Hebrews 5
1 For every chief priest — out of men taken — in behalf of men is set in things [pertaining] to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins,
Tout grand-prêtre, pris parmi les hommes, est établi pour le bien des hommes, pour régler leurs relations avec Dieu; dans ce but, il offre des oblations et des sacrifices pour les péchés;
2 able to be gentle to those ignorant and going astray, since himself also is compassed with infirmity;
il peut être indulgent pour les ignorants et les égarés, puisque lui aussi est sujet à la faiblesse.
3 and because of this infirmity he ought, as for the people, so also for himself to offer for sins;
Aussi est-il tenu à des sacrifices expiatoires aussi bien pour lui-même que pour le peuple.
4 and no one to himself doth take the honour, but he who is called by God, as also Aaron:
De plus, on ne s'arroge pas soi-même cette dignité; c'est Dieu qui vous y appelle, comme il fit pour Aaron.
5 so also the Christ did not glorify himself to become chief priest, but He who spake unto him: 'My Son thou art, I to-day have begotten thee;'
Ainsi le Christ: il ne s'est pas arrogé lui-même la gloire d'être grand-prêtre, mais Dieu lui a dit: «Tu es mon Fils, Je t'ai engendré aujourd'hui!»
6 as also in another [place] He saith, 'Thou [art] a priest — to the age, according to the order of Melchisedek;' (aiōn g165)
et dans un autre passage: «Tu es prêtre à tout jamais Selon l'ordre de Melchisédek.» (aiōn g165)
7 who in the days of his flesh both prayers and supplications unto Him who was able to save him from death — with strong crying and tears — having offered up, and having been heard in respect to that which he feared,
Lui qui, pendant sa vie sur la terre, a offert, à celui qui pouvait le délivrer de la mort, des prières et des supplications en jetant de grands cris et en versant des larmes, lui qui a été exaucé à cause de sa piété
8 through being a Son, did learn by the things which he suffered — the obedience,
(il était Fils, et cependant par ses souffrances il a appris l'obéissance),
9 and having been made perfect, he did become to all those obeying him a cause of salvation age-during, (aiōnios g166)
arrivé alors au plus haut point de la perfection, il est devenu pour tous ceux qui lui obéissent l'auteur d'un salut, éternel, (aiōnios g166)
10 having been addressed by God a chief priest, according to the order of Melchisedek,
ayant été proclamé par Dieu grand-prêtre «selon l'ordre de Melchisédek».
11 concerning whom we have much discourse and of hard explanation to say, since ye have become dull of hearing,
C'est un sujet sur lequel nous avons beaucoup à dire et des choses difficiles à expliquer, parce que vous êtes lents à comprendre.
12 for even owing to be teachers, because of the time, again ye have need that one teach you what [are] the elements of the beginning of the oracles of God, and ye have become having need of milk, and not of strong food,
Il y a longtemps que vous devriez être des maîtres, et vous avez encore besoin qu'on vous apprenne les premiers éléments des révélations de Dieu; vous en êtes à avoir besoin de lait au lieu d'une nourriture solide.
13 for every one who is partaking of milk [is] unskilled in the word of righteousness — for he is an infant,
Celui qui en est encore au lait ne comprend pas un enseignement complet; il n'est qu'un enfant.
14 and of perfect men is the strong food, who because of the use are having the senses exercised, unto the discernment both of good and of evil.
La nourriture solide est pour les hommes faits, pour ceux qui ont acquis par la pratique un sens exercé à discerner le vrai du faux.
