahvé, el Dios de Israel ‘Maldito el hombre que no escuche las palabras de este pacto,
4 That I commanded your fathers, In the day of My bringing them out from the land of Egypt, Out of the iron furnace, saying, Hearken to My voice, and ye have done them, According to all that I command you, And ye have been to Me for a people, And I am to you for God,
que ordené a vuestros padres el día en que los saqué de la tierra de Egipto, del horno de hierro,’ diciendo: ‘Obedeced mi voz y ponedlas por obra, según todo lo que os mando; así seréis mi pueblo, y yo seré vuestro Dios;
5 In order to establish the oath that I have sworn to your fathers, To give to them a land flowing with milk and honey, as this day. And I answer and say, 'Amen, O Jehovah.'
para que se cumpla el juramento que hice a vuestros padres, de darles una tierra que fluye leche y miel,’ como es hoy.” Entonces respondí y dije: “Amén, Yahvé”.
6 And Jehovah saith unto me, 'Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying: Hear ye the words of this covenant, And ye have done them.
El Señor me dijo: “Proclamad todas estas palabras en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalén, diciendo: “Oíd las palabras de este pacto y ponedlas por obra.
7 For I certainly testified against your fathers, In the day of My bringing them up out of the land of Egypt — till this day, Rising early and testifying, saying, Hearken to My voice,
Porque el día que los saqué de la tierra de Egipto, protesté con insistencia ante vuestros padres, hasta el día de hoy, madrugando y protestando, diciendo: “Obedeced mi voz”.
8 And they have not hearkened nor inclined their ear, And they walk each in the stubbornness of their evil heart, And I bring on them all the words of this covenant, That I commanded to do, and they did not.'
Pero no obedecieron, ni volvieron su oído, sino que todos anduvieron en la terquedad de su malvado corazón. Por eso hice recaer sobre ellos todas las palabras de este pacto que les mandé hacer, pero no las cumplieron”.
9 And Jehovah saith unto me: 'A conspiracy is found in the men of Judah, And in the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
El Señor me dijo: “Se ha encontrado una conspiración entre los hombres de Judá y entre los habitantes de Jerusalén.
10 They have turned back to the iniquities of their first fathers, Who refused to hear My words, And they have gone after other gods to serve them, The house of Israel, and the house of Judah, Have made void My covenant, that I made with their fathers.
Se han vuelto a las iniquidades de sus antepasados, que se negaron a escuchar mis palabras. Se han ido tras otros dioses para servirles. La casa de Israel y la casa de Judá han roto mi pacto que hice con sus padres.
11 Therefore thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am bringing in unto them evil, That they are not able to go out from, And they have cried unto Me, And I do not hearken unto them.
Por eso dice el Señor: “He aquí que yo traigo sobre ellos un mal del que no podrán escapar; y ellos clamarán a mí, pero yo no los escucharé.
12 And the cities of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem have gone, And they have cried unto the gods, To whom they are making perfume, And they give no deliverance at all to them, In the time of their vexation.
Entonces las ciudades de Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén irán a clamar a los dioses a los que ofrecen incienso, pero no los salvarán en absoluto en el momento de su aflicción.
13 For — the number of thy cities have been thy gods, O Judah, And — the number of the streets of Jerusalem Ye have placed altars to a shameful thing, Altars to make perfume to Baal.
Porque según el número de tus ciudades están tus dioses, Judá; y según el número de las calles de Jerusalén has levantado altares a la cosa vergonzosa, altares para quemar incienso a Baal.’
14 And thou, thou dost not pray for this people, Nor dost thou lift up for them cry and prayer, For I do not hearken in the time of their calling unto Me for their vexation.
“Por tanto, no reces por este pueblo. No levantes gritos ni oraciones por ellos, porque no los escucharé en el momento en que clamen a mí a causa de su angustia.
15 What — to My beloved in My house, Her doing wickedness with many, And the holy flesh do pass over from thee? When thou dost evil, then thou exultest.
¿Qué tiene que hacer mi amado en mi casa, ya que se ha comportado lascivamente con muchos, y la carne sagrada ha pasado de ti? Cuando haces el mal, entonces te alegras”.
16 'An olive, green, fair, of goodly fruit,' Hath Jehovah called thy name, At the noise of a great tumult He hath kindled fire against it, And broken have been its thin branches.
Yahvé llamó tu nombre: “Olivo verde”, hermosa con buenos frutos”. Con el ruido de un gran rugido ha encendido el fuego en él, y sus ramas están rotas.
17 And Jehovah of Hosts, who is planting thee, Hath spoken evil concerning thee, For the evil of the house of Israel, and of the house of Judah, That they have done to themselves, To provoke Me to anger, to make perfume to Baal.
Porque el Señor de los Ejércitos, que te plantó, ha pronunciado el mal contra ti, a causa de la maldad de la casa de Israel y de la casa de Judá, que se han hecho a sí mismas provocando mi ira al ofrecer incienso a Baal.
18 And, O Jehovah, cause me to know, and I know, Then Thou hast showed me their doings.
El Señor me lo hizo saber, y yo lo conocí. Luego me mostró sus acciones.
19 And I [am] as a trained lamb brought to slaughter, And I have not known That against me they have devised devices: We destroy the tree with its food, and cut him off From the land of the living, And his name is not remembered again.
Pero yo era como un cordero manso que es llevado al matadero. No sabía que habían urdido planes contra mí, diciendo “Destruyamos el árbol con sus frutos, y lo separemos de la tierra de los vivos, para que su nombre no sea más recordado”.
20 And O Jehovah of Hosts, judging righteousness, Trying reins and heart, I do see Thy vengeance against them, For unto Thee I have revealed my cause.'
Pero, Yahvé de los Ejércitos, que juzga con justicia, que pone a prueba el corazón y la mente, Veré tu venganza sobre ellos; porque a ti te he revelado mi causa.
21 Therefore, thus said Jehovah concerning the men of Anathoth, who are seeking thy life, saying: Do not prophesy in the name of Jehovah, And thou dost not die by our hands.
“Por lo tanto, Yahvé dice acerca de los hombres de Anatot, que buscan tu vida, diciendo: ‘No profetizarás en nombre de Yahvé, para que no mueras por nuestra mano’ —
22 Therefore, thus said Jehovah of Hosts: 'Lo, I am seeing after them, The chosen ones die by sword, Their sons and their daughters die by famine,
Por lo tanto, Yahvé de los Ejércitos dice: ‘He aquí que los castigaré. Los jóvenes morirán a espada. Sus hijos y sus hijas morirán de hambre.
23 And they have no remnant, For I bring evil unto the men of Anathoth, The year of their inspection!'
No les quedará ningún remanente, porque traeré el mal sobre los hombres de Anatot, el año de su visita’”.
