Haggai 2

1 In the seventh [month], in the twenty and first of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:

I sjunde månaden, på tjuguförsta dagen i månaden, kom HERRENS ord genom profeten Haggai han sade:

2 'Speak, I pray thee, unto Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and unto Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest, and unto the remnant of the people, saying:

Säg till Serubbabel, Sealtiels son Juda ståthållare, och till översteprästen Josua, Josadaks son, och till kvarlevan av folket:

3 Who among you hath been left that saw this house in its former honour? And what are ye seeing it now? Is it not, compared with it, as nothing in your eyes?

Leva icke ännu bland eder män kvar, som hava sett detta hus i dess forna härlighet? Och hurudant sen I det nu vara? Är det icke såsom intet i edra ögon?

4 And now, be strong, O Zerubbabel, An affirmation of Jehovah, And be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest, And be strong, all ye people of the land, An affirmation of Jehovah, And do ye — (for I [am] with you, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts) —

Men var likväl nu frimodig, du Serubbabel, säger HERREN; och var frimodig, du överstepräst Josua, Josadaks son; och varen frimodiga och arbeten, alla I som hören till folket i landet, säger HERREN; ty jag är med eder, säger HERREN Sebaot.

5 The thing that I covenanted with you, In your coming forth from Egypt, And My Spirit is remaining in your midst, fear not.

Det förbund som jag slöt med eder, när I drogen ut ur Egypten, vill jag låta stå fast, och min Ande skall förbliva ibland eder; frukten icke.

6 For thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Yet once more — it [is] a little, And I am shaking the heavens and the earth, And the sea, and the dry land,

Ty så säger HERREN Sebaot: Ännu en gång, inom en liten tid, skall jag komma himmelen och jorden, havet och det torra att bäva;

7 And I have shaken all the nations, And they have come [to] the desire of all the nations, And I have filled this house [with] honour, Said Jehovah of Hosts.

och alla hednafolk skall jag komma att bäva, och så skola dyrbara håvor från alla hednafolk föras hit; och jag skall fylla detta hus med härlighet, säger HERREN Sebaot.

8 Mine [is] the silver, and Mine the gold, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.

Ty mitt är silvret, och mitt är guldet, säger HERREN Sebaot.

9 Greater is the honour of this latter house, Than of the former, said Jehovah of Hosts, And in this place do I give peace, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.'

Den tillkommande härligheten hos detta hus skall bliva större än dess forna var, säger HERREN Sebaot; och på denna plats skall jag låta friden råda, säger HERREN Sebaot.

10 On the twenty and fourth of the ninth [month], in the second year of Darius, hath a word of Jehovah been by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:

På tjugufjärde dagen i nionde månaden av Darejaves' andra regeringsår kom HERRENS ord till profeten Haggai; han sade:

11 Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: 'Ask, I pray thee, the priests [of] the law, saying:

Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Fråga prästerna om lag och säg:

12 Lo, one doth carry holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and he hath come with his skirt against the bread, or against the pottage, or against the wine, or against the oil, or against any food — is it holy?' And the priests answer and say, 'No.'

"Om någon bär heligt kött i fliken av sin mantel och så med fliken kommer vid något bakat eller kokt, eller vid vin eller olja, eller vid något annat som man förtär, månne detta därigenom bliver heligt?" Prästerna svarade och sade: "Nej."

13 And Haggai saith, 'If the unclean of body doth come against any of these, is it unclean?' And the priests answer and say, 'It is unclean.'

Åter frågade Haggai: "Om den som har blivit orenad genom en död kommer vid något av allt detta, månne det då bliver orenat?" Prästerna svarade och sade: "Ja."

14 And Haggai answereth and saith, 'So [is] this people, and so [is] this nation before Me — an affirmation of Jehovah — and so [is] every work of their hands, and that which they bring near there — it is unclean.

Då tog Haggai till orda och sade: "Så är det med detta folk och så är det med detta släkte inför mig, säger HERREN, och så är det med allt deras händers verk: vad de där offra, det är orent.

15 And now, lay [it], I pray you, to your heart, From this day, and onwards, Before the laying of stone to stone in the temple of Jehovah.

Och given nu akt på huru det hittills har varit, före denna dag, och under tiden innan man ännu hade begynt lägga sten på sten till HERRENS tempel

16 From that time [one] hath come to a heap of twenty, And it hath been ten, He hath come unto the wine-fat to draw out fifty purahs, And it hath been twenty.

huru härförinnan, om någon kom till en sädesskyl som skulle giva tjugu mått, den gav allenast tio, och huru, om någon kom till vinpressen för att ösa upp femtio kärl, den gav allenast tjugu.

17 I have smitten you with blasting, And with mildew, and with hail — All the work of your hands, And there is none of you with Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.

Vid allt edra händers arbete slog jag eder säd med sot och rost och hagel, och likväl vänden I eder icke till mig, säger HERREN.

18 Set [it], I pray you, to your heart, from this day and onwards, from the twenty and fourth day of the ninth [month], even from the day that the temple of Jehovah hath been founded, set [it] to your heart.

Given alltså akt på huru det hittills har varit, före denna dag; ja, given akt på huru det har varit före tjugufjärde dagen i nionde månaden, denna dag då grunden har blivit lagd till HERRENS tempel.

19 Is the seed yet in the barn? And hitherto the vine and the fig, And the pomegranate, and the olive-tree, Have not borne — from this day I bless.'

Finnes någon säd ännu i kornboden? Nej; och varken vinträdet eller fikonträdet eller granatträdet eller olivträdet har ännu burit någon frukt. Men från denna dag skall jag giva välsignelse."

20 And there is a word of Jehovah a second time unto Haggai, on the twenty and fourth of the month, saying:

Och HERRENS ord kom för andra gången till Haggai, på tjugufjärde dagen i samma månad; han sade:

21 'Speak unto Zerubbabel governor of Judah, saying: I am shaking the heavens and the earth,

Säg till Serubbabel, Juda ståthållare: Jag skall komma himmelen och jorden att bäva;

22 And have overturned the throne of kingdoms, And I have destroyed the strength of kingdoms of the nations, And overturned chariot and its charioteers, And come down have horses and their riders, Each by the sword of his brother.

jag skall omstörta konungatroner och göra hednarikenas makt till intet; jag skall omstörta vagnarna med sina kämpar, och hästarna skola stupa med sina ryttare. Den ene skall falla för den andres svärd.

23 In that day — an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, I take thee, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, My servant — an affirmation of Jehovah, And have set thee as a signet, for on thee I have fixed, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts!

På den tiden, säger HERREN Sebaot, skall jag taga dig, min tjänare Serubbabel, Sealtiels son, säger HERREN, och skall akta dig såsom min signetring; ty dig har jag utvalt, säger HERREN Sebaot.
