< Hosea 13 >

1 When Ephraim speaketh tremblingly, He hath been lifted up in Israel, When he becometh guilty in Baal he dieth.
Ephraim mah lokthuih naah, kaminawk tasoeh o; anih loe Israel ah angmah hoi angmah to amkoeh; toe Baal to a bok pongah anih loe zaehaih tawnh moe, a duek.
2 And now do they add to sin, And make to them a molten image of their silver, By their own understanding — idols, A work of artisans — all of it, Of them they say, who [are] sacrificers among men, 'The calves let them kiss.'
Nihcae loe vaihi zaehaih sak o aep aep, a tawnh o ih sum kanglung hoi angmacae thoemhaih hoiah krangnawk to a sak o; to hmuennawk boih loe bantok sah kop kami mah sak ih hmuen ah ni oh. Krang to sak o pacoengah, Angbawnhaih sah kami mah krang to mok nasoe, tiah a thuih o.
3 Therefore they are as a cloud of the morning, And as dew, rising early, going away, As chaff tossed about out of a floor, And as smoke out of a window.
To pongah hae kaminawk loe akhawnbang ah amzam tamai baktih, akhawnbang ah kamzawt dantui baktiah om o ueloe, cang atithaih ahmuen hoiah takhi mah hmuh ih canghii baktih, takoeng ranui hoi tacawt hmaikhue baktiah ni om o tih.
4 And I [am] Jehovah thy God from the land of Egypt, And a God besides Me thou dost not know, And a Saviour — there is none save Me.
Toe kai loe Izip prae hoiah nang zaehoikung, na Angraeng Sithaw ah ka oh, kai ai ah loe Sithaw na panoek o thai mak ai, kai ai ah loe pahlongkung kalah om ai.
5 I — I have known thee in a wilderness, In a land of droughts.
Kai mah ni khokha praezaek ah kang khetzawn o.
6 According to their feedings they are satiated, They have been satiated, And their heart is lifted up, Therefore they have forgotten Me,
Kamhah ah buh na caak o naah nam oek o; to pongah nihcae mah kai ang pahnet o.
7 And I am to them as a lion, As a leopard by the way I look out.
To pongah nihcae khaeah kaipui baktiah ka oh moe, kaithlaeng baktiah loklam ah ka ngang han.
8 I do meet them as a bereaved bear, And I rend the enclosure of their heart.
Taqom mah a caa han lomh pae ih baktih toengah, nihcae to ka hmang moe, panak huh to ka taprawt pae pat han, to ah kaipui baktiah nihcae to ka kaek han. Kasan moi mah nihcae to taprawt pet pet tih.
9 And I consume them there as a lioness, A beast of the field doth rend them.
Aw Israel, nang loe nam ro boeh, toe nang abomhaih loe kai khae hoiah ni angzoh.
10 Thou hast destroyed thyself, O Israel, But in Me [is] thy help, Where [is] thy king now — And he doth save thee in all thy cities? And thy judges of whom thou didst say, 'Give to me a king and heads?'
Kai loe nang ih siangpahrang ah ka oh han; na oh o haih vangpui boih pahlong thaih kalah kami oh maw? Siangpahrang hoi ukkung angraeng na paek ah, tiah na hnik o ih lokcaek kaminawk loe naa ah maw oh o boih boeh?
11 I give to thee a king in Mine anger, And I take away in My wrath.
Palungphui hoiah siangpahrang maeto kang paek o, palung hmai baktih amngaeh naah anih to ka lak ving.
12 Bound up [is] the iniquity of Ephraim, Hidden [is] his sin,
Ephraim sakpazaehaih loe tapawk moe, a zaehaih to hawk ving boeh.
13 Pangs of a travailing woman come to him, He [is] a son not wise, For he remaineth not the time for the breaking forth of sons.
Nongpata caa oh naah kana panoekhaih to anih nuiah pha tih boeh: anih loe palungha ai capa ah oh; anih loe tapen ai ah nawkta ohhaih ahmuen ah atue kasawk ah oh han om ai.
14 From the hand of Sheol I do ransom them, From death I redeem them, Where [is] thy plague, O death? Where thy destruction, O Sheol? Repentance is hid from Mine eyes. (Sheol h7585)
Taprong thacakhaih thung hoiah nihcae to ka krang han; nihcae to duekhaih thung hoiah ka loisak han. Aw duekhaih, kai loe nang ih nathaih kasae ah ka oh han! Aw taprong, kai loe nang amrohaih ah ka oh han! Tahmenhaih mik ka tawn mak ai. (Sheol h7585)
15 Though he among brethren produceth fruit, Come in doth an east wind, a wind of Jehovah, From a wilderness it is coming up, And it drieth up his fountain, And become dry doth his spring, It — it spoileth a treasure — every desirable vessel.
Anih loe nawkamya thungah athaih athai langlacadoeh ka tahmen mak ai, ni angyae bang ih takhi to angzo tih; Angraeng ih takhi to praezaek hoiah song tih. To pacoengah anih ih vacong tui to kang ueloe, tuibap tui doeh kang boih tih. Khit kaom anih ih hmuenmaenawk to paro pae boih tih.
16 Become desolate doth Samaria, Because she hath rebelled against her God, By sword they do fall, Their sucklings are dashed in pieces, And its pregnant ones are ripped up!
Angmah ih Sithaw to misa ah sak pongah, Samaria loe pongsut tih: nihcae to sumsen hoiah hum o ueloe, a caanawk to long ah va o tih: zokpomh nongpatanawk to taprawt pae o pat tih.
