Genesis 27
1 And it cometh to pass that Isaac [is] aged, and his eyes are too dim for seeing, and he calleth Esau his elder son, and saith unto him, 'My son;' and he saith unto him, 'Here [am] I.'
Als aber Isaak alt geworden und sein Augenlicht erloschen war, so daß er nicht mehr sehen konnte, berief er seinen älteren Sohn Esau und sagte zu ihm: »Mein Sohn!« Er antwortete ihm: »Hier bin ich!«
2 And he saith, 'Lo, I pray thee, I have become aged, I have not known the day of my death;
Jener fuhr fort: »Du siehst, ich bin alt geworden und weiß nicht, wie bald ich sterben werde.
3 and now, take up, I pray thee, thy instruments, thy quiver, and thy bow, and go out to the field, and hunt for me provision,
So nimm nun doch deine Jagdgeräte, deinen Köcher und Bogen, und gehe aufs Feld hinaus und erjage ein Stück Wild für mich;
4 and make for me tasteful things, [such] as I have loved, and bring in to me, and I do eat, so that my soul doth bless thee before I die.'
dann bereite mir ein schmackhaftes Gericht, wie ich es liebe, und bringe es mir herein, damit ich esse und dich dann segne, bevor ich sterbe.«
5 And Rebekah is hearkening while Isaac is speaking unto Esau his son; and Esau goeth to the field to hunt provision — to bring in;
Rebekka hatte aber zugehört, als Isaak so zu seinem Sohne Esau redete. Während nun Esau aufs Feld hinausging, um ein Stück Wild zu erjagen und heimzubringen,
6 and Rebekah hath spoken unto Jacob her son, saying, 'Lo, I have heard thy father speaking unto Esau thy brother, saying,
sagte Rebekka zu ihrem Sohne Jakob: »Ich habe soeben gehört, wie dein Vater mit deinem Bruder Esau geredet hat und zu ihm sagte:
7 Bring for me provision, and make for me tasteful things, and I do eat, and bless thee before Jehovah before my death.
›Bringe mir doch ein Stück Wild und bereite mir ein schmackhaftes Gericht, damit ich esse und dich dann vor dem Angesicht des HERRN segne, bevor ich sterbe.‹
8 'And now, my son, hearken to my voice, to that which I am commanding thee:
So höre nun, mein Sohn, auf den Rat, den ich dir jetzt gebe!
9 Go, I pray thee, unto the flock, and take for me from thence two good kids of the goats, and I make them tasteful things for thy father, [such] as he hath loved;
Gehe hin zur Herde und hole mir von dort zwei gute Ziegenböckchen; die will ich dann für deinen Vater zu einem schmackhaften Gericht zubereiten, wie er es liebt;
10 and thou hast taken in to thy father, and he hath eaten, so that his soul doth bless thee before his death.
das bringst du dann deinem Vater hinein, damit er es ißt und dich dann noch vor seinem Tode segnet.«
11 And Jacob saith unto Rebekah his mother, 'Lo, Esau my brother [is] a hairy man, and I a smooth man,
Da erwiderte Jakob seiner Mutter Rebekka: »Ja, aber mein Bruder Esau ist stark behaart, während ich eine glatte Haut habe.
12 it may be my father doth feel me, and I have been in his eyes as a deceiver, and have brought upon me disesteem, and not a blessing;'
Vielleicht wird mein Vater mich betasten: dann würde ich als Betrüger vor ihm dastehen und einen Fluch statt des Segens über mich bringen.«
13 and his mother saith to him, 'On me thy disesteem, my son; only hearken to my voice, and go, take for me.'
Aber seine Mutter antwortete ihm: »Den Fluch, der dich treffen könnte, nehme ich auf mich, mein Sohn! Folge du nur meinem Rat: geh hin und hole mir die Böckchen!«
14 And he goeth, and taketh, and bringeth to his mother, and his mother maketh tasteful things, [such] as his father hath loved;
Da ging er hin, holte die Böckchen und brachte sie seiner Mutter; und diese bereitete davon ein schmackhaftes Gericht, wie sein Vater es liebte.
15 and Rebekah taketh the desirable garments of Esau her elder son, which [are] with her in the house, and doth put on Jacob her younger son;
Hierauf holte Rebekka die Festtagskleider ihres älteren Sohnes Esau, die sich bei ihr in der Wohnung befanden, und gab sie ihrem jüngeren Sohne Jakob zum Anziehen;
16 and the skins of the kids of the goats she hath put on his hands, and on the smooth of his neck,
die Felle der Ziegenböckchen aber legte sie ihm um die Arme und um die glatten Stellen seines Halses;
17 and she giveth the tasteful things, and the bread which she hath made, into the hand of Jacob her son.
dann gab sie das schmackhafte Essen nebst dem Brot, das sie gebacken hatte, ihrem Sohne Jakob in die Hand.
18 And he cometh in unto his father, and saith, 'My father;' and he saith, 'Here [am] I; who [art] thou, my son?'
So ging er denn zu seinem Vater hinein und sagte: »Mein Vater!« Dieser antwortete: »Hier bin ich! Wer bist du, mein Sohn?«
19 And Jacob saith unto his father, 'I [am] Esau thy first-born; I have done as thou hast spoken unto me; rise, I pray thee, sit, and eat of my provision, so that thy soul doth bless me.'
Jakob erwiderte seinem Vater: »Ich bin Esau, dein erstgeborener Sohn; ich habe getan, wie du mir aufgetragen hast. Richte dich nun auf, setze dich und iß von meinem Wildbret, damit du mich dann segnest.«
20 And Isaac saith unto his son, 'What [is] this thou hast hasted to find, my son?' and he saith, 'That which Jehovah thy God hath caused to come before me.'
Da fragte Isaak seinen Sohn: »Wie hast du denn so schnell etwas gefunden, mein Sohn?« Er antwortete: »Ja, der HERR, dein Gott, hat es mir entgegenlaufen lassen.«
21 And Isaac saith unto Jacob, 'Come nigh, I pray thee, and I feel thee, my son, whether thou [art] he, my son Esau, or not.'
Da sagte Isaak zu Jakob: »Tritt doch näher heran, mein Sohn, damit ich dich betaste, ob du wirklich mein Sohn Esau bist oder nicht!«
22 And Jacob cometh nigh unto Isaac his father, and he feeleth him, and saith, 'The voice [is] the voice of Jacob, and the hands hands of Esau.'
Da trat Jakob nahe an seinen Vater Isaak heran, und als dieser ihn betastet hatte, sagte er: »Die Stimme ist Jakobs Stimme, aber die Arme sind Esaus Arme«;
23 And he hath not discerned him, for his hands have been hairy, as the hands of Esau his brother, and he blesseth him,
und er erkannte ihn nicht, weil seine Arme behaart waren wie die Arme seines Bruders Esau; so segnete er ihn denn.
24 and saith, 'Thou art he — my son Esau?' and he saith, 'I [am].'
Er fragte nämlich: »Du bist doch wirklich mein Sohn Esau?« Jener antwortete: »Ja, ich bin’s.«
25 And he saith, 'Bring nigh to me, and I do eat of my son's provision, so that my soul doth bless thee;' and he bringeth nigh to him, and he eateth; and he bringeth to him wine, and he drinketh.
Da fuhr er fort: »So reiche es mir her, damit ich von dem Wildbret meines Sohnes esse und ich dich dann segne.« Da reichte er es ihm hin, und er aß; er brachte ihm auch Wein, den er trank.
26 And Isaac his father saith to him, 'Come nigh, I pray thee, and kiss me, my son;'
Hierauf sagte sein Vater Isaak zu ihm: »Tritt nun nahe heran, mein Sohn, und küsse mich!«
27 and he cometh nigh, and kisseth him, and he smelleth the fragrance of his garments, and blesseth him, and saith, 'See, the fragrance of my son [is] as the fragrance of a field which Jehovah hath blessed;
Da trat er heran und küßte ihn; dabei roch jener den Geruch seiner Kleider und segnete ihn mit den Worten: »Ja, der Geruch meines Sohnes ist wie der Geruch eines Feldes, das der HERR gesegnet hat.
28 and God doth give to thee of the dew of heaven, and of the fatness of the earth, and abundance of corn and wine;
So gebe Gott dir denn vom Tau des Himmels und von den Fruchtgefilden der Erde Überfluß sowohl an Korn als auch an Wein!
29 peoples serve thee, and nations bow themselves to thee, be thou mighty over thy brethren, and the sons of thy mother bow themselves to thee; those who curse thee [are] cursed, and those who bless thee [are] blessed.'
Völker sollen dir dienen und Völkerschaften sich vor dir beugen! Sei ein Herr über deine Brüder, und bücken sollen sich vor dir die Söhne deiner Mutter! Wer dir flucht, der sei verflucht, und wer dich segnet, der soll gesegnet sein!«
30 And it cometh to pass, as Isaac hath finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob is only just going out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother hath come in from his hunting;
Als nun Isaak mit der Segnung Jakobs eben zu Ende war und Jakob kaum von seinem Vater Isaak hinausgegangen war, da kam sein Bruder Esau von seiner Jagd zurück.
31 and he also maketh tasteful things, and bringeth to his father, and saith to his father, 'Let my father arise, and eat of his son's provision, so that thy soul doth bless me.'
Er bereitete gleichfalls ein schmackhaftes Gericht, brachte es seinem Vater hinein und sagte zu ihm: »Richte dich auf, mein Vater, und iß vom Wildbret deines Sohnes, damit du mich dann segnest!«
32 And Isaac his father saith to him, 'Who [art] thou?' and he saith, 'I [am] thy son, thy first-born, Esau;'
Da fragte ihn sein Vater Isaak: »Wer bist du?« Er antwortete: »Ich bin dein erstgeborener Sohn Esau.«
33 and Isaac trembleth a very great trembling, and saith, 'Who, now, [is] he who hath provided provision, and bringeth in to me, and I eat of all before thou comest in, and I bless him? — yea, blessed is he.'
Da erbebte Isaak über alle Maßen und sagte: »Wer ist denn der gewesen, der ein Stück Wild erjagt und es mir gebracht hat? Ich habe von allem gegessen, ehe du kamst, und habe ihn gesegnet; so wird er nun auch gesegnet bleiben.«
34 When Esau heareth the words of his father, then he crieth a very great and bitter cry, and saith to his father, 'Bless me, me also, O my father;'
Sobald Esau diese Worte seines Vaters vernahm, erhob er ein überaus lautes und klägliches Geschrei und bat seinen Vater: »Segne auch mich, mein Vater!«
35 and he saith, 'Thy brother hath come with subtilty, and taketh thy blessing.'
Isaak aber antwortete: »Dein Bruder ist mit List gekommen und hat den dir gebührenden Segen vorweggenommen.«
36 And he saith, 'Is it because [one] called his name Jacob that he doth take me by the heel these two times? my birthright he hath taken; and lo, now, he hath taken my blessing;' he saith also, 'Hast thou not kept back a blessing for me?'
Da sagte Esau: »Ja, er heißt mit Recht Jakob; denn er hat mich nun schon zweimal überlistet: mein Erstgeburtsrecht hat er mir genommen, und jetzt hat er mich auch um meinen Segen gebracht!« Dann fragte er: »Hast du denn für mich keinen Segen zurückbehalten?«
37 And Isaac answereth and saith to Esau, 'Lo, a mighty one have I set him over thee, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants, and [with] corn and wine have I sustained him; and for thee now, what shall I do, my son?'
Da antwortete Isaak dem Esau mit den Worten: »Ich habe ihn nun einmal zum Herrn über dich gesetzt und alle seine Brüder ihm zu Knechten gegeben; mit Korn und Wein habe ich ihn versorgt! Was könnte ich also nun noch für dich tun, mein Sohn?«
38 And Esau saith unto his father, 'One blessing hast thou my father? bless me, me also, O my father;' and Esau lifteth up his voice, and weepeth.
Da sagte Esau zu seinem Vater: »Hast du denn nur den einen Segen, mein Vater? Segne auch mich, mein Vater!« Und Esau begann laut zu weinen.
39 And Isaac his father answereth and saith unto him, 'Lo, of the fatness of the earth is thy dwelling, and of the dew of the heavens from above;
Da antwortete ihm sein Vater Isaak mit den Worten: »Ach, ohne fetten Erdboden wird dein Wohnsitz sein und ohne Tau vom Himmel droben!
40 and by thy sword dost thou live, and thy brother dost thou serve; and it hath come to pass when thou rulest, that thou hast broken his yoke from off thy neck.'
Mittels deines Schwertes mußt du leben, und deinem Bruder sollst du dienstbar sein. Wenn du aber rüttelst, wirst du sein Joch dir vom Nacken abschütteln.«
41 And Esau hateth Jacob, because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau saith in his heart, 'The days of mourning [for] my father draw near, and I slay Jacob my brother.'
So wurde denn Esau dem Jakob feind wegen des Segens, den sein Vater ihm erteilt hatte; und Esau dachte bei sich: »Bald werden die Tage der Trauer um meinen Vater kommen, dann will ich meinen Bruder Jakob totschlagen!«
42 And the words of Esau her elder son are declared to Rebekah, and she sendeth and calleth for Jacob her younger son, and saith unto him, 'Lo, Esau thy brother is comforting himself in regard to thee — to slay thee;
Als nun der Rebekka diese Äußerungen ihres älteren Sohnes Esau hinterbracht wurden, ließ sie ihren jüngeren Sohn Jakob rufen und sagte zu ihm: »Wisse: dein Bruder Esau sinnt auf Rache gegen dich und will dich totschlagen!
43 and now, my son, hearken to my voice, and rise, flee for thyself unto Laban my brother, to Haran,
Darum höre nun, was ich dir rate, mein Sohn! Mache dich auf, fliehe zu meinem Bruder Laban nach Haran
44 and thou hast dwelt with him some days, till thy brother's fury turn back,
und bleibe einige Zeit bei ihm, bis der Groll deines Bruders sich gelegt hat!
45 till thy brother's anger turn back from thee, and he hath forgotten that which thou hast done to him, and I have sent and taken thee from thence; why am I bereaved even of you both the same day?'
Wenn dann sein Zorn gegen dich geschwunden ist und er vergessen hat, was du ihm angetan hast, dann will ich hinsenden und dich von dort zurückholen lassen. Warum soll ich euch beide an einem Tage verlieren?«
46 And Rebekah saith unto Isaac, 'I have been disgusted with my life because of the presence of the daughters of Heth; if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, like these — from the daughters of the land — why do I live?'
Hierauf sagte Rebekka zu Isaak: »Das Leben wird mir verleidet durch diese Hethiterinnen! Wenn auch Jakob sich solch eine Hethiterin zur Frau nähme, eine von den Töchtern des Landes, was hätte ich da noch vom Leben?«
