Ezekiel 29
1 In the tenth year, in the tenth [month], in the twelfth of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been unto me, saying,
La dixième année, au dixième [mois], le douzième [jour] du mois, la parole de l’Éternel vint à moi, disant:
2 'Son of man, set thy face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy concerning him, and concerning Egypt — all of it.
Fils d’homme, tourne ta face contre le Pharaon, le roi d’Égypte, et prophétise contre lui et contre l’Égypte tout entière.
3 Speak, and thou hast said: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I [am] against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt! The great dragon that is crouching in the midst of his floods, Who hath said, My flood [is] my own, And I — I have made it [for] myself.
Parle, et dis: Ainsi dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Voici, j’en veux à toi, le Pharaon, roi d’Égypte, grand monstre des eaux, couché au milieu de ses fleuves, qui dis: Mon fleuve est à moi, et je me le suis fait!
4 And I have put hooks in thy jaws, And I have caused the fish of thy floods to cleave to thy scales, And I have caused thee to come up from the midst of thy floods, And every fish of thy floods to thy scales doth cleave.
Et je mettrai un anneau dans tes mâchoires, et j’attacherai à tes écailles les poissons de tes fleuves, et je te ferai monter du milieu de tes fleuves, et tous les poissons de tes fleuves qui sont attachés à tes écailles.
5 And I have left thee in the wilderness, Thou and every fish of thy floods, On the face of the field thou dost fall, Thou art not gathered nor assembled, To the beast of the earth and to the fowl of the heavens I have given thee for food.
Et je te jetterai dans le désert, toi et tous les poissons de tes fleuves; tu tomberas sur la face des champs, tu ne seras pas recueilli ni rassemblé; je te donnerai en pâture aux bêtes de la terre et aux oiseaux des cieux.
6 And known have all inhabitants of Egypt That I [am] Jehovah, Because of their being a staff of reed to the house of Israel.
Et tous les habitants de l’Égypte sauront que je suis l’Éternel, parce qu’ils ont été un appui de roseau pour la maison d’Israël;
7 In their taking hold of thee by thy hand, — thou art crushed, And hast rent to them all the shoulder, And in their leaning on thee thou art broken, And hast caused all their thighs to stand.
lorsqu’ils t’ont pris par la main, tu t’es rompu, et tu leur as déchiré toute l’épaule; et quand ils se sont appuyés sur toi, tu t’es cassé, et tu as fait chanceler tous leurs reins.
8 Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am bringing in against thee a sword, And have cut off from thee man and beast.
C’est pourquoi, ainsi dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Voici, je fais venir l’épée sur toi, et je retrancherai de toi hommes et bêtes.
9 And the land of Egypt hath been for a desolation and a waste, And they have known that I [am] Jehovah. Because he said: The flood [is] mine, and I made [it].
Et le pays d’Égypte sera une désolation et un désert; et ils sauront que je suis l’Éternel, parce qu’il a dit: Le fleuve est à moi, et moi je l’ai fait.
10 Therefore, lo, I [am] against thee, and against thy floods, And have given the land of Egypt for wastes, A waste, a desolation, from Migdol to Syene, And unto the border of Cush.
C’est pourquoi, voici, j’en veux à toi et à tes fleuves, et je ferai du pays d’Égypte des déserts d’aridité et de désolation, depuis Migdol à Syène, et jusqu’à la frontière de l’Éthiopie;
11 Not pass over into it doth a foot of man, Yea, the foot of beast doth not pass into it, Nor is it inhabited forty years.
le pied de l’homme n’y passera pas, et le pied de la bête n’y passera pas; et il ne sera pas habité pendant 40 ans.
12 And I have made the land of Egypt a desolation, In the midst of desolate lands, And its cities, in the midst of waste cities, Are a desolation forty years, And I have scattered the Egyptians among nations, And I have dispersed them through lands.
Et je ferai du pays d’Égypte une désolation au milieu des pays désolés, et ses villes seront, au milieu des villes dévastées, une désolation pendant 40 ans; et je disperserai les Égyptiens parmi les nations, et je les disséminerai dans les pays.
13 But thus said the Lord Jehovah: At the end of forty years I gather the Egyptians Out of the peoples whither they have been scattered,
Mais ainsi dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Au bout de 40 ans, je rassemblerai les Égyptiens d’entre les peuples parmi lesquels ils auront été dispersés;
14 And I have turned back [to] the captivity of Egypt, And I have brought them back [To] the land of Pathros, to the land of their birth, And they have been there a low kingdom.
et je rétablirai les captifs de l’Égypte, et je les ferai revenir dans le pays de Pathros, dans le pays de leur origine; et ils seront là un royaume abaissé.
15 Of the kingdoms it is lowest, And it lifteth not up itself any more above the nations, And I have made them few, So as not to rule among nations.
Il sera plus bas que tous les royaumes, et il ne s’élèvera plus au-dessus des nations, et je les diminuerai, en sorte qu’ils ne dominent plus sur les nations.
16 And it is no more to the house of Israel for a confidence, Bringing iniquity to remembrance, By their turning after them, And they have known that I [am] the Lord Jehovah.'
Et il ne sera plus la confiance de la maison d’Israël, mettant en mémoire son iniquité quand elle se tournait après eux; et ils sauront que je suis le Seigneur, l’Éternel.
17 And it cometh to pass, in the twenty and seventh year, in the first [month], in the first of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been unto me, saying:
Et il arriva, la vingt-septième année, au premier [mois], le premier [jour] du mois, que la parole de l’Éternel vint à moi, disant:
18 'Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, Hath caused his force to serve a great service against Tyre, Every head [is] bald — every shoulder peeled, And reward he had none, nor his force, out of Tyre, For the service that he served against it.
Fils d’homme, Nebucadretsar, roi de Babylone, a fait travailler son armée à un grand travail contre Tyr: toute tête en est devenue chauve, et toute épaule en a été écorchée; et il n’a eu de Tyr aucun salaire, ni pour lui, ni pour son armée, pour le travail qu’il a fait contre elle.
19 Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah, Lo, I am giving to Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon the land of Egypt, And he hath taken away its store, And hath taken its spoil, and taken its prey, And it hath been a reward to his force.
C’est pourquoi, ainsi dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Voici, je donne à Nebucadretsar, roi de Babylone, le pays d’Égypte; et il en enlèvera la multitude, il en emportera le butin, et en fera le pillage: et ce sera le salaire de son armée.
20 His wage for which he laboured I have given to him, The land of Egypt — in that they wrought for Me, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.
En récompense de son travail contre Tyr, je lui ai donné le pays d’Égypte, parce qu’ils ont travaillé pour moi, dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel.
21 In that day I cause to shoot up a horn to the house of Israel, And to thee I give an opening of the mouth in their midst, And they have known that I [am] Jehovah!'
En ce jour-là je ferai germer la corne de la maison d’Israël, et je te donnerai une bouche ouverte au milieu d’eux; et ils sauront que je suis l’Éternel.
