< Hosea 4 >
1 'Hear a word of Jehovah, sons of Israel, For a strife [is] to Jehovah with inhabitants of the land, For there is no truth, nor kindness, Nor knowledge of God, in the land,
Nangcae Israel caanawk, Angraeng ih lok to tahngai oh: loktang lok om ai, palungnathaih om ai boeh moe, prae thungah Sithaw panoekhaih to om ai boeh pongah, prae thung kaom kaminawk hoi Angraeng lok angaekhaih to oh boeh.
2 Swearing, and lying, and murdering, And stealing, and committing adultery — have increased, And blood against blood hath touched.
Kasae thuihaih, lok amlaihaih, kami humhaih, paqukhaih, daan ai ah zae sakhaih, angsum thai ai ah ohhaih, ahmuen kruekah athii palonghaih to oh.
3 Therefore mourn doth the land, And weak is every dweller in it, With the beast of the field, And with the fowl of the heavens, And the fishes of the sea — they are removed.
To pongah prae loe palungsae ueloe, a thungah kaom kaminawk thazok o boih tih, moisannawk, van ih tavaanawk, tuipui thung ih tanganawk doeh dueh o boih tih.
4 Only, let no one strive, nor reprove a man, And thy people [are] as those striving with a priest.
Toe mi kawbaktih doeh zaehaih net o hmah, mi doeh pakung o hmah; nang ih kaminawk loe qaima hoi angzoeh koeh kami ah oh o.
5 And thou hast stumbled in the day, And stumbled hath also a prophet with thee in the night, And I have cut off thy mother.
To pongah nang loe athun naah amthaek ueloe, tahmaa doeh nangcae hoi nawnto aqum ah amthaek tih, nam no to ka dueksak han.
6 Cut off have been My people for lack of knowledge, Because thou knowledge hast rejected, I reject thee from being priest to Me, And thou forgettest the law of thy God, I forget thy sons, I also!
Panoekhaih tawn o ai pongah, kai ih kaminawk loe amro o boeh. Panoekhaih to na vah ving boeh pongah, nang loe qaima ah kang tapom mak ai boeh; na Sithaw mah patuk ih lok to na pahnawt ving boeh pongah, na caanawk to ka pahnawt toeng han.
7 According to their abundance so they sinned against Me, Their honour into shame I change.
Nihcae pung o naah, ka nuiah zaehaih sak o aep aep; to pongah nihcae lensawkhaih to azathaih ah kang coengsak ving han.
8 The sin of My people they do eat, And unto their iniquity lift up their soul.
Nihcae loe kai kaminawk ih zaehaih to caak o, palungthin doeh nihcae zaehaih nuiah a suek o.
9 And it hath been, like people, like priest, And I have charged on it its ways, And its habitual doings I return to it.
To pongah kaminawk nuiah sak ih baktih toengah, qaima nuiah doeh ka sak han; a caeh o ih loklamnawk baktiah nihcae to dan ka paek moe, a sak o ih hmuen baktih toengah nihcae han tangqum ka paek han.
10 And they have eaten, and are not satisfied, They have gone a-whoring, and increase not, For they have left off taking heed to Jehovah.
Nihcae loe buh caa o tih, toe boep o mak ai; nihcae mah Angraeng to caeh o taak pongah, tangzat zaw kami baktiah om o tih, angpung o mak ai.
11 Whoredom, and wine, and new wine, take the heart,
Tangzat zawhhaih, misurtui hoi misurtui kangtha mah palungthin amkhraengsak.
12 My people at its staff asketh and its rod declareth to it, For a spirit of whoredoms hath caused to err, And they go a-whoring from under their God.
Kai ih kaminawk loe a sak o cop ih krang khaeah lokdueng o moe, angmacae ih cung mah nihcae hanah lokthuih pae. Tangzat zawh koehhaih palungthin mah nihcae loklam amkhraengsak, nihcae loe angmacae ih Sithaw to caeh o taak moe, tangzat zawh o.
13 On tops of the mountains they do sacrifice, And on the hills they make perfume, Under oak, and poplar, and terebinth, For good [is] its shade.
Nihcae loe mae nuiah hmuen paekhaih to sak o, tahlip hoih pongah mae nui ih oak thingkung, poplar thingkung hoi kasang thingkung tlim ah hmuihoih to a thlaek o. To pongah na canunawk tangzat zaw o ueloe, na zunawk doeh sava laep ah zaehaih sah o tih.
14 Therefore commit whoredom do your daughters, And your spouses commit adultery, I do not see after your daughters when they commit whoredom, And after your spouses when they commit adultery, For they with the harlots are separated, And with the whores they do sacrifice, A people that doth not understand kicketh.
Nangcae doeh tangzat zaw kaminawk hoiah nang kom o moe, tangzat zawhhaih ahmuen ah hmuenpaekhaih na sak o pongah, na canunawk mah tangzat zawh o moe, na zunawk mah sava laep ah zaehaih sak o naah, nihcae to dan ka paek mak ai. To pongah panoekhaih tawn ai kaminawk loe amtimh o tih.
15 Though a harlot thou [art], O Israel, Let not Judah become guilty, And come not ye in to Gilgal, nor go up to Beth-Aven, Nor swear ye, Jehovah liveth.
Nang, Israel loe tangzat zaw kami hoi kanawm na caeng, toe Judah to zaesak hmah; nang loe Gilgal ah angzo hmah, Beth Aven ah doeh caeh hmah loe, Angraeng loe hing, tiah doeh lokkamhaih to sah hmah.
16 For as a refractory heifer hath Israel turned aside, Now doth Jehovah feed them as a lamb in a large place.
Israel caanawk loe maitaw tala hnuk angnawn baktiah hnuk angnawn o; vaihi loe nihcae to Angraeng mah qam kahoih ahmuen kakawk ah pacah ih tuu baktiah pacah mak ai boeh.
17 Joined to idols [is] Ephraim, let him alone.
Ephraim loe sakcop ih krangnawk to bok pongah, angmabueng ah om nasoe.
18 Sour [is] their drink, They have gone diligently a-whoring, Her protectors have loved shame thoroughly.
Nihcae loe mu kathaw tui to naek o moe, anghak ai ah tangzat to zawh o: anih ukkungnawk loe azat thok hmuen to sak han koeh o.
19 Distressed her hath wind with its wings, And they are ashamed of their sacrifices!
