Exodus 13

1 And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, disant:

2 'Sanctify to Me every first-born, opening any womb among the sons of Israel, among man and among beast; it [is] Mine.'

Consacre-moi tout premier né qui ouvre un sein parmi les enfants d’Israël, tant d’entre les hommes que d’entre les bêtes: car à moi sont toutes choses.

3 And Moses saith unto the people, 'Remember this day [in] which ye have gone out from Egypt, from the house of servants, for by strength of hand hath Jehovah brought you out from this, and any thing fermented is not eaten;

Et Moïse dit au peuple: Souvenez-vous de ce jour auquel vous êtes sortis de l’Egypte et de la maison de servitude; car par une main puissante le Seigneur vous a retirés de ce lieu: vous ne mangerez donc point de pain fermenté.

4 To-day ye are going out, in the month of Abib.

Vous sortez aujourd’hui dans le mois des nouveaux grains.

5 'And it hath been, when Jehovah bringeth thee in unto the land of the Canaanite, and of the Hittite, and of the Amorite, and of the Hivite, and of the Jebusite, which He hath sworn to thy fathers to give to thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou hast done this service in this month.

Et quand le Seigneur t’aura introduit dans la terre du Chananéen, de l’Héthéen, de l’Amorrhéen, de l’Hévéen et du Jébuséen, terre qu’il a juré à tes pères qu’il te donnerait, terre où coulent du lait et du miel, tu célébreras cette pratique sacrée en ce mois.

6 'Seven days thou dost eat unleavened things, and in the seventh day [is] a feast to Jehovah;

Pendant sept jours tu te nourriras d’azymes, et le septième jour sera une solennité du Seigneur.

7 unleavened things are eaten the seven days, and any thing fermented is not seen with thee; yea, leaven is not seen with thee in all thy border.

Vous mangerez des azymes pendant sept jours; il ne paraîtra point de pain fermenté chez toi, ni dans tous tes confins.

8 'And thou hast declared to thy son in that day, saying, '[It is] because of what Jehovah did to me, in my going out from Egypt,

Et tu le raconteras à ton fils en ce jour-là, disant: Voilà ce qu’a fait pour moi le Seigneur, quand je suis sorti de l’Egypte.

9 and it hath been to thee for a sign on thy hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, so that the law of Jehovah is in thy mouth, for by a strong hand hath Jehovah brought thee out from Egypt;

Et ce sera comme un signe en ta main, et comme un monument devant tes yeux, et afin que la loi du Seigneur soit toujours en ta bouche; car c’est avec une main puissante que le Seigneur t’a retiré de l’Egypte.

10 and thou hast kept this statute at its appointed season from days to days.

Tu observeras un culte de cette sorte au temps marqué d’année en année,

11 'And it hath been, when Jehovah bringeth thee in unto the land of the Canaanite, as He hath sworn to thee and to thy fathers, and hath given it to thee,

Et lorsque le Seigneur t’aura introduit dans la terre du Chananéen, comme il l’a juré à toi à tes pères, et qu’il te l’aura donnée,

12 that thou hast caused every one opening a womb to pass over to Jehovah, and every firstling — the increase of beasts which thou hast: the males [are] Jehovah's.

Tu sépareras pour le Seigneur tout ce qui ouvre un sein et ce qui est primitif dans tes troupeaux; tout ce que tu auras du sexe masculin, tu le consacreras au Seigneur.

13 'And every firstling of an ass thou dost ransom with a lamb, and if thou dost not ransom [it], then thou hast beheaded it: and every first-born of man among thy sons thou dost ransom.

Tu échangeras le premier-né de l’âne pour une brebis: que si tu ne le rachètes point, tu le tueras. Mais tout premier-né de l’homme d’entre tes fils, c’est avec de l’argent que tu le rachèteras.

14 'And it hath been, when thy son asketh thee hereafter, saying, What [is] this? that thou hast said unto him, By strength of hand hath Jehovah brought us out from Egypt, from a house of servants;

Et quand ton fils t’interrogera demain, disant: Qu’est-ce que ceci? tu lui répondras: Par une main puissante le Seigneur nous a retirés de la terre d’Egypte, de la maison de servitude.

15 yea, it cometh to pass, when Pharaoh hath been pained to send us away, that Jehovah doth slay every first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of man even unto the first-born of beast; therefore I am sacrificing to Jehovah all opening a womb who [are] males, and every first-born of my sons I ransom;

Car comme Pharaon s’était endurci, et qu’il ne voulait pas nous laisser aller, le Seigneur tua tout premier-né dans la terre d’Egypte, depuis le premier-né de l’homme jusqu’au premier-né des bêtes: c’est pourquoi j’immole au Seigneur tout mâle qui ouvre un sein, et je rachète tous les premiers-nés de mes fils.

16 and it hath been for a token on thy hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes, for by strength of hand hath Jehovah brought us out of Egypt.'

Ce sera donc comme un signe en ta main, et comme quelque chose de suspendu entre tes yeux, pour souvenir; parce que par une main puissante le Seigneur nous a retirés de l’Egypte.

17 And it cometh to pass in Pharaoh's sending the people away, that God hath not led them the way of the land of the Philistines, for it [is] near; for God said, 'Lest the people repent in their seeing war, and have turned back towards Egypt;'

Or, quand Pharaon eut laissé aller le peuple. Dieu ne les conduisit point par le chemin de la terre des Philistins qui est voisine, pensant que peut-être il se repentirait, s’il voyait des guerres s’élever contre lui, et qu’il retournerait en Egypte.

18 and God turneth round the people the way of the wilderness of the Red Sea, and by fifties have the sons of Israel gone up from the land of Egypt.

Mais il leur fit faire un détour par la voie du désert, qui est près de la mer Rouge: ainsi les enfants d’Israël montèrent armés de la terre d’Egypte.

19 And Moses taketh the bones of Joseph with him, for he certainly caused the sons of Israel to swear, saying, 'God doth certainly inspect you, and ye have brought up my bones from this with you.'

Moïse emporta aussi avec lui les os de Joseph, parce que Joseph avait adjuré les enfants d’Israël, disant: Dieu vous visitera; emportez d’ici mes os avec vous.

20 And they journey from Succoth, and encamp in Etham at the extremity of the wilderness,

Partis donc de Socoth, ils campèrent à Etham, à l’extrémité du désert.

21 and Jehovah is going before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them in the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give light to them, to go by day and by night;

Or le Seigneur les précédait pour montrer la voie, le jour dans une colonne de nuée, et la nuit dans une colonne de feu; afin qu’il fût leur guide dans l’un et l’autre temps.

22 He removeth not the pillar of the cloud by day, and the pillar of the fire by night, [from] before the people.

Jamais la colonne de nuée ne disparut devant le peuple durant le jour, ni la colonne de feu durant la nuit.
