Hosea 9
1 'Rejoice not, O Israel, be not joyful like the peoples, For thou hast gone a-whoring from thy God, Thou hast loved a gift near all floors of corn.
Älä riemuitse, Israel, äläkä öykkää niinkuin kansat; sillä sinä olet huorin tehnyt sinun Jumalaas vastaan, sinä etsit porton palkkaa kaikkein jyväluvain tykönä.
2 Floor and wine-press do not delight them, And new wine doth fail in her,
Sentähden ei luvat eikä kuurnat pidä heitä elättämän, eikä viinan pidä hänelle menestymän.
3 They do not abide in the land of Jehovah, And turned back hath Ephraim [to] Egypt, And in Asshur an unclean thing they eat.
Ja ei heidän pidä asuman Herran maalla; mutta Ephraimin pitää jälleen menemän Egyptiin, ja pitää Assyriassa saastaista syömän.
4 They pour not out wine to Jehovah, Nor are they sweet to Him, Their sacrifices [are] as bread of mourners to them, All eating it are unclean: For their bread [is] for themselves, It doth not come into the house of Jehovah.
Jossa ei taideta Herralle viinasta juomauhria tehdä, eli muuta tehdä hänen mielensä nouteeksi; heidän uhrinsa pitää oleman niinkuin murheellisten leipä, josta kaikki saastuttavat itsensä, jotka sitä syövät; sillä heidän leipänsä pitää heidän itse syömän, ja ei sitä pidä Herran huoneesen vietämän.
5 What do ye at the day appointed? And at the day of Jehovah's festival?
Mitä te silloin tahdotte vuosikauden pyhinä ja Herran juhlapäivinä tehdä?
6 For, lo, they have gone because of destruction, Egypt gathereth them, Moph burieth them, The desirable things of their silver, Nettles possess them — a thorn [is] in their tents.
Sillä katso, heidän pitää raateliaa pakeneman; Egyptin pitää heidät kokooman, ja Moph pitää heidät hautaaman. Nukulaiset pitää siellä kasvaman, jossa nyt heidän rakkaan epäjumalansa hopiat ovat, ja orjantappurat pitää oleman heidän majoissansa.
7 Come in have the days of inspection, Come in have the days of recompence, Israel doth know! a fool [is] the prophet, Mad [is] the man of the Spirit, Because of the abundance of thine iniquity, And great [is] the hatred.
Etsikon aika on tullut, ja kostamisen aika on tullut, jonka Israelin pitää kyllä tunteman: Prophetat ovat tomppelit, ja kerskaajat ovat mielipuolet, sinun suurten pahain tekois tähden ja suuren vastahakoisuuden tähden.
8 Ephraim is looking [away] from My God, The prophet! a snare of a fowler [is] over all his ways, Hatred [is] in the house of his God.
Vartiat Ephraimissa pitivät heitänsä hetken minun Jumalani tykö; mutta nyt he ovat prophetat, jotka hänelle paulan kaikilla hänen teillänsä panevat, sillä vainollisella epäjumalan palveluksella heidän Jumalansa huoneessa.
9 They have gone deep — have done corruptly, As [in] the days of Gibeah, He doth remember their iniquity, He doth inspect their sins.
He ovat syvästi itsensä turmelleet, niinkuin Gibean aikana; sentähden pitää hänen heidän pahat tekonsa muistaman, ja heidän syntinsä etsimän.
10 As grapes in a wilderness I found Israel, As the first-fruit in a fig-tree, at its beginning, I have seen your fathers, They — they have gone in [to] Baal-Peor, And are separated to a shameful thing, And are become abominable like their love.
Minä löysin Israelin niinkuin viinamarjat korvessa, ja näin teidän isänne niinkuin fikunapuussa uutisfikunat; mutta he menivät sitte Baalpeorin tykö, ja lupasivat heitänsä sille häpiälliselle epäjumalalle, ja tulivat niin julmaksi kuin se, jota he rakastivat.
11 Ephraim [is] as a fowl, Fly away doth their honour, without birth, And without womb, and without conception.
Sentähden pitää Ephraimin kunnian lentämän pois niinkuin lintu; niin ettei heidän pidä synnyttämän, eikä kantaman eli siittämän.
12 For though they nourish their sons, I have made them childless — without man, Surely also, woe to them, when I turn aside from them.
Ja ehkä vielä lapsiansa kasvattaisivat, niin minä tahdon kuitenkin heidät lapsettomaksi tehdä, ettei heidän pidä ensinkään kansa oleman. Voi myös heitä, kuin minä heistä luovun!
13 Ephraim! when I have looked to the rock, Is planted in comeliness, And Ephraim [is] to bring out unto a slayer his sons.
Ephraim, jonka minä näen, on istutettu ja kaunis niinkuin Tyro; mutta hänen täytyy nyt surmaajalle lapsensa antaa.
14 Give to them, Jehovah — what dost Thou give? Give to them miscarrying womb, and dry breasts.
Herra, anna heille; mutta mitäs tahdot heille antaa? Anna heille hedelmätöin kohtu ja tyhjät nisät.
15 All their evil [is] in Gilgal, Surely there I have hated them, Because of the evil of their doings, Out of My house I do drive them, I add not to love them, all their heads [are] apostates.
Kaikki heidän pahuutensa tapahtuu Gilgalissa; siellä minä heitä vihaan, ja ajan heidät pois minun huoneestani, heidän pahan menonsa tähden, enkä tahdo heitä enään rakastaa; sillä kaikki heidän päämiehensä ovat langenneet pois.
16 Ephraim hath been smitten, Their root hath dried up, fruit they yield not, Yea, though they bring forth, I have put to death the desired of their womb.
Ephraim on lyöty; hänen juurensa ovat kuivettuneet, ettei ne enään taida hedelmää kantaa; ja vaikka he vielä kantaisivat, niin minä tahdon kuitenkin heidän ruumiinsa ihanat hedelmät kuolettaa.
17 Reject them doth my God, Because they have not hearkened to Him, And they are wanderers among nations!
Minun Jumalani on heittävä heidät pois, ettei he häntä kuulleet; ja heidän pitää pakanain seassa kulkiana vaeltaman.
