Hosea 4
1 'Hear a word of Jehovah, sons of Israel, For a strife [is] to Jehovah with inhabitants of the land, For there is no truth, nor kindness, Nor knowledge of God, in the land,
¡Oíd la palabra de Yahvé, oh hijos de Israel! Pues Yahvé entra en juicio con los habitantes del país, porque no hay verdad ni misericordia, y no hay conocimiento de Dios en la tierra.
2 Swearing, and lying, and murdering, And stealing, and committing adultery — have increased, And blood against blood hath touched.
Perjuran, y mienten, matan, roban y adulteran, hacen violencia, y un homicidio sigue a otro.
3 Therefore mourn doth the land, And weak is every dweller in it, With the beast of the field, And with the fowl of the heavens, And the fishes of the sea — they are removed.
Por esto el país está de luto, y desfallecen cuantos en él habitan, juntamente con las bestias del campo y las aves del cielo. Hasta los peces de la mar desaparecen.
4 Only, let no one strive, nor reprove a man, And thy people [are] as those striving with a priest.
Pero nadie se ponga a contender y nadie reprenda; porque tu pueblo es como aquellos que se querellan contra el sacerdote.
5 And thou hast stumbled in the day, And stumbled hath also a prophet with thee in the night, And I have cut off thy mother.
Tropezarás en pleno día, y también el profeta tropezará contigo de noche; y Yo haré perecer a tu madre.
6 Cut off have been My people for lack of knowledge, Because thou knowledge hast rejected, I reject thee from being priest to Me, And thou forgettest the law of thy God, I forget thy sons, I also!
Mi pueblo perece por falta de conocimiento. Por haber rechazado tú el conocimiento, Yo te rechazaré a ti para que no seas mi sacerdote. Por haber olvidado tú la ley de tu Dios, me olvidaré Yo de tus hijos.
7 According to their abundance so they sinned against Me, Their honour into shame I change.
Cuanto más se multiplicaron, tanto más pecaron contra Mí; por lo cual trocaré su gloria en ignominia.
8 The sin of My people they do eat, And unto their iniquity lift up their soul.
Comen los pecados de mi pueblo, y las iniquidades de este le gustan.
9 And it hath been, like people, like priest, And I have charged on it its ways, And its habitual doings I return to it.
Por eso el pueblo y los sacerdotes tendrán la misma suerte. Los castigaré por su conducta y haré recaer sobre ellos sus obras.
10 And they have eaten, and are not satisfied, They have gone a-whoring, and increase not, For they have left off taking heed to Jehovah.
Comerán, y no se saciarán; fornicarán y no se multiplicarán, por cuanto han dejado de servir a Yahvé.
11 Whoredom, and wine, and new wine, take the heart,
Fornicación, vino y mosto quitan el buen sentido.
12 My people at its staff asketh and its rod declareth to it, For a spirit of whoredoms hath caused to err, And they go a-whoring from under their God.
Mi pueblo consulta a sus leños, y su palo le da revelaciones; porque el espíritu de fornicación los ha extraviado, se prostituyen apartándose de su Dios.
13 On tops of the mountains they do sacrifice, And on the hills they make perfume, Under oak, and poplar, and terebinth, For good [is] its shade.
Ofrecen sacrificios sobre las cimas de los montes, y queman incienso sobre los collados, bajo las encinas, los álamos y los terebintos; porque es grata su sombra. Por eso fornican vuestras hijas y adulteran vuestras nueras.
14 Therefore commit whoredom do your daughters, And your spouses commit adultery, I do not see after your daughters when they commit whoredom, And after your spouses when they commit adultery, For they with the harlots are separated, And with the whores they do sacrifice, A people that doth not understand kicketh.
Sin embargo no castigaré a vuestras hijas fornicarias, ni a vuestras nueras adúlteras, por cuanto ellos mismos van aparte con las prostitutas, y ofrecen sacrificios con las hieródulas; así el pueblo que no entiende corre hacia su perdición.
15 Though a harlot thou [art], O Israel, Let not Judah become guilty, And come not ye in to Gilgal, nor go up to Beth-Aven, Nor swear ye, Jehovah liveth.
Si tú, oh Israel, fornicas, al menos no se haga culpable Judá. No vayáis a Gálgala, ni subáis a Betaven; ni juréis (diciendo): «¡Vive Yahvé!»
16 For as a refractory heifer hath Israel turned aside, Now doth Jehovah feed them as a lamb in a large place.
Porque Israel se extravió como una vaca indómita; mas ahora los apacentará Yahvé cual corderos en lugar espacioso.
17 Joined to idols [is] Ephraim, let him alone.
Efraím no se separa de los ídolos. ¡Déjale!
18 Sour [is] their drink, They have gone diligently a-whoring, Her protectors have loved shame thoroughly.
Terminada su embriaguez se entregan a la fornicación; sus príncipes aman sobre todo la ignominia.
19 Distressed her hath wind with its wings, And they are ashamed of their sacrifices!
El viento los tiene envueltos en sus alas; y quedarán avergonzados a causa de sus sacrificios.
