James 3
1 Many teachers become not, my brethren, having known that greater judgment we shall receive,
Ndugu zangu, siyo wengi wenu mnapaswa kuwa walimu, mkijua kwamba tutapokea hukumu kubwa zaidi.
2 for we all make many stumbles; if any one in word doth not stumble, this one [is] a perfect man, able to bridle also the whole body;
Kwa kuwa wote tunakosea katika njia nyingi. Kama yeyote huwa hajikwai katika maneno yake, huyo ni mtu mkamilifu, aweza kudhibiti mwili wake wote pia.
3 lo, the bits we put into the mouths of the horses for their obeying us, and their whole body we turn about;
Sasa kama tunaweka lijamu za farasi katika vinywa vyao wanatutii, na tunaweza kuigeuza miili yao yote.
4 lo, also the ships, being so great, and by fierce winds being driven, are led about by a very small helm, whithersoever the impulse of the helmsman doth counsel,
Tambua pia kwamba meli, ingawa ni kubwa na husukumwa na upepo mkali, zinaongozwa kwa usukani mdogo sana kwenda popote anakotaka nahodha.
5 so also the tongue is a little member, and doth boast greatly; lo, a little fire how much wood it doth kindle!
Vivyo hivyo, ulimi ni kiungo kidogo cha mwili, lakini hujisifia makuu sana. Angalia msitu mkubwa unavyoweza kuwashwa kwa cheche ndogo ya moto!
6 and the tongue [is] a fire, the world of the unrighteousness, so the tongue is set in our members, which is spotting our whole body, and is setting on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by the gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
Ulimi pia ni moto, ni ulimwengu wa uovu, umewekwa miongoni mwa viungo vya mwili wetu, ambao hunajisi mwili wote na huiweka juu ya moto njia ya maisha, na wenyewe kuchomwa moto wa kuzimu. (Geenna g1067)
7 For every nature, both of beasts and of fowls, both of creeping things and things of the sea, is subdued, and hath been subdued, by the human nature,
Kila aina ya mnyama wa polini, ndege, kitambaacho na kiumbe cha baharini kinadhibitiwa na wanadamu.
8 and the tongue no one of men is able to subdue, [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison,
lakini hakuna mwanadamu hata mmoja ambaye anaweza kudhibiti ulimi; ni uovu usiotulia, umejaa sumu ya kufisha.
9 with it we do bless the God and Father, and with it we do curse the men made according to the similitude of God;
Kwa ulimi twamtukuza Bwana na Baba yetu, na kwa huo twawalaani watu ambao wameumbwa kwa mfano wa Mungu.
10 out of the same mouth doth come forth blessing and cursing; it doth not need, my brethren, these things so to happen;
Katika kinywa hichohicho husema maneno ya baraka na laana. Ndugu zangu mambo haya hayapaswi kuwa.
11 doth the fountain out of the same opening pour forth the sweet and the bitter?
Je, kisima kimoja huweza kutoa maji matamu na machungu?
12 is a fig-tree able, my brethren, olives to make? or a vine figs? so no fountain salt and sweet water [is able] to make.
Ndugu zangu, Je, mti wa mtini unaweza kuzaa matunda ya mzeituni, au mzabibu unazaa matunda ya mtini? Wala chemchemi ya maji chumvi haitoi maji yasio na chumvi.
13 Who [is] wise and intelligent among you? let him shew out of the good behaviour his works in meekness of wisdom,
Ni nani miongoni mwenu aliye na hekima na ufahamu? Hebu mtu huyo na aoneshe maisha mema katika kazi zake kwa unyenyekevu utokanao na hekima.
14 and if bitter zeal ye have, and rivalry in your heart, glory not, nor lie against the truth;
Lakini kama mnao wivu mkali na nia ya ubinafsi mioyoni mwenu, msijivune na kusema uongo mkiupinga ukweli.
15 this wisdom is not descending from above, but earthly, physical, demon-like,
Hii siyo hekima ile ishukayo kutoka juu, lakini badala yake ni ya kidunia, si ya kiroho, na ni ya kipepo.
16 for where zeal and rivalry [are], there is insurrection and every evil matter;
Kwa kuwa palipo na wivu na ubinafsi upo, kuna vurugu na kila matendo maovu
17 and the wisdom from above, first, indeed, is pure, then peaceable, gentle, easily entreated, full of kindness and good fruits, uncontentious, and unhypocritical: —
Lakini hekima itokayo juu, kwanza ni safi, kisha kupenda amani, upole na ukarimu, yenye kujaa rehema na matunda mema, bila kupendelea watu fulani, na kweli.
18 and the fruit of the righteousness in peace is sown to those making peace.
Na tunda la haki hupandwa katika amani kwa wale ambao wanatenda mambo ya amani.
