Ecclesiastes 4
1 And I have turned, and I see all the oppressions that are done under the sun, and lo, the tear of the oppressed, and they have no comforter; and at the hand of their oppressors [is] power, and they have no comforter.
১আরও আর একবার আমি চিন্তা করলাম সমস্ত অত্যাচারের কথা যা সূর্য্যের নিচে হয়েছে। উপদ্রুতদের চোখের জলের দিকে দেখ। তাদের জন্য সান্ত্বনাকারী নেই। ক্ষমতা তাদের অত্যাচারীদের হাতে, কিন্তু উপদ্রুতদের সান্ত্বনাকারী নেই।
2 And I am praising the dead who have already died above the living who are yet alive.
২তাই আমি মৃতদের অভিনন্দন জানাই, যারা ইতিপূর্বেই মারা গেছে, জীবিতদের নয়, যারা এখন বেঁচে আছে।
3 And better than both of them [is] he who hath not yet been, in that he hath not seen the evil work that hath been done under the sun.
৩যাইহোক, সেই দুজনের থেকে সেই ব্যক্তি বেশি ভাগ্যবান যে এখনও পৃথিবীতে আসেনি ও সূর্য্যের নিচে ঘটে যাওয়া মন্দ কাজগুলো দেখে নি।
4 And I have seen all the labour, and all the benefit of the work, because for it a man is the envy of his neighbour. Even this [is] vanity and vexation of spirit.
৪তারপর আমি দেখলাম যে প্রত্যেক কাজের পরিশ্রম এবং প্রত্যেক কাজের কৌশল একজন প্রতিবেশীর হিংসার কারণ হয়ে ওঠে। এটাও বাষ্প এবং বাতাসকে পরিচালনা করার প্রচেষ্টা।
5 The fool is clasping his hands, and eating his own flesh:
৫বোকা তার হাত গুটিয়ে রাখে এবং কাজ করে না, স সে নিজেকে ধ্বংস করছে।
6 'Better [is] a handful [with] quietness, than two handfuls [with] labour and vexation of spirit.'
৬অনেক কাজে যুক্ত হয়ে হাওয়ায় পরিচালিত হওয়ার চেয়ে বরং নির্দিষ্ট কাজের মাধ্যমে সামান্য মুনাফা ভাল।
7 And I have turned, and I see a vain thing under the sun:
৭তারপর আমি আবার নিস্ফলতার বিষয় চিন্তা করলাম, সূর্য্যের নিচে আরও উবে যাওয়া বাষ্পের বিষয়ে চিন্তা করলাম।
8 There is one, and there is not a second; even son or brother he hath not, and there is no end to all his labour! His eye also is not satisfied with riches, and [he saith not], 'For whom am I labouring and bereaving my soul of good?' This also is vanity, it is a sad travail.
৮এরকম কিছু লোক আছে যারা একা। তার কেউ থাকে না, না ছেলে বা ভাই। তবুও তার কাজের শেষ নেই এবং তার চোখ সম্পত্তি লাভে তৃপ্ত হয় না। সে আশ্চর্য্য হয়, “কার জন্য আমি পরিশ্রম করছি এবং নিজেকে আনন্দ থেকে বঞ্চিত করছি?” এটাও বাষ্প এবং একটা খারাপ পরিস্থিতি।
9 The two [are] better than the one, in that they have a good reward by their labour.
৯একজন লোকের থেকে দুজন লোক ভালো কাজ করে; তাদের পরিশ্রমের জন্য তারা একসঙ্গে ভালো উপার্জন করতে পারে।
10 For if they fall, the one raiseth up his companion, but woe to the one who falleth and there is not a second to raise him up!
১০কারণ একজন যদি পড়ে, আরেক জন তার বন্ধুকে তুলতে পারে। যাইহোক, দুঃখ তাকে অনুসরণ করে যে একা থাকে, যখন সে পড়ে তখন কেউ তাকে তলার থাকে না।
11 Also, if two lie down, then they have heat, but how hath one heat?
১১এবং যদি দুজন একসঙ্গে শোয়, তারা গরম হতে পারে, কিন্তু কীভাবে একজন একা গরম হতে পারে?
12 And if the one strengthen himself, the two stand against him; and the threefold cord is not hastily broken.
১২একজন মানুষ একা হারতে পারে, কিন্তু দুজন আক্রমণ প্রতিরোধ করতে পারে এবং তিনসুতোর দড়ি তাড়াতাড়ি ছেঁড়ে না।
13 Better is a poor and wise youth than an old and foolish king, who hath not known to be warned any more.
১৩একজন বৃদ্ধ এবং বোকা রাজা যে জানে না কীভাবে সাবধানবাণী শুনতে হয় তার থেকে একজন গরিব কিন্তু জ্ঞানবান যুবক ভালো।
14 For from a house of prisoners he hath come out to reign, for even in his own kingdom he hath been poor.
১৪এটা সত্যি যদিওবা কোন যুবক কারাগার থেকে রাজা হয়, বা যদি সে তার রাজ্যে গরিব হয়ে জন্মায়।
15 I have seen all the living, who are walking under the sun, with the second youth who doth stand in his place;
১৫যাইহোক, আমি প্রত্যেককে দেখলাম যারা জীবিত ছিল এবং সূর্য্যের নিচে ঘুরে বেড়াচ্ছিল নিজেদের সমর্পণ করছিল অন্য যুবকের কাছে যে রাজা হয়ে উঠছিল।
16 there is no end to all the people, to all who were before them; also, the latter rejoice not in him. Surely this also is vanity and vexation of spirit.
১৬সেই সমস্ত লোকেদের কোন সীমা নেই যারা নতুন রাজার বাধ্য হতে চায়, কিন্তু পরে অনেকে তারা আর তাঁর গৌরব করবে না। নিশ্চিত এই অবস্থা হল অসার এবং বাতাসকে পরিচালনা করার চেষ্টা।
