Genesis 14
1 And it cometh to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goyim,
সেই সময় যখন অম্রাফল শিনারের রাজা, অরিয়োক ইল্লাসরের রাজা, কদর্লায়োমর এলমের রাজা এবং তিদিয়ল গোয়ীমের রাজা,
2 they have made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela, which [is] Zoar.
তখন এই রাজারা সদোমের রাজা বিরা, ঘমোরার রাজা বির্শা, অদ্মার রাজা শিনাব, সবোয়িমের রাজা শিমেবর ও বিলার (অর্থাৎ, সোয়রের) রাজার বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করতে গেলেন।
3 All these have been joined together unto the valley of Siddim, which [is] the Salt Sea;
শেষোক্ত এসব রাজা সিদ্দীম উপত্যকায় (অর্থাৎ, মরুসাগরের উপত্যকায়) একজোট হয়ে সেনাবাহিনী মোতায়েন করলেন।
4 twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and the thirteenth year they rebelled.
বারো বছর তাঁরা কদর্লায়োমরের শাসনাধীন হয়ে ছিলেন, কিন্তু ত্রয়োদশতম বছরে তাঁরা বিদ্রোহ ঘোষণা করলেন।
5 And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings who [are] with him, and they smite the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
চতুর্দশতম বছরে, এমীয়দের রাজা কদর্লায়োমর এবং তাঁর সঙ্গী রাজারা মরুভূমির কাছাকাছি অবস্থিত এল-পারণ পর্যন্ত এগিয়ে গিয়ে অস্তরোৎ-কর্ণয়িমে রফায়ীয়দের, হমে সুষীয়দের, শাবি-কিরিয়াথয়িমে এমীয়দের
6 and the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El-Paran, which [is] by the wilderness;
এবং সেয়ীরের পার্বত্য এলাকায় হোরীয়দের পরাজিত করলেন।
7 and they turn back and come in unto En-Mishpat, which [is] Kadesh, and smite the whole field of the Amalekite, and also the Amorite who is dwelling in Hazezon-Tamar.
পরে সেখান থেকে ফিরে এসে তারা ঐনমিস্পটে (অর্থাৎ, কাদেশে) গেলেন, এবং সেই অমালেকীয়দের ও ইমোরীয়দেরও সমগ্র এলাকা তারা জোর করে দখল করে নিলেন, যারা হৎসসোন-তামরে বসবাস করছিল।
8 And the king of Sodom goeth out, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela, which [is] Zoar; and they set the battle in array with them in the valley of Siddim,
পরে সদোমের রাজা, ঘমোরার রাজা, অদ্মার রাজা, সবোয়িমের রাজা এবং বিলার (অর্থাৎ সোয়রের) রাজা কুচকাওয়াজ করে এগিয়ে গিয়ে সিদ্দীম উপত্যকায়
9 with Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goyim, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with the five.
সেই এলমের রাজা কদর্লায়োমর, গোয়ীমের রাজা তিদিয়ল, শিনারের রাজা অম্রাফল ও ইল্লাসরের রাজা অরিয়োকের বিরুদ্ধে সৈন্যশিবির স্থাপন করলেন—যে চারজন রাজা পাঁচজনের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করছিলেন।
10 And the valley of Siddim [is] full of bitumen-pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah flee, and fall there, and those left have fled to the mountain.
ওই সিদ্দীম উপত্যকায় প্রচুর আলকাতরার খনি ছিল, এবং সদোম ও ঘমোরার রাজারা যখন পালিয়ে যাচ্ছিলেন, তখন কয়েকটি লোক সেইসব খনিতে গিয়ে পড়ল ও বাকিরা পাহাড়ে পালিয়ে গেল।
11 And they take the whole substance of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the whole of their food, and go away;
সেই চারজন রাজা সদোম ও ঘমোরার সব জিনিসপত্র ও তাদের সব খাবারদাবার বাজেয়াপ্ত করলেন এবং তাঁরা চলে গেলেন।
12 and they take Lot, Abram's brother's son (seeing he is dwelling in Sodom), and his substance, and go away.
তাঁরা অব্রামের ভাইপো লোটকে ও তাঁর বিষয়সম্পত্তিও তুলে নিয়ে গেলেন, যেহেতু লোট সদোমেই বসবাস করছিলেন।
13 And one who is escaping cometh and declareth to Abram the Hebrew, and he is dwelling among the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner, and they [are] Abram's allies.
একজন লোক পালিয়ে গিয়ে হিব্রু অব্রামের কাছে এসে খবর দিল। অব্রাম তখন সেই ইষ্কোলের ও আনেরের এক ভাই ইমোরীয় মম্রির বিশাল গাছগুলির কাছে বসবাস করছিলেন, যারা সবাই অব্রামের বন্ধু ছিলেন।
14 And Abram heareth that his brother hath been taken captive, and he draweth out his trained domestics, three hundred and eighteen, and pursueth unto Dan.
অব্রাম যখন শুনলেন যে তাঁর আত্মীয়কে বন্দি করা হয়েছে, তখন তিনি তাঁর ঘরে জন্মানো 318 জন প্রশিক্ষণপ্রাপ্ত লোককে ডাক দিলেন ও দান পর্যন্ত তাঁদের পশ্চাদ্ধাবন করে গেলেন, যাঁরা লোটকে বন্দি করেছিলেন।
15 And he divideth himself against them by night, he and his servants, and smiteth them, and pursueth them unto Hobah, which [is] at the left of Damascus;
রাতের বেলায় তাঁদের আক্রমণ করে ছত্রভঙ্গ করে দেওয়ার জন্য অব্রাম তাঁর লোকজনকে কয়েকটি ভাগে বিভক্ত করে দিলেন, ও দামাস্কাসের উত্তরে অবস্থিত হোবা পর্যন্ত তাদের পশ্চাদ্ধাবন করলেন।
16 and he bringeth back the whole of the substance, and also Lot his brother and his substance hath he brought back, and also the women and the people.
তিনি সব জিনিসপত্র পুনরুদ্ধার করলেন এবং তাঁর আত্মীয় লোটকে ও তাঁর বিষয়সম্পত্তি, তথা মহিলাদের ও অন্যান্য লোকজনকেও ফিরিয়ে আনলেন।
17 And the king of Sodom goeth out to meet him (after his turning back from the smiting of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings who [are] with him), unto the valley of Shaveh, which [is] the king's valley.
অব্রাম কদর্লায়োমর ও তাঁর সঙ্গে জোট বাঁধা রাজাদের পরাজিত করে ফিরে আসার পর শাবী উপত্যকায় (অর্থাৎ, রাজার উপত্যকায়) সদোমের রাজা তাঁর সাথে দেখা করার জন্য বেরিয়ে এলেন।
18 And Melchizedek king of Salem hath brought out bread and wine, and he [is] priest of God Most High;
তখন শালেমের রাজা মল্কীষেদক রুটি ও দ্রাক্ষারস বের করে নিয়ে এলেন। তিনি পরাৎপর ঈশ্বরের যাজক ছিলেন।
19 and he blesseth him, and saith, 'Blessed [is] Abram to God Most High, possessing heaven and earth;
তিনি অব্রামকে আশীর্বাদ করে বললেন, “অব্রাম, স্বর্গ-মর্ত্যের সৃষ্টিকর্তা পরাৎপর ঈশ্বরের আশীর্বাদধন্য হোন,
20 and blessed [is] God Most High, who hath delivered thine adversaries into thy hand;' and he giveth to him a tenth of all.
আর সেই পরাৎপর ঈশ্বরের প্রশংসা হোক, যিনি আপনার শত্রুদের আপনার হাতে সঁপে দিয়েছেন।” পরে অব্রাম তাঁকে নিজের সবকিছুর দশমাংশ দিলেন।
21 And the king of Sodom saith unto Abram, 'Give to me the persons, and the substance take to thyself,'
সদোমের রাজা অব্রামকে বললেন, “লোকজন আমাকে দিন ও সব জিনিসপত্র আপনি নিজের কাছে রেখে দিন।”
22 and Abram saith unto the king of Sodom, 'I have lifted up my hand unto Jehovah, God Most High, possessing heaven and earth —
কিন্তু অব্রাম সদোমের রাজাকে বললেন, “স্বর্গ-মর্ত্যের সৃষ্টিকর্তা পরাৎপর ঈশ্বর সেই সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশে হাত তুলে আমি শপথ করছি
23 from a thread even unto a shoe-latchet I take not of anything which thou hast, that thou say not, I — I have made Abram rich;
যে আপনার অধিকারে থাকা কোনো কিছুই আমি গ্রহণ করব না, এমনকি একটি সুতো বা চটিজুতোর একটি ফিতেও নয়, যেন আপনি কখনও বলতে না পারেন, ‘আমি অব্রামকে ধনবান করে তুলেছি।’
24 save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who have gone with me — Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre — they take their portion.'
আমার লোকজন যা খেয়েছে ও যারা আমার সাথে গিয়েছিল—সেই আনের, ইষ্কোল ও মম্রির ভাগে যা পড়ে, সেটুকু ছাড়া আমি আর কিছুই গ্রহণ করব না। তারা তাদের ভাগ বুঝে নিক।”
