Exodus 20
1 'And God speaketh all these words, saying,
೧ದೇವರು ಈ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಆಜ್ಞಾವಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು:
2 I [am] Jehovah thy God, who hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of a house of servants.
೨“ನೀನು ಗುಲಾಮತನದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶದೊಳಗಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಮಾಡಿದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಎಂಬ ‘ನಾನೇ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರು’
3 'Thou hast no other Gods before Me.
೩ನಾನಲ್ಲದೆ ನಿಮಗೆ ಬೇರೆ ದೇವರುಗಳು ಇರಬಾರದು.
4 'Thou dost not make to thyself a graven image, or any likeness which [is] in the heavens above, or which [is] in the earth beneath, or which [is] in the waters under the earth.
೪“ಯಾವ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು. ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ, ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ, ಭೂಮಿಯ ಕೆಳಗಣ ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಇರುವ ಯಾವುದರ ರೂಪವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು.
5 Thou dost not bow thyself to them, nor serve them: for I, Jehovah thy God, [am] a zealous God, charging iniquity of fathers on sons, on the third [generation], and on the fourth, of those hating Me,
೫ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡ ಬೀಳಬಾರದು, ಪೂಜೆ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು. ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನೆಂಬ ನಾನು ನನಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲತಕ್ಕ ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುವವರ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತಂದೆಗಳ ದೋಷಫಲವನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮೇಲೆ, ಮೂರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ತಲೆಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡುವೆನು.
6 and doing kindness to thousands, of those loving Me and keeping My commands.
೬ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ ನನ್ನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವವರಿಗಾದರೋ ಸಾವಿರ ತಲೆಗಳವರೆಗೆ ದಯೆತೋರಿಸುವೆನು.
7 'Thou dost not take up the name of Jehovah thy God for a vain thing, for Jehovah acquitteth not him who taketh up His name for a vain thing.
೭ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಅಯೋಗ್ಯಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಎತ್ತಬಾರದು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ತನ್ನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಅಯೋಗ್ಯಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಎತ್ತುವವನನ್ನು ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸದೆ ಬಿಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
8 'Remember the Sabbath-day to sanctify it;
೮“ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನವನ್ನು ದೇವರ ದಿನವೆಂದು ಆಚರಣೆಗೆ ತರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನೆನಪಿನಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.
9 six days thou dost labour, and hast done all thy work,
೯ಆರು ದಿನಗಳು ನೀನು ದುಡಿದು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.
10 and the seventh day [is] a Sabbath to Jehovah thy God; thou dost not do any work, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, thy man-servant, and thy handmaid, and thy cattle, and thy sojourner who is within thy gates, —
೧೦ಆದರೆ ಏಳನೆಯ ದಿನವು ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಮೀಸಲಾದ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿಯ ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನವಾಗಿದೆ. ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಯಾವ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಬಾರದು. ನಿನ್ನ ಗಂಡುಮಕ್ಕಳು, ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳು, ಗಂಡಾಳು, ಹೆಣ್ಣಾಳು, ಪಶುಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳು ನಿನ್ನ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅನ್ಯದೇಶದವನು ಸಹ ಯಾವ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು.
11 for six days hath Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that [is] in them, and resteth in the seventh day; therefore hath Jehovah blessed the Sabbath-day, and doth sanctify it.
೧೧ಆರು ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಭೂಮ್ಯಾಕಾಶಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಸಮುದ್ರವನ್ನೂ, ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಮಸ್ತವನ್ನೂ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಿ, ಏಳನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ರಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನವನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ದಿನವಾಗಿರಲಿ ಎಂದು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿದನು.
12 'Honour thy father and thy mother, so that thy days are prolonged on the ground which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee.
೧೨“ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಬೇಕು, ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಿದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಿನಗೆ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಬಹುಕಾಲ ಬದುಕುವಿ.
13 'Thou dost not murder.
೧೩“ಕೊಲೆ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು.
14 'Thou dost not commit adultery.
೧೪“ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರಮಾಡಬಾರದು.
15 'Thou dost not steal.
೧೫“ಕದಿಯಬಾರದು.
16 'Thou dost not answer against thy neighbour a false testimony.
೧೬“ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೇಳಬಾರದು.
17 'Thou dost not desire the house of thy neighbour, thou dost not desire the wife of thy neighbour, or his man-servant, or his handmaid, or his ox, or his ass, or anything which [is] thy neighbour's.'
೧೭“ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಆಶೆಪಡಬಾರದು. ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ, ಗಂಡಾಳು, ಹೆಣ್ಣಾಳು, ಎತ್ತು, ಕತ್ತೆ ಮುಂತಾದ ಯಾವುದನ್ನೂ ಬಯಸಬಾರದು.”
18 And all the people are seeing the voices, and the flames, and the sound of the trumpet, and the mount smoking; and the people see, and move, and stand afar off,
೧೮ಆ ಗುಡುಗು, ಮಿಂಚು, ತುತ್ತೂರಿಯ ಧ್ವನಿ, ಹಾಗೂ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಹೊರಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಹೊಗೆಯನ್ನು ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನೋಡಿ, ನಡುಗುತ್ತಾ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡರು.
19 and say unto Moses, 'Speak thou with us, and we hear, and let not God speak with us, lest we die.'
೧೯ಅವರು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ, “ನೀನೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡು, ನಾವು ಕೇಳುತ್ತೇವೆ. ದೇವರು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರೆ ನಾವು ಸತ್ತು ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
20 And Moses saith unto the people, 'Fear not, for to try you hath God come, and in order that His fear may be before your faces — that ye sin not.'
೨೦ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೋಶೆಯು ಜನರಿಗೆ, “ಭಯಪಡಬೇಡಿರಿ, ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ, ನೀವು ಪಾಪ ಮಾಡದಂತೆ ಆತನ ಮೇಲಿನ ಭಯವು ನಿಮಗೆ ಇರಬೇಕೆಂತಲೂ ಇಳಿದು ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದನು.
21 And the people stand afar off, and Moses hath drawn nigh unto the thick darkness where God [is].
೨೧ಜನರು ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದರು. ಮೋಶೆಯು ದೇವರಿರುವ ಆ ಕಾರ್ಗತ್ತಲಿನ ಸಮೀಪಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದನು.
22 And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'Thus dost thou say unto the sons of Israel: Ye — ye have seen that from the heavens I have spoken with you;
೨೨ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ ಹೀಗೆಂದನು, “ನೀನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ; ‘ನಾನು ಆಕಾಶದಿಂದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ನೀವು ನೋಡಿದ್ದೀರಿ.
23 ye do not make with Me gods of silver, even gods of gold ye do not make to yourselves.
೨೩ನೀವು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ಬಂಗಾರಗಳ ದೇವರುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡಿರಿ.
24 'An altar of earth thou dost make for Me, and thou hast sacrificed on it thy burnt-offerings and thy peace-offerings, thy flock and thy herd; in every place where I cause My name to be remembered I come in unto thee, and have blessed thee.
೨೪ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯನ್ನು ಮಣ್ಣಿನಿಂದ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ನೀವು ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮ, ಸಮಾಧಾನಯಜ್ಞ, ಕುರಿದನಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಬೇಕು. ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸುವೆನು.
25 'And if an altar of stones thou dost make to Me, thou dost not build them of hewn work; when thy tool thou hast waved over it, then thou dost pollute it;
೨೫ನೀವು ನನಗಾಗಿ ಕಲ್ಲಿನಿಂದ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುವುದಾದರೆ, ಅದನ್ನು ಕೆತ್ತಿರುವ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟಬಾರದು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಉಳಿ, ಮುಂತಾದುದನ್ನು ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಿದರೆ ಅದು ಅಪವಿತ್ರವಾಗುವುದು.
26 neither dost thou go up by steps on Mine altar, that thy nakedness be not revealed upon it.
೨೬ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ನನ್ನ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಗ್ನತೆಯು ಕಾಣುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಮೆಟ್ಟಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಬಾರದು’” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
