Isaiah 22
1 The burden of the Valley of Vision. What — to thee, now, that thou hast gone up, All of thee — to the roofs?
Malheur accablant de la vallée de Vision. Qu’as-tu donc, toi aussi, que tu es montée tout entière sur les toits?
2 Full of stirs — a noisy city — an exulting city, Thy pierced are not pierced of the sword, Nor dead in battle.
Pleine de clameur, ville nombreuse, cité exultante, ceux qui t’ont été tués ne sont pas des tués par le glaive, ni des morts à la guerre.
3 All thy rulers fled together from the bow, Bound have been all found of thee, They have been kept bound together, Afar off they have fled.
Tous les princes ont fui ensemble, et ont été durement attachés; tous ceux qui ont été trouvés, ont été garrottés pareillement; cependant ils ont fui bien loin.
4 Therefore I said, 'Look ye from me, I am bitter in my weeping, Haste not to comfort me, For the destruction of the daughter of my people.'
À cause de cela j’ai dit: Retirez-vous de moi, je pleurerai amèrement; ne cherchez pas à me consoler sur la dévastation de la fille de mon peuple.
5 For a day of noise, and of treading down, And of perplexity, [is] to the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, In the valley of vision, digging down a wall, And crying unto the mountain.
Car c’est un jour de tuerie, de foulement aux pieds et de pleurs, jour venant du Seigneur Dieu des armées dans la vallée de Vision, examinant le mur, et fier sur la montagne.
6 And Elam hath borne a quiver, In a chariot of men — horsemen, And Kir hath exposed a shield.
Et Elam a pris un carquois, le chariot du cavalier, le bouclier a laissé la muraille nue.
7 And it cometh to pass, The choice of thy valleys have been full of chariots, And the horsemen place themselves diligently at the gate.
Et les meilleures vallées seront remplies de quadriges, et les cavaliers mettront le siège devant les portes.
8 And one removeth the covering of Judah, And thou lookest in that day Unto the armour of the house of the forest,
Et ce qui couvrait Juda sera ôté, et tu verras en ce jour-là l’arsenal de la maison de la forêt.
9 And the breaches of the city of David ye have seen, For they have become many, And ye gather the waters of the lower pool,
Et vous verrez que les brèches de la cité de David ont été multipliées, et vous avez rassemblé les eaux de la piscine inférieure,
10 And the houses of Jerusalem ye did number, And ye break down the houses to fence the wall.
Et vous avez fait le dénombrement des maisons de Jérusalem, et vous avez détruit les maisons pour fortifier le mur.
11 And a ditch ye made between the two walls, For the waters of the old pool, And ye have not looked unto its Maker, And its Framer of old ye have not seen.
Et vous avez fait un réservoir entre les deux murs, près de l’eau de la piscine ancienne, et vous n’avez pas levé les yeux vers celui qui l’avait faite, et vous n’avez pas vu même de loin celui qui l’a construite.
12 And call doth the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, In that day, to weeping and to lamentation, And to baldness and to girding on of sackcloth,
Et le Seigneur Dieu des armées vous appellera en ce jour-là au pleur, au gémissement, à raser vos cheveux, et à vous ceindre d’un sac;
13 And lo, joy and gladness, slaying of oxen, And slaughtering of sheep, Eating of flesh, and drinking of wine, Eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.
Et voici la joie et l’allégresse; tuer des veaux, égorger des béliers, manger des viandes, et boire du vin. Mangeons et buvons; car demain nous mourrons.
14 And revealed it hath been in mine ears, [By] Jehovah of Hosts: Not pardoned is this iniquity to you, Till ye die, said the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts.
Et s’est révélée à mes oreilles la voix du Seigneur des armées: Non, elle ne vous sera pas remise, cette iniquité, jusqu’à ce que vous mouriez, dit le Seigneur Dieu des armées.
15 Thus said the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts: 'Go, enter in unto this steward, Unto Shebna, who [is] over the house:
Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu des armées: Va, entre auprès de celui qui habite dans le tabernacle, auprès de Sobna, le préposé du temple, et tu lui diras:
16 What — to thee here? And who — to thee here? That thou hast hewn out to thee here — a sepulchre? Hewing on high his sepulchre, Graving in a rock a dwelling for himself.
Que fais-lu ici, ou à quel titre es-tu ici? que tu t’es taillé ici un sépulcre, que sur un lieu élevé tu l’es taillé dans la pierre un monument, un tabernacle.
17 Lo, Jehovah is casting thee up and down, A casting up and down, O mighty one,
Voici que le Seigneur te fera transporter comme est transporté un coq, et comme un manteau, ainsi il t’enlèvera.
18 And thy coverer covering, wrapping round, Wrappeth thee round, O babbler, On a land broad of sides — there thou diest, And there the chariots of thine honour [Are] the shame of the house of thy lord.
Te couronnant, il te couronnera de tribulation, il te lancera comme une balle dans une terre large et spacieuse; là tu mourras, et là sera le char de ta gloire, l’ignominie de la maison de ton Seigneur.
19 And I have thrust thee from thy station, And from thine office he throweth thee down.
Je te chasserai de ton rang, et de ton ministère je te déposerai.
20 And it hath come to pass, in that day, That I have called to my servant, To Eliakim son of Hilkiah.
Et il arrivera en ce jour-là que j’appellerai mon serviteur Eliacim, fils d’Helcias,
21 And I have clothed him with thy coat, And with thy girdle I strengthen him, And thy garment I give into his hand, And he hath been for a father to the inhabitant of Jerusalem, And to the house of Judah.
Et je le revêtirai de ta tunique, je lui attacherai fortement ta ceinture, et ta puissance, je la mettrai en sa main; et il sera comme un père pour les habitants de Jérusalem et pour la maison de Juda.
22 And I have placed the key Of the house of David on his shoulder, And he hath opened, and none is shutting, And hath shut, and none is opening.
Et je mettrai la clef de la maison de David sur son épaule, et il ouvrira, et il n’y aura personne qui ferme; et il fermera, et il n’y aura personne qui ouvre.
23 And I have fixed him a nail in a stedfast place, And he hath been for a throne of honour To the house of his father.
Et je le ficherai comme un pieu dans un lieu sûr, et il sera comme un trône de gloire pour la maison de son père.
24 And they have hanged on him All the honour of the house of his father, The offspring and the issue, All vessels of small quality, From vessels of basins to all vessels of flagons.
On y suspendra toute la gloire de la maison de son père, les divers genres de vases, tout vase le plus petit, depuis les vases cratères jusqu’à tout instrument de musique.
25 In that day — an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, Moved is the nail that is fixed In a stedfast place, Yea, it hath been cut down, and hath fallen, And cut off hath been the burden that [is] on it, For Jehovah hath spoken!'
En ce jour-là, dit le Seigneur des armées, sera enlevé le pieu qui avait été fiché dans un lieu sûr; et sera brisé et tombera et périra tout ce qui y avait été suspendu, parce que le Seigneur a parlé.
