Isaiah 40
1 Comfort ye, comfort ye, My people, saith your God.
| خدای اسرائیل می‌فرماید: «تسلی دهید! قوم مرا تسلی دهید! |
2 Speak to the heart of Jerusalem, and call to her, That her warfare hath been completed, That accepted hath been her punishment, That she hath received from the hand of Jehovah Double for all her sins.
| اهالی اورشلیم را دلداری دهید و به آنان بگویید که روزهای سخت ایشان به سر آمده و گناهانشان بخشیده شده، زیرا من به اندازهٔ گناهانشان آنها را تنبیه کرده‌ام.» |
3 A voice is crying — in a wilderness — Prepare ye the way of Jehovah, Make straight in a desert a highway to our God.
| صدایی می‌شنوم که می‌گوید: «راهی از وسط بیابان برای آمدن خداوند آماده کنید. راه او را در صحرا صاف کنید. |
4 Every valley is raised up, And every mountain and hill become low, And the crooked place hath become a plain, And the entangled places a valley.
| دره‌ها را پر کنید؛ کوهها و تپه‌ها را هموار سازید؛ راههای کج را راست و جاده‌های ناهموار را صاف کنید. |
5 And revealed hath been the honour of Jehovah, And seen [it] have all flesh together, For the mouth of Jehovah hath spoken.
| آنگاه شکوه و جلال خداوند ظاهر خواهد شد و همهٔ مردم آن را خواهند دید. خداوند این را وعده فرموده است.» |
6 A voice is saying, 'Call,' And he said, 'What do I call?' All flesh [is] grass, and all its goodliness [is] As a flower of the field:
| بار دیگر آن صدا می‌گوید: «با صدای بلند بگو!» پرسیدم: «با صدای بلند چه بگویم؟» گفت: «با صدای بلند بگو که انسان مانند علف است. تمام زیبایی او همچون گل صحراست که پژمرده می‌شود. |
7 Withered hath grass, faded the flower, For the Spirit of Jehovah blew upon it, Surely the people [is] grass;
| وقتی خدا می‌دمد علف خشک می‌شود و گل پژمرده. بله، انسان مانند علف از بین می‌رود. |
8 Withered hath grass, faded the flower, But a word of our God riseth for ever.
| گیاه خشک می‌شود و گل پژمرده می‌گردد، اما کلام خدای ما برای همیشه باقی می‌ماند.» |
9 On a high mountain get thee up, O Zion, Proclaiming tidings, Lift up with power thy voice, O Jerusalem, proclaiming tidings, Lift up, fear not, say to cities of Judah, 'Lo, your God.'
| ای قاصد خوش خبر، از قلهٔ کوه، اورشلیم را صدا کن. پیامت را با تمام قدرت اعلام کن و نترس. به شهرهای یهودا بگو: «خدای شما می‌آید!» |
10 Lo, the Lord Jehovah with strength cometh, And His arm is ruling for Him, Lo, His hire [is] with Him, and His wage before Him.
| بله، خداوند یهوه می‌آید تا با قدرت حکومت کند. پاداشش همراه او است و هر کس را مطابق اعمالش پاداش خواهد داد. |
11 As a shepherd His flock He feedeth, With His arm He gathereth lambs, And in His bosom He carrieth [them]: Suckling ones He leadeth.
| او مانند شبان، گلهٔ خود را خواهد چرانید؛ بره‌ها را در آغوش خواهد گرفت و میشها را با ملایمت هدایت خواهد کرد. |
12 Who hath measured in the hollow of his hand the waters? And the heavens by a span hath meted out, And comprehended in a measure the dust of the earth, And hath weighed in scales the mountains, And the hills in a balance?
| آیا کسی غیر از خدا می‌تواند اقیانوس را در دست نگه دارد و یا آسمان را با وجب اندازه گیرد؟ آیا کسی غیر از او می‌تواند خاک زمین را در ترازو بریزد و یا کوهها و تپه‌ها را با قَپّان وزن کند؟ |
13 Who hath meted out the Spirit of Jehovah, And, [being] His counsellor, doth teach Him!
| کیست که بتواند به روح خداوند پند دهد؟ کیست که بتواند معلم یا مشاور او باشد؟ |
14 With whom consulted He, That he causeth Him to understand? And teacheth Him in the path of judgment, And teacheth Him knowledge? And the way of understanding causeth Him to know?
| آیا او تا به حال به دیگران محتاج بوده است که به او حکمت و دانش بیاموزند و راه راست را به او یاد دهند؟ |
15 Lo, nations as a drop from a bucket, And as small dust of the balance, have been reckoned, Lo, isles as a small thing He taketh up.
| به هیچ وجه! تمام مردم جهان در برابر او مثل قطرهٔ آبی در سطل و مانند غباری در ترازو، ناچیز هستند. همهٔ جزایر دنیا برای او گردی بیش نیستند و او می‌تواند آنها را از جایشان تکان دهد. |
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, Nor its beasts sufficient for a burnt-offering.
| اگر تمام حیوانات لبنان را برای خدا قربانی کنیم باز کم است و اگر تمام جنگلهای لبنان را برای روشن کردن آتش قربانی به کار بریم باز کافی نیست. |
17 All the nations [are] as nothing before Him, Less than nothing and emptiness, They have been reckoned to Him.
| تمام قومها در نظر او هیچ هستند و ناچیز به شمار می‌آیند. |
18 And unto whom do ye liken God, And what likeness do ye compare to Him?
| چگونه می‌توان خدا را توصیف کرد؟ او را با چه چیز می‌توان مقایسه نمود؟ |
19 The graven image poured out hath a artisan, And a refiner with gold spreadeth it over, And chains of silver he is refining.
| آیا می‌توان او را با یک بت مقایسه کرد؟ بُتی که بت ساز آن را ساخته و با طلا پوشانده و به گردنش زنجیر نقره‌ای انداخته است؟ |
20 He who is poor [by] heave-offerings, A tree not rotten doth choose, A skilful artisan he seeketh for it, To establish a graven image — not moved.
| فقیری که نمی‌تواند خدایانی از طلا و نقره درست کند، درختی می‌یابد که چوبش با دوام باشد و آن را به دست صنعتگری ماهر می‌دهد تا برایش خدایی بسازد، خدایی که حتی قادر به حرکت نیست! |
21 Do ye not know — do ye not hear? Hath it not been declared from the first to you? Have ye not understood [From] the foundations of the earth?
| آیا تا به حال ندانسته‌اید و نشنیده‌اید و کسی به شما نگفته که دنیا چگونه به وجود آمده است؟ |
22 He who is sitting on the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants [are] as grasshoppers, He who is stretching out as a thin thing the heavens, And spreadeth them as a tent to dwell in.
| خدا دنیا را آفریده است؛ همان خدایی که بر فراز کرهٔ زمین نشسته و مردم روی زمین در نظر او مانند مورچه هستند. او آسمانها را مثل پرده پهن می‌کند و از آنها خیمه‌ای برای سکونت خود می‌سازد. |
23 He who is making princes become nothing, Judges of earth as emptiness hath made;
| او رهبران بزرگ دنیا را ساقط می‌کند و از بین می‌برد. |
24 Yea, they have not been planted, Yea, they have not been sown, Yea, not taking root in the earth is their stock, And also He hath blown upon them, and they wither, And a whirlwind as stubble taketh them away.
| هنوز ریشه نزده خدا بر آنها می‌دمد، و آنها پژمرده شده، مثل کاه پراکنده می‌گردند. |
25 And unto whom do ye liken Me, And [am] I equal? saith the Holy One.
| خداوند قدوس می‌پرسد: «شما مرا با چه کسی مقایسه می‌کنید؟ چه کسی می‌تواند با من برابری کند؟» |
26 Lift up on high your eyes, And see — who hath prepared these? He who is bringing out by number their host, To all of them by name He calleth, By abundance of strength (And [he is] strong in power) not one is lacking.
| به آسمانها نگاه کنید! کیست که همهٔ این ستارگان را آفریده است؟ کسی که آنها را آفریده است از آنها مثل یک لشکر سان می‌بیند، تعدادشان را می‌داند و آنها را به نام می‌خواند. قدرت او آنقدر عظیم است که نمی‌گذارد هیچ‌کدام از آنها گم شوند. |
27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob? and speakest thou, O Israel? 'My way hath been hid from Jehovah, And from my God my judgment passeth over.'
| پس، ای اسرائیل، چرا می‌گویی خداوند رنجهای مرا نمی‌بیند و با من به انصاف رفتار نمی‌کند؟ |
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard? The God of the age — Jehovah, Preparer of the ends of the earth, Is not wearied nor fatigued, There is no searching of His understanding.
| آیا تا به حال ندانسته و نشنیده‌ای که یهوه خدای سرمدی، خالق تمام دنیا هرگز درمانده و خسته نمی‌شود و هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند به عمق افکار او پی ببرد؟ |
29 He is giving power to the weary, And to those not strong He increaseth might.
| او به خستگان نیرو می‌بخشد و به ضعیفان قدرت عطا می‌کند. |
30 Even youths are wearied and fatigued, And young men utterly stumble,
| حتی جوانان هم درمانده و خسته می‌شوند و دلاوران از پای در می‌آیند، |
31 But those expecting Jehovah pass [to] power, They raise up the pinion as eagles, They run and are not fatigued, They go on and do not faint!
| اما آنانی که به خداوند امید بسته‌اند نیروی تازه می‌یابند و مانند عقاب پرواز می‌کنند؛ می‌دوند و خسته نمی‌شوند، راه می‌روند و ناتوان نمی‌گردند. |
