< Habakkuk 1 >

1 The burden that Habakkuk the prophet hath seen:
Tahmaa Habakkuk mah hnuk ih lok loe hae tiah oh.
2 Till when, O Jehovah, have I cried, And Thou dost not hear? I cry unto Thee — 'Violence,' and Thou dost not save.
Aw Angraeng, nasetto maw kang kawk moe, kang kawkhaih lok tahngai ai ah na oh han vop? Tha hoi kang kawk naah doeh, nang pahlong ai!
3 Why dost Thou shew me iniquity, And perversity dost cause to behold? And spoiling and violence [are] before me, And there is strife, and contention doth lift [itself] up,
Tih hanah kahoih ai hmuen to nang patuek moe, raihaih to nang hnuksak loe? Lomhaih hoi raihaih ka hma ah oh moe, lokpunghaih hoi angzoehhaih to pop.
4 Therefore doth law cease, And judgment doth not go forth for ever, For the wicked is compassing the righteous, Therefore wrong judgment goeth forth.
To pongah ukhaih daan loe thazok boeh, toenghaih doeh hmabang caeh thai ai boeh: kasae kami mah katoeng kami to ven khoep pongah, amsoem ai lokcaekhaih to hmacawn lat boeh.
5 Look ye on nations, and behold and marvel greatly. For a work He is working in your days, Ye do not believe though it is declared.
Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk thungah kaom hmuen to khen oh loe, poek o noek ah! Paroeai dawnrai hoiah om oh; thuih cadoeh, tang han ai ah nangcae ih adung thungah tok ka sak han.
6 For, lo, I am raising up the Chaldeans, The bitter and hasty nation, That is going to the broad places of earth, To occupy tabernacles not its own.
Khenah, tahmenhaih tawn ai, tha patoh hoi toksak koeh acaeng, Khaldian kaminawk to kang thawksak boeh, nihcae loe angmacae ih prae na ai prae kalah to lak hanah, prae thung boih ah caeh o tih.
7 Terrible and fearful it [is], From itself its judgment and its excellency go forth.
Nihcae loe zit kaom kami ah oh o; nihcae lokcaekhaih hoi ukhaih daan doeh angmacae koeh baktiah ni sak o.
8 Swifter than leopards have been its horses, And sharper than evening wolves, And increased have its horsemen, Even its horsemen from afar come in, They fly as an eagle, hasting to consume.
Nihcae ih hrang loe kaithlaeng pongah rang o kue moe, aduem bang ih tasui pongah hmawsaeng o kue: hrang angthueng kaminawk loe angthla parai ahmuen hoiah angzoh o, toe nihcae loe moi caa tahmu kazawk baktiah a zawk o tih.
9 Wholly for violence it doth come in, Their faces swallowing up the east wind, And it doth gather as the sand a captivity.
Nihcae loe athii longsak hanah angzo o boih tih; nihcae ih mikhmai loe ni angyae bang ih takhi baktiah oh, nihcae mah misong ah naeh ih kaminawk to savuet baktiah angpop o sak.
10 And at kings it doth scoff, And princes [are] a laughter to it, At every fenced place it doth laugh, And it heapeth up dust, and captureth it.
Siangpahrangnawk to pahnui o thui tih, ukkung angraengnawk doeh khet kamcuk ai ah sah o tih: vangpui thung ih misa pakaahaihnawk to pahnui o thui tih, long tangprih to tapop o ueloe, vangpui to la o tih.
11 Then passed on hath the spirit, Yea, he doth transgress, And doth ascribe this his power to his god.
To pacoengah a poekhaih to amkhraih ueloe, anghmaa o boih tih; kazae kaminawk loe angmacae thacakhaih to sithaw baktiah pakoeh o.
12 Art not Thou of old, O Jehovah, my God, my Holy One? We do not die, O Jehovah, For judgment Thou hast appointed it, And, O Rock, for reproof Thou hast founded it.
Aw Angraeng kai ih Sithaw, kaciim kai ih Sithaw, nang loe dungzan ah hing na ai maw? Kaicae loe ka dueh o mak ai. Aw Angraeng, lok takroek hanah nihcae to na caksak boeh; Aw thacak Sithaw, nihcae thuitaek hanah na caksak boeh.
13 Purer of eyes than to behold evil, To look on perverseness Thou art not able, Why dost Thou behold the treacherous? Thou keepest silent when the wicked Doth swallow the more righteous than he,
Na mik loe ciim moe, kasae khet hanah na koeh ai: tipongah aling thaih kaminawk to na khet loe? Tipongah kazae kami mah angmah pong katoeng kaminawk to paaeh naah, na khet sut loe?
14 And Thou makest man as fishes of the sea, As a creeping thing — none ruling over him.
Tipongah long kaminawk to ukkung tawn ai, tuipui ih tanganawk baktih, zok hoi kavak moinawk baktiah na sak loe?
15 Each of them with a hook he hath brought up, He doth catch it in his net, and gathereth it in his drag, Therefore he doth joy and rejoice.
Misanawk mah nihcae to cakoih hoiah tathok o, palok hoiah naeh o pacoengah, palok pui hoiah a ruet o. To pongah nihcae loe poeknawm o parai moe, anghoe o.
16 Therefore he doth sacrifice to his net, And doth make perfume to his drag, For by them [is] his portion fertile, and his food fat.
To pongah nihcae loe angmacae ih palok khaeah hmuen tathlanghaih to sak o moe, palok pui taengah hmuihoih to a thlaek o, nihcae loe tahamhoih o moe, caaknaek pop parai ah a tawnh o.
17 Doth he therefore empty his net, And continually to slay nations spare not?
Nihcae loe palok pong ih tanga to khringh o boih ueloe, tahmenhaih tawn ai ah prae kaminawk to hum o poe tih maw?
