Deuteronomy 5

1 And Moses calleth unto all Israel, and saith unto them, 'Hear, Israel, the statutes and the judgments which I am speaking in your ears to-day, and ye have learned them, and have observed to do them.

E Mosè chiamò tutto Israele, e disse loro: Ascolta, Israele, gli statuti e le leggi le quali io pronunzio ogg[i] a' vostri orecchi; imparatele adunque, e osservatele, per metterle in opera.

2 Jehovah our God made with us a covenant in Horeb;

Il Signore Iddio nostro fece patto con noi in Horeb.

3 not with our fathers hath Jehovah made this covenant, but with us; we — these — here to-day — all of us alive.

Il Signore non fece questo patto co' nostri padri, anzi con noi, che siamo oggi qui [e siamo] tutti in vita.

4 Face to face hath Jehovah spoken with you, in the mount, out of the midst of the fire;

Il Signore parlò con voi a faccia a faccia, sul monte, di mezzo al fuoco,

5 I am standing between Jehovah and you, at that time, to declare to you the word of Jehovah, for ye have been afraid from the presence of the fire, and ye have not gone up into the mount; saying:

(stando io in quel tempo fra il Signore e voi, per rapportarvi la parola del Signore; conciossiachè voi temeste per quel fuoco, e non saliste in sul monte), dicendo:

6 'I Jehovah [am] thy God, who hath brought thee out from the land of Egypt, from a house of servants.

Io [sono] il Signore Iddio tuo, che ti ho tratto fuor del paese di Egitto, della casa di servitù.

7 'Thou hast no other gods in My presence.

Non avere altri dii nel mio cospetto.

8 'Thou dost not make to thee a graven image, any similitude which [is] in the heavens above, and which [is] in the earth beneath, and which [is] in the waters under the earth;

Non farti scultura alcuna, [nè] immagine alcuna [di cosa] che [sia] in cielo disopra, nè [di cosa] che [sia] in terra disotto, nè [di cosa] che [sia] nell'acque disotto alla terra.

9 thou dost not bow thyself to them nor serve them, for I Jehovah thy God [am] a zealous God, charging iniquity of fathers on children, and on a third [generation], and on a fourth, to those hating Me;

Non adorar quelle cose, e non servir loro; perciocchè io, il Signore Iddio tuo, [sono] un Dio geloso, che fo punizione dell'iniquità de' padri sopra i figliuoli, fino alla terza e alla quarta [generazione], inverso quelli che m'odiano;

10 and doing kindness to thousands, to those loving Me, and to those keeping My commands.

e uso benignità in mille [generazioni] verso quelli che m'amano, e osservano i miei comandamenti.

11 'Thou dost not take up the Name of Jehovah thy God for a vain thing, for Jehovah doth not acquit him who taketh up His Name for a vain thing.

Non usare il Nome del Signore Iddio tuo in vano; perciocchè il Signore non terrà per innocente chi avrà usato il suo Nome in vano.

12 'Observe the day of the sabbath — to sanctify it, as Jehovah thy God hath commanded thee;

Osserva il giorno del riposo, per santificarlo, siccome il Signore Iddio tuo ti ha comandato.

13 six days thou dost labour, and hast done all thy work,

Lavora sei giorni, e fai ogni opera tua.

14 and the seventh day [is] a sabbath to Jehovah thy God; thou dost not do any work, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy man-servant, and thy handmaid, and thine ox, and thine ass, and all thy cattle, and thy sojourner who [is] within thy gates; so that thy man-servant, and thy handmaid doth rest like thyself;

Ma il settimo giorno [è] il [giorno del] riposo al Signore Iddio tuo; non fare [in esso] lavoro alcuno, nè tu, nè il tuo figliuolo, nè la tua figliuola, nè il tuo servo, nè la tua serva, nè il tuo bue, nè il tuo asino, nè alcuna tua bestia, nè il tuo forestiere, che [è] dentro alle tue porte; acciocchè il tuo servo, e la tua serva, si riposino, come tu.

15 and thou hast remembered that a servant thou hast been in the land of Egypt, and Jehovah thy God is bringing thee out thence by a strong hand, and by a stretched-out arm; therefore hath Jehovah thy God commanded thee to keep the day of the sabbath.

E ricordati che tu sei stato servo nel paese di Egitto, e che il Signore Iddio tuo ti ha tratto fuor di là con potente mano, e con braccio disteso; perciò il Signore Iddio tuo ti comanda che tu osservi il giorno del riposo.

16 'Honour thy father and thy mother, as Jehovah thy God hath commanded thee, so that thy days are prolonged, and so that it is well with thee, on the ground which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee.

Onora tuo padre e tua madre, come il Signore Iddio tuo ti ha comandato; acciocchè i tuoi giorni sieno prolungati; e acciocchè ti sia bene in su la terra che il Signore Iddio tuo ti dà.

17 'Thou dost not murder.

Non uccidere.

18 'Thou dost not commit adultery.

Non commettere adulterio.

19 'Thou dost not steal.

Non furare.

20 'Thou dost not answer against thy neighbour — a false testimony.

Non dir falsa testimonianza contro al tuo prossimo.

21 'Thou dost not desire thy neighbour's wife; nor dost thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, and his man-servant, and his handmaid, his ox, and his ass, and anything which [is] thy neighbour's.

Non concupir la moglie del tuo prossimo; parimente non appetir la casa del tuo prossimo; nè il suo campo, nè il suo servo, nè la sua serva, nè il suo bue, nè il suo asino, nè cosa alcuna che [sia] del tuo prossimo.

22 'These words hath Jehovah spoken unto all your assembly, in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness — a great voice; and He hath not added, and He writeth them on two tables of stone, and giveth them unto me.

Queste parole pronunziò il Signore a tutta la vostra raunanza, sul monte, di mezzo al fuoco, alla nuvola, e alla caligine, ad alta voce; e non le disse altro; e scrisse quelle sopra due Tavole di pietra, le quali egli mi diede.

23 'And it cometh to pass as ye hear the voice out of the midst of the darkness, and of the mountain burning with fire, that ye come near unto me, all the heads of your tribes, and your elders,

Ora, dopo che aveste udita quella voce di mezzo all'oscurità, ardendo il monte in fuoco, voi foste a me, [cioè] tutti i Capi delle vostre tribù, e i vostri Anziani; e diceste:

24 and say, Lo, Jehovah our God hath shewed us His honour, and His greatness; and His voice we have heard out of the midst of the fire; this day we have seen that God doth speak with man — and he hath lived.

Ecco, il Signore Iddio nostro ci ha fatta veder la sua gloria, e la sua grandezza, e noi abbiamo udita la sua voce di mezzo al fuoco; oggi abbiamo veduto che, parlando Iddio con l'uomo, esso è rimasto in vita.

25 'And, now, why do we die? for consume us doth this great fire — if we add to hear the voice of Jehovah our God any more — then we have died.

Ora dunque, perchè morremmo noi? perciocchè questo gran fuoco ci consumerà; se noi seguitiamo a udire ancora la voce del Signore Iddio nostro, noi morremo.

26 For who of all flesh [is] he who hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire like us — and doth live?

Imperocchè, quale [è] la carne, qual ch'ella sia, che, avendo udita la voce del vivente Iddio, parlante di mezzo al fuoco, come [abbiamo udito] noi, sia restata in vita?

27 Draw near thou, and hear all that which Jehovah our God saith, and thou, thou dost speak unto us all that which Jehovah our God speaketh unto thee, and we have hearkened, and done it.

Accostati tu, e ascolta tutto ciò che il Signore Iddio nostro dirà; e tu ci rapporterai tutto ciò che il Signore Iddio nostro ti avrà detto, e noi l'ascolteremo, e lo faremo.

28 'And Jehovah heareth the voice of your words, in your speaking unto me, and Jehovah saith unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken unto thee; they have done well [in] all that they have spoken.

E il Signore udì la voce delle vostre parole, mentre parlavate meco. E il Signore mi disse: Io ho udita la voce delle parole di questo popolo, ch'egli ti ha dette; essi hanno ben parlato in tutto ciò che hanno detto.

29 O that their heart had been thus to them, to fear Me, and to keep My commands all the days, that it may be well with them, and with their sons — to the age!

Oh! avessero pur sempre un tal animo per temermi, e per osservar tutti i miei comandamenti, acciocchè fosse bene a loro, e a' lor figliuoli, in perpetuo!

30 'Go, say to them, Turn back for yourselves, to your tents;

Va', di' loro: Ritornate alle vostre tende.

31 and thou here stand thou with Me, and let Me speak unto thee all the command, and the statutes, and the judgments which thou dost teach them, and they have done in the land which I am giving to them to possess it.

Ma tu, resta qui meco, ed io ti dirò tutti i comandamenti, e gli statuti, e le leggi, che tu devi loro insegnare, e ch'essi debbono mettere in opera, nel paese che io do loro, per possederlo.

32 'And ye have observed to do as Jehovah your God hath commanded you, ye turn not aside — right or left;

Prendete adunque guardia di far secondo che il Signore Iddio vostro vi ha comandato; non ve [ne] rivolgete nè a destra nè a sinistra.

33 in all the way which Jehovah your God hath commanded you ye walk, so that ye live, and [it is] well with you, and ye have prolonged days in the land which ye possess.

Camminate per tutta la via che il Signore Iddio vostro vi ha comandata, acciocchè viviate, e vi [sia] bene, e prolunghiate i [vostri] giorni, nel paese che voi possederete.
