Isaiah 21
1 The burden of the wilderness of the sea. 'Like hurricanes in the south for passing through, From the wilderness it hath come, From a fearful land.
COLUI vien dal deserto, dal paese spaventevole, a guisa di turbini, [che] passano nel paese del Mezzodì.
2 A hard vision hath been declared to me, The treacherous dealer is dealing treacherously, And the destroyer is destroying. Go up, O Elam, besiege, O Media, All its sighing I have caused to cease.
Una dura visione mi è stata annunziata. Il disleale [ha trovato] un disleale; il guastatore [ha trovato] un guastatore. Sali, Elam; Media, assedia; io ho fatto cessare ogni gemito.
3 Therefore filled have been my loins [with] great pain, Pangs have seized me as pangs of a travailing woman, I have been bent down by hearing, I have been troubled by seeing.
Perciò i miei lombi son pieni di doglia; dolori mi hanno colto, simili a' dolori della donna che partorisce; io mi sono scontorto, per ciò che ho udito; e mi sono smarrito, per ciò che ho veduto.
4 Wandered hath my heart, trembling hath terrified me, The twilight of my desire He hath made a fear to me,
Il mio cuore è smarrito, orrore mi ha conturbato, il vespro de' miei diletti mi è stato cangiato in ispavento.
5 Arrange the table, watch in the watch-tower, Eat, drink, rise, ye heads, anoint the shield,
Mentre la tavola sarà apparecchiata, [e] le guardie staranno alla veletta, [e] si mangerà, e si berra; levatevi, capitani, ungete lo scudo.
6 For thus said the Lord unto me: 'Go, station the watchman, That which he seeth let him declare.'
Percioechè così mi ha detto il Signore: Va', metti uno alla veletta, [ed] annunzii ciò ch'egli vedrà.
7 And he hath seen a chariot — a couple of horsemen, The rider of an ass, the rider of a camel, And he hath given attention — He hath increased attention!
Ed egli vide carri, coppie di cavalieri, carri tirati da asini, [e] carri tirati da cammelli; e considerò [tutto ciò] molto attentamente.
8 And he crieth — a lion, 'On a watch-tower my lord, I am standing continually by day, And on my ward I am stationed whole nights.
E gridò, [come] un leone: Io sto, Signore, del continuo nella veletta di giorno, e sto in piè nella mia guardia tutte le notti.
9 And lo, this, the chariot of a man is coming, A couple of horsemen.' And he answereth and saith: 'Fallen, fallen hath Babylon, And all the graven images of her gods He hath broken to the earth.
Ed ecco, son venuti carri d'uomini, coppie di cavalieri. Ed egli rispose, e disse: Caduta, caduta è Babilonia, e tutte le sculture de' suoi dii sono state spezzate, [egittate] a terra.
10 O my threshing, and the son of my floor, That which I heard from Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, I have declared to you!'
[Ella è] ciò che io ho adunato nella mia aia, per trebbiarlo. Io vi ho annunziato ciò che io ho udito dal Signor degli eserciti, dall'Iddio d'Israele.
11 The burden of Dumah. Unto me is [one] calling from Seir 'Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?'
Il carico di Duma. EI si grida a me di Seir: Guardia, che [hai tu veduto] dopo la notte? Guardia, che [hai tu veduto] dopo la notte?
12 The watchman hath said, 'Come hath morning, and also night, If ye inquire, inquire ye, turn back, come.'
La guardia ha detto: La mattina è venuta, e poi anche la notte; se voi [ne] domandate, domandate pure, ritornate, venite.
13 The burden on Arabia. In a forest in Arabia ye lodge, O travellers of Dedanim.
Il carico contro all'Arabia. VOI passerete la notte nelle selve di Arabia, o carovane di Dedanei.
14 To meet the thirsty brought water have Inhabitants of the land of Tema, With his bread they came before a fugitive.
Ei si è portato dell'acqua incontro agli assetati; gli abitanti del paese di Tema son venuti col loro pane incontro a' fuggenti.
15 For from the face of destructions they fled, From the face of a stretched-out sword, And from the face of a trodden bow, And from the face of the grievousness of battle.
Perciocchè son fuggiti d'innanzi alle spade, d'innanzi alla spada tratta, d'innanzi all'arco teso, e d'innanzi allo sforzo della battaglia.
16 For thus said the Lord unto me: 'Within a year, as years of a hireling, Consumed hath been all the honour of Kedar.
Perciocchè il Signore mi ha detto così: Infa un anno, quale [è il termine de]gli anni di un servitore tolto a prezzo, tutta la gloria di Chedar verrà meno.
17 And the remnant of the number of bow-men, The mighty of the sons of Kedar are few, For Jehovah, God of Israel, hath spoken!'
E il rimanente del numero de' forti arcieri de' figliuoli di Chedar sarà poco; perciocchè il Signore Iddio d'Israele ha parlato. Il carico della Valle della visione.
