Isaiah 9
1 As the former time made light The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, So the latter hath honoured the way of the sea, Beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
Denn es wird wohl eine andere Mühe sein, die ihnen Angst tut, denn zur vorigen Zeit war, da es leicht zuging im Lande Sebulon und im Lande Naphthali, und hernach schwerer ward am Wege des Meers, diesseit des Jordans, in der Heiden Galiläa.
2 The people who are walking in darkness Have seen a great light, Dwellers in a land of death-shade, Light hath shone upon them.
Das Volk, so im Finstern wandelt, siehet ein großes Licht, und über die da wohnen im finstern Lande, scheinet es helle.
3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, Thou hast made great its joy, They have joyed before Thee as the joy in harvest, As [men] rejoice in their apportioning spoil.
Du machest der Heiden viel, damit machest du der Freuden nicht viel. Vor dir aber wird man sich freuen, wie man sich freuet in der Ernte, wie man fröhlich ist, wenn man Beute austeilet.
4 Because the yoke of its burden, And the staff of its shoulder, the rod of its exactor, Thou hast broken as [in] the day of Midian.
Denn du hast das Joch ihrer Last und die Rute ihrer Schulter und den Stecken ihres Treibers zerbrochen wie zur Zeit Midians.
5 For every battle of a warrior [is] with rushing, and raiment rolled in blood, And it hath been for burning — fuel of fire.
Denn aller Krieg mit Ungestüm und blutig Kleid wird verbrannt und mit Feuer verzehret werden.
6 For a Child hath been born to us, A Son hath been given to us, And the princely power is on his shoulder, And He doth call his name Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.
Denn uns ist ein Kind geboren, ein Sohn ist uns gegeben, welches HERRSChaft ist auf seiner Schulter; und er heißt Wunderbar, Rat, Kraft, Held, Ewig-Vater, Friedefürst,
7 To the increase of the princely power, And of peace, there is no end, On the throne of David, and on his kingdom, To establish it, and to support it, In judgment and in righteousness, Henceforth, even unto the age, The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts doth this.
auf daß seine HERRSChaft groß werde und des Friedens kein Ende auf dem Stuhl Davids und seinem Königreiche, daß er's zurichte und stärke mit Gericht und Gerechtigkeit von nun an bis in Ewigkeit. Solches wird tun der Eifer des HERRN Zebaoth.
8 A word hath the Lord sent into Jacob, And it hath fallen in Israel.
Der HERR hat ein Wort gesandt in Jakob und ist in Israel gefallen,
9 And the people have known — all of it, Ephraim, and the inhabitant of Samaria, In pride and in greatness of heart, saying,
daß es sollen inne werden alles Volk Ephraim und die Bürger zu Samaria, die da sagen in Hochmut und stolzem Sinn:
10 'Bricks have fallen, and hewn work we build, Sycamores have been cut down, and cedars we renew.'
Ziegelsteine sind gefallen, aber wir wollen's mit Werkstücken wieder bauen; man hat Maulbeerbäume abgehauen, so wollen wir Zedern an die Stätte setzen.
11 And Jehovah setteth the adversaries of Rezin on high above him, And his enemies he joineth together,
Denn der HERR wird des Rezins Kriegsvolk wider sie erhöhen und ihre Feinde zuhauf rotten:
12 Aram from before, and Philistia from behind, And they devour Israel with the whole mouth. With all this not turned back hath His anger, And still His hand is stretched out.
die Syrer vorne her und die Philister von hinten zu, daß sie Israel fressen mit vollem Maul. In dem allem läßt sein Zorn noch nicht ab, seine Hand ist noch ausgereckt.
13 And the people hath not turned back unto Him who is smiting it, And Jehovah of Hosts they have not sought.
So kehret sich das Volk auch nicht zu dem, der es schlägt, und fragen nichts nach dem HERRN Zebaoth.
14 And Jehovah cutteth off from Israel head and tail, Branch and reed — the same day,
Darum wird der HERR abhauen von Israel beide, Kopf und Schwanz, beide, Ast und Stumpf, auf einen Tag.
15 Elder, and accepted of face, he [is] the head, Prophet, teacher of falsehood, he [is] the tail.
Die alten ehrlichen Leute sind der Kopf; die Propheten aber, so falsch lehren, sind der Schwanz.
16 And the eulogists of this people are causing to err, And its eulogised ones are consumed.
Denn die Leiter dieses Volks sind Verführer, und die sich leiten lassen, sind verloren.
17 Therefore, over its young men the Lord rejoiceth not, And its orphans, and its widows He pitieth not, For every one [is] profane, and an evil doer, And every mouth is speaking folly. With all this not turned back hath His anger, And still His hand is stretched out.
Darum kann sich der HERR über ihre junge Mannschaft nicht freuen, noch ihrer Waisen und Witwen erbarmen; denn sie sind allzumal Heuchler und Böse, und aller Mund redet Torheit. In dem allem läßt sein Zorn noch nicht ab, seine Hand ist noch ausgereckt.
18 For burned as a fire hath wickedness, Brier and thorn it devoureth, And it kindleth in thickets of the forest, And they lift themselves up, an exaltation of smoke!
Denn das gottlose Wesen ist angezündet wie Feuer und verzehret Dornen und Hecken und brennet wie im dicken Walde und gibt hohen Rauch.
19 In the wrath of Jehovah of Hosts Hath the land been consumed, And the people is as fuel of fire; A man on his brother hath no pity,
Denn im Zorn des HERRN Zebaoth ist das Land verfinstert, daß das Volk ist wie Speise des Feuers; keiner schonet des andern.
20 And cutteth down on the right, and hath been hungry, And he devoureth on the left, And they have not been satisfied, Each the flesh of his own arm they devour.
Rauben sie zur Rechten, so leiden sie Hunger; essen sie zur Linken, so werden sie nicht satt. Ein jeglicher frißt das Fleisch seines Arms:
21 Manasseh — Ephraim, and Ephraim — Manasseh, Together they [are] against Judah, With all this not turned back hath His anger. And still His hand is stretched out!
Manasse den Ephraim, Ephraim den Manasse und sie beide miteinander wider Juda. In dem allem läßt sein Zorn nicht ab, seine Hand ist noch ausgereckt.
