< Genesis 29 >

1 And Jacob lifteth up his feet, and goeth towards the land of the sons of the east;
And he lifted up Jacob feet his and he went [the] land of towards [the] people of [the] east.
2 and he looketh, and lo, a well in the field, and lo, there three droves of a flock crouching by it, for from that well they water the droves, and the great stone [is] on the mouth of the well.
And he saw and there! a well [was] in the field and there! there three flocks of sheep [were] lying down at it for from the well that people watered the flocks and the stone [was] large over [the] mouth of the well.
3 (When thither have all the droves been gathered, and they have rolled the stone from off the mouth of the well, and have watered the flock, then they have turned back the stone on the mouth of the well to its place.)
And they were gathered there towards all the flocks and they rolled the stone from over [the] mouth of the well and they watered the sheep and they put back the stone over [the] mouth of the well to place its.
4 And Jacob saith to them, 'My brethren, from whence [are] ye?' and they say, 'We [are] from Haran.'
And he said to them Jacob O brothers my from where? [are] you and they said [are] from Haran we.
5 And he saith to them, 'Have ye known Laban, son of Nahor?' and they say, 'We have known.'
And he said to them ¿ do you know Laban [the] son of Nahor and they said we know [him].
6 And he saith to them, 'Hath he peace?' and they say, 'Peace; and lo, Rachel his daughter is coming with the flock.'
And he said to them ¿ [does] health [belong] to him and they said health and there! Rachel daughter his [is] coming with the sheep.
7 And he saith, 'Lo, the day [is] still great, [it is] not time for the cattle to be gathered; water ye the flock, and go, delight yourselves.'
And he said here! still the day [is] great not [the] time of [the] being gathered of the livestock water the sheep and go pasture [them].
8 And they say, 'We are not able, till that all the droves be gathered together, and they have rolled away the stone from the mouth of the well, and we have watered the flock.'
And they said not we are able until that they will be gathered all the flocks and people will roll the stone from over [the] mouth of the well and we will water the sheep.
9 He is yet speaking with them, and Rachel hath come with the flock which her father hath, for she [is] shepherdess;
Still [was] he speaking with them and Rachel - she came with the sheep which [belonged] to father her for [was] a shepherdess she.
10 and it cometh to pass when Jacob hath seen Rachel, daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the flock of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob cometh nigh and rolleth the stone from off the mouth of the well, and watereth the flock of Laban his mother's brother.
And it was just as he saw Jacob Rachel [the] daughter of Laban [the] brother of mother his and [the] sheep of Laban [the] brother of mother his and he drew near Jacob and he rolled the stone from over [the] mouth of the well and he watered [the] sheep of Laban [the] brother of mother his.
11 And Jacob kisseth Rachel, and lifteth up his voice, and weepeth,
And he kissed Jacob Rachel and he lifted up voice his and he wept.
12 and Jacob declareth to Rachel that he [is] her father's brother, and that he [is] Rebekah's son, and she runneth and declareth to her father.
And he told Jacob to Rachel that [was] [the] relative of father her he and that [was] [the] son of Rebekah he and she ran and she told to father her.
13 And it cometh to pass, when Laban heareth the report of Jacob his sister's son, that he runneth to meet him, and embraceth him, and kisseth him, and bringeth him in unto his house; and he recounteth to Laban all these things,
And it was when heard Laban [the] report of - Jacob [the] son of sister his and he ran to meet him and he embraced him and he kissed him and he brought him to house his and he recounted to Laban all the things these.
14 and Laban saith to him, 'Only my bone and my flesh [art] thou;' and he dwelleth with him a month of days.
And he said to him Laban surely [are] bone my and flesh my you and he remained with him a month of days.
15 And Laban saith to Jacob, 'Is it because thou [art] my brother that thou hast served me for nought? declare to me what [is] thy hire.'
And he said Laban to Jacob ¿ for relative my [are] you and you will serve me for nothing tell! to me what? [is] wage[s] your.
16 And Laban hath two daughters, the name of the elder [is] Leah, and the name of the younger Rachel,
And [belonged] to Laban two daughters [the] name of the old [one] [was] Leah and [the] name of the young [one] [was] Rachel.
17 and the eyes of Leah [are] tender, and Rachel hath been fair of form and fair of appearance.
And [the] eyes of Leah [were] weak and Rachel she was beautiful of form and beautiful of appearance.
18 And Jacob loveth Rachel, and saith, 'I serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter:'
And he loved Jacob Rachel and he said I will serve you seven years for Rachel daughter your young.
19 and Laban saith, 'It is better for me to give her to thee than to give her to another man; dwell with me;'
And he said Laban ([is] good *LB(ah)*) to give I her to you more than to give I her to a man another remain! with me.
20 and Jacob serveth for Rachel seven years; and they are in his eyes as some days, because of his loving her.
And he served Jacob for Rachel seven years and they were in view his like days one in love his her.
21 And Jacob saith unto Laban, 'Give up my wife, for my days have been fulfilled, and I go in unto her;'
And he said Jacob to Laban give! wife my for they have been completed days my so I may go into her.
22 and Laban gathereth all the men of the place, and maketh a banquet.
And he gathered Laban all [the] people of the place and he prepared a feast.
23 And it cometh to pass in the evening, that he taketh Leah, his daughter, and bringeth her in unto him, and he goeth in unto her;
And it was in the evening and he took Leah daughter his and he brought her to him and he went into her.
24 and Laban giveth to her Zilpah, his maid-servant, to Leah his daughter, a maid-servant.
And he had given Laban to her Zilpah maidservant his to Leah daughter his a maidservant.
25 And it cometh to pass in the morning, that lo, it [is] Leah; and he saith unto Laban, 'What [is] this thou hast done to me? for Rachel have I not served with thee? and why hast thou deceived me?'
And it was in the morning and there! she [was] Leah and he said to Laban what? this have you done to me ¿ not for Rachel have I served with you and why? have you deceived me.
26 And Laban saith, 'It is not done so in our place, to give the younger before the first-born;
And he said Laban not it is done thus in place our to give the young before the firstborn.
27 fulfil the week of this one, and we give to thee also this one, for the service which thou dost serve with me yet seven other years.'
Complete [the] week of this [one] so let us give to you also this [one] for [the] service which you will serve with me again seven years another.
28 And Jacob doth so, and fulfilleth the week of this one, and he giveth to him Rachel his daughter, to him for a wife;
And he did Jacob thus and he completed [the] week of this [one] and he gave to him Rachel daughter his of him to a wife.
29 and Laban giveth to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his maid-servant, for a maid-servant to her.
And he had given Laban to Rachel daughter his Bilhah maidservant his to her to [be] a maidservant.
30 And he goeth in also unto Rachel, and he also loveth Rachel more than Leah; and he serveth with him yet seven other years.
And he went also into Rachel and he loved also Rachel more than Leah and he served with him again seven years another.
31 And Jehovah seeth that Leah [is] the hated one, and He openeth her womb, and Rachel [is] barren;
And he saw Yahweh that [was] hated Leah and he opened womb her and Rachel [was] barren.
32 and Leah conceiveth, and beareth a son, and calleth his name Reuben, for she said, 'Because Jehovah hath looked on mine affliction; because now doth my husband love me.'
And she conceived Leah and she bore a son and she called name his Reuben for she said that he has looked Yahweh on affliction my for now he will love me husband my.
33 And she conceiveth again, and beareth a son, and saith, 'Because Jehovah hath heard that I [am] the hated one, He also giveth to me even this [one];' and she calleth his name Simeon.
And she conceived again and she bore a son and she said that he has heard Yahweh that [am] hated I and he has given to me also this [one] and she called name his Simeon.
34 And she conceiveth again, and beareth a son, and saith, 'Now [is] the time, my husband is joined unto me, because I have born to him three sons,' therefore hath [one] called his name Levi.
And she conceived again and she bore a son and she said now this time he will join himself husband my to me for I have borne to him three sons there-fore he called name his Levi.
35 And she conceiveth again, and beareth a son, and saith this time, 'I praise Jehovah;' therefore hath she called his name Judah; and she ceaseth from bearing.
And she conceived again and she bore a son and she said this time I will praise Yahweh there-fore she called name his Judah and she stopped from bearing children.
