Genesis 15
1 After these things hath the word of Jehovah been unto Abram in a vision, saying, 'Fear not, Abram, I [am] a shield to thee, thy reward [is] exceeding great.'
Nach diesen Begebenheiten erging das Wort Jahwes an Abram in einem Gesicht; und er sprach: Fürchte dich nicht, Abram; ich bin dein Schild - es wartet deiner reicher Lohn!
2 And Abram saith, 'Lord Jehovah, what dost Thou give to me, and I am going childless? and an acquired son in my house is Demmesek Eliezer.'
Da sprach Abram: O Herr Jahwe! Was willst du mir geben, während ich doch kinderlos dahingehe, und der Erbe meines Besitzes wird Elieser sein.
3 And Abram saith, 'Lo, to me Thou hast not given seed, and lo, a domestic doth heir me.'
Und Abram sprach: Mir hast du ja keine Nachkommenschaft gegeben; so wird denn ein Leibeigener meines Hauses mich beerben.
4 And lo, the word of Jehovah [is] unto him, saying, 'This [one] doth not heir thee; but he who cometh out from thy bowels, he doth heir thee;'
Aber das Wort Jahwes erging an ihn also: Er soll nicht dein Erbe sein, sondern einer, der von deinem Leibe kommen wird, der soll dich beerben!
5 and He bringeth him out without, and saith, 'Look attentively, I pray thee, towards the heavens, and count the stars, if thou art able to count them;' and He saith to him, 'Thus is thy seed.'
Und er führte ihn hinaus ins Freie und sprach: Blicke auf zum Himmel und zähle die Sterne, ob du sie zu zählen vermagst! Und er sprach zu ihm: So zahlreich sollen deine Nachkommen sein!
6 And he hath believed in Jehovah, and He reckoneth it to him — righteousness.
Und er glaubte Jahwe, und das rechnete er ihm zu als Gerechtigkeit.
7 And He saith unto him, 'I [am] Jehovah who brought thee out from Ur of the Chaldees, to give to thee this land to possess it;'
Da sprach er zu ihm: Ich bin Jahwe, der dich ausgeführt hat aus Ur in Chaldäa, um dir dieses Land zu eigen zu geben.
8 and he saith, 'Lord Jehovah, whereby do I know that I possess it?'
Und er sprach: O Herr Jahwe! Woran soll ich erkennen, daß ich es besitzen werde?
9 And He saith unto him, 'Take for Me a heifer of three years, and a she-goat of three years, and a ram of three years, and a turtle-dove, and a young bird;'
Da sprach er zu ihm: Hole mir eine dreijährige Kuh, eine dreijährige Ziege, einen dreijährigen Widder, eine Turteltaube und eine junge Taube.
10 and he taketh to him all these, and separateth them in the midst, and putteth each piece over against its fellow, but the bird he hath not divided;
Da holte er ihm alle diese, zerteilte sie in je zwei gleiche Teile und legte je die eine Hälfte der andern gegenüber; die Vögel aber zerteilte er nicht.
11 and the ravenous birds come down upon the carcases, and Abram causeth them to turn back.
Da stießen die Raubvögel herab auf die Stücke; Abram aber scheuchte sie hinweg.
12 And the sun is about to go in, and deep sleep hath fallen upon Abram, and lo, a terror of great darkness is falling upon him;
Als nun die Sonne untergehen wollte, da fiel ein tiefer Schlaf auf Abram, und Beängstigung, dichte Finsternis überfiel ihn.
13 and He saith to Abram, 'knowing — know that thy seed is a sojourner in a land not theirs, and they have served them, and they have afflicted them four hundred years,
Da sprach er zu Abram: Du mußt wissen, daß deine Nachkommen Fremdlinge sein werden in einem Lande, das ihnen nicht gehört; und sie werden ihnen leibeigen sein, und jene werden sie hart bedrücken vierhundert Jahre lang.
14 and the nation also whom they serve I judge, and after this they go out with great substance;
Aber auch das Volk, dem sie leibeigen sein werden, will ich richten, und darnach sollen sie ausziehen mit reicher Habe.
15 and thou — thou comest in unto thy fathers in peace; thou art buried in a good old age;
Du aber wirst in Frieden zu deinen Vätern eingehen; du wirst begraben werden in einem schönen Alter.
16 and the fourth generation doth turn back hither, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet complete.'
Und das vierte Geschlecht von ihnen wird hierher zurückkehren; denn noch ist das Maß der Schuld der Amoriter nicht voll.
17 And it cometh to pass — the sun hath gone in, and thick darkness hath been — and lo, a furnace of smoke, and a lamp of fire, which hath passed over between those pieces.
Als aber die Sonne untergegangen und dichte Finsternis eingetreten war, da kam ein Rauch, wie aus einem Ofen, und eine Feuerfackel, die zwischen jenen Stücken hindurchging.
18 In that day hath Jehovah made with Abram a covenant, saying, 'To thy seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Phrat,
An jenem Tage schloß Jahwe einen Bund mit Abram und sprach: Deinen Nachkommen will ich dieses Land geben vom Strome Ägyptens an bis zum großen Strom, dem Euphratstrom,
19 with the Kenite, and the Kenizzite, and the Kadmonite,
das Land der Keniter, der Kenissiter, der Kadmoniter,
20 and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Rephaim,
der Hethiter, der Pheresiter, der Rephaiter,
21 and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Girgashite, and the Jebusite.'
der Amoriter, der Kanaaniter, der Girgasiter und der Jebusiter.
