Isaiah 24
1 Lo, Jehovah is emptying the land, And is making it waste, And hath overturned [it on] its face, And hath scattered its inhabitants.
He aquí que el Señor vacía la tierra, la convierte en un desierto, la revuelve y dispersa a sus habitantes.
2 And it hath been — as a people so a priest, As the servant so his master, As the maid-servant so her mistress, As the buyer so the seller, As the lender so the borrower, As the usurer so he who is lifting [it] on himself.
Será como con el pueblo, así con el sacerdote; como con el siervo, así con su amo; como con la criada, así con su ama; como con el comprador, así con el vendedor; como con el acreedor, así con el deudor; como con el que cobra intereses, así con el que los da.
3 Utterly emptied is the land, and utterly spoiled, For Jehovah hath spoken this word:
La tierra será totalmente vaciada y asolada; porque Yahvé ha dicho esta palabra.
4 Mourned, faded hath the land, Languished, faded hath the world, Languished have they — the high place of the people of the land.
La tierra se lamenta y se desvanece. El mundo languidece y se desvanece. Los pueblos elevados de la tierra languidecen.
5 And the land hath been defiled under its inhabitants, Because they have transgressed laws, They have changed a statute, They have made void a covenant age-during.
La tierra también está contaminada bajo sus habitantes, porque han transgredido las leyes, violado los estatutos y roto el pacto eterno.
6 Therefore a curse hath consumed the land, And the inhabitants in it are become desolate, Therefore consumed have been inhabitants of the land, And few men have been left.
Por eso la maldición ha devorado la tierra, y los que la habitan son hallados culpables. Por eso los habitantes de la tierra se han quemado, y han quedado pocos hombres.
7 Mourned hath the new wine, languished the vine, Sighed have all the joyful of heart.
El vino nuevo está de luto. La vid languidece. Todos los alegres de corazón suspiran.
8 Ceased hath the joy of tabrets, Ceased hath the noise of exulting ones, Ceased hath the joy of a harp.
El júbilo de los panderetas cesa. Se acaba el sonido de los que se alegran. Cesa la alegría del arpa.
9 With a song they drink not wine, Bitter is strong drink to those drinking it.
No beberán vino con una canción. La bebida fuerte será amarga para los que la beben.
10 It was broken down — a city of emptiness, Shut hath been every house from entrance.
La ciudad confusa se derrumba. Todas las casas están cerradas, para que nadie entre.
11 A cry over the wine [is] in out-places, Darkened hath been all joy, Removed hath been the joy of the land.
Hay llanto en las calles a causa del vino. Toda la alegría se ha oscurecido. La alegría del país ha desaparecido.
12 Left in the city [is] desolation, And [with] wasting is the gate smitten.
La ciudad ha quedado desolada, y la puerta ha sido golpeada por la destrucción.
13 When thus it is in the heart of the land, In the midst of the peoples, As the compassing of the olive, As gleanings when harvest hath been finished,
Así será en la tierra, entre los pueblos, como el temblor de un olivo, como las espigas cuando se acaba la cosecha.
14 They — they lift up their voice, They sing of the excellency of Jehovah, They have cried aloud from the sea.
Estos alzarán su voz. Gritarán por la majestad de Yahvé. Gritan en voz alta desde el mar.
15 Therefore in prosperity honour ye Jehovah, In isles of the sea, the name of Jehovah, God of Israel.
¡Glorifiquen, pues, a Yahvé en el oriente, el nombre de Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, en las islas del mar!
16 From the skirt of the earth we heard songs, The desire of the righteous. And I say, 'Leanness [is] to me, Leanness [is] to me, woe [is] to me.' Treacherous dealers dealt treacherously, Yea, treachery, treacherous dealers dealt treacherously.
Desde el extremo de la tierra se oyen cantos. ¡Gloria a los justos! Pero yo dije: “¡Me muero de ganas! Me desvanezco! ¡Ay de mí!” Los traidores han actuado con traición. Sí, los traidores han actuado con mucha traición.
17 Fear, and a snare, and a gin, [Are] on thee, O inhabitant of the land.
El miedo, la fosa y la trampa están sobre vosotros, los que habitáis la tierra.
18 And it hath come to pass, He who is fleeing from the noise of the fear Doth fall into the snare, And he who is coming up from the midst of the snare, Is captured by the gin, For windows on high have been opened, And shaken are foundations of the land.
Sucederá que el que huya del ruido del miedo caerá en la fosa; y el que salga de en medio de la fosa será apresado en el lazo; porque las ventanas de lo alto están abiertas, y los cimientos de la tierra tiemblan.
19 Utterly broken down hath been the land, Utterly broken hath been the land, Utterly moved hath been the land.
La tierra está totalmente destrozada. La tierra se desgarra. La tierra es sacudida violentamente.
20 Stagger greatly doth the land as a drunkard, And it hath been moved as a lodge, And heavy on it hath been its transgression, And it hath fallen, and addeth not to rise.
La tierra se tambaleará como un borracho, y se balanceará de un lado a otro como una hamaca. Su desobediencia le pesará, y caerá y no se levantará.
21 And it hath come to pass, in that day, Jehovah layeth a charge on the host of the high place in the high place, And on the kings of the land on the land.
Sucederá en ese día que el Señor castigará al ejército de los altos en lo alto, y a los reyes de la tierra en la tierra.
22 And they have been gathered — A gathering of bound ones in a pit, And shut up they have been in a prison, And after a multitude of days are inspected.
Serán reunidos como se reúne a los prisioneros en la fosa, y serán encerrados en la cárcel; y después de muchos días serán visitados.
23 And confounded hath been the moon, And ashamed hath been the sun, For reigned hath Jehovah of Hosts In mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, And over-against His elders — honour!
Entonces la luna se confundirá y el sol se avergonzará, porque el Señor de los Ejércitos reinará en el monte Sión y en Jerusalén, y la gloria estará delante de sus ancianos.
