Colossians 2
1 For I wish you to know how great a conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,
Car je veux que vous sachiez combien est grand le combat que je soutiens pour vous, pour ceux de Laodicée, et pour tous ceux qui ne me connaissent pas de visage,
2 that their hearts may be comforted, being united in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of the understanding, to the full knowledge of the secret of the God and Father, and of the Christ,
afin que vos coeurs soient réconfortés, et qu'étant unis par la charité, vous soyez enrichis d'une pleine conviction de l'intelligence et d'une juste connaissance du mystère du Dieu de Christ,
3 in whom are all the treasures of the wisdom and the knowledge hid,
où se trouvent renfermés tous les trésors de la sagesse et de la science.
4 and this I say, that no one may beguile you in enticing words,
Je vous dis cela, afin que personne ne vous induise en erreur par des raisons spécieuses;
5 for if even in the flesh I am absent — yet in the spirit I am with you, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in regard to Christ;
car si je suis absent de corps, je suis néanmoins avec vous en esprit, heureux de voir l'ordre qui règne chez vous, et la solidité de votre foi en Christ.
6 as, then, ye did receive Christ Jesus the Lord, in him walk ye,
Ainsi donc, comme vous avez reçu le Seigneur Jésus-Christ,
7 being rooted and built up in him, and confirmed in the faith, as ye were taught — abounding in it in thanksgiving.
attachez-vous aussi à lui dans toute votre conduite, étant enracinés en lui, et vous édifiant sur ce fondement, étant affermis par la foi, telle qu'elle vous a été enseignée, et y faisant toujours de nouveaux progrès, avec reconnaissance.
8 See that no one shall be carrying you away as spoil through the philosophy and vain deceit, according to the deliverance of men, according to the rudiments of the world, and not according to Christ,
Prenez garde que personne ne fasse de vous sa proie par la philosophie, vaine illusion qui appartient aux enseignements des hommes, aux grossières instructions du monde, et non à Christ;
9 because in him doth tabernacle all the fulness of the Godhead bodily,
car c'est en lui qu'habite toute la perfection de la Divinité, corporellement,
10 and ye are in him made full, who is the head of all principality and authority,
et en lui, vous êtes parfaits: lui, qui est le chef de toute principauté et de toute puissance;
11 in whom also ye were circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh in the circumcision of the Christ,
lui en qui vous avez été circoncis d'une circoncision qui n'est pas de main d'homme, par le dépouillement des influences charnelles du corps, par la circoncision de Christ,
12 being buried with him in the baptism, in which also ye rose with [him] through the faith of the working of God, who did raise him out of the dead.
lorsque vous avez été ensevelis avec lui dans le baptême où vous êtes aussi ressuscités avec lui par la foi en la puissance de Dieu, qui l'a ressuscité des morts.
13 And you — being dead in the trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh — He made alive together with him, having forgiven you all the trespasses,
Lorsque nous étions morts dans nos fautes et dans l'incirconcision de notre chair, Dieu nous a rappelés avec Christ à la vie, en nous faisant grâce pour toutes nos fautes.
14 having blotted out the handwriting in the ordinances that is against us, that was contrary to us, and he hath taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross;
Il a biffé l'acte, dont les clauses nous étaient contraires, et l'a supprimé en le clouant à la croix;
15 having stripped the principalities and the authorities, he made a shew of them openly — having triumphed over them in it.
il a dépouillé les principautés et les puissances du mal, et les a données en spectacle au monde, en les menant en triomphe par la croix.
16 Let no one, then, judge you in eating or in drinking, or in respect of a feast, or of a new moon, or of sabbaths,
Que personne donc ne vous juge à l'égard du manger et du boire, ou au sujet d'une fête, d'une nouvelle lune ou d'un sabbat:
17 which are a shadow of the coming things, and the body [is] of the Christ;
ce n'est là que l'ombre des choses à venir, tandis que la réalité se trouve en Christ.
18 let no one beguile you of your prize, delighting in humble-mindedness and [in] worship of the messengers, intruding into the things he hath not seen, being vainly puffed up by the mind of his flesh,
Que nul ne vous fasse perdre le prix, en vous poussant, sous couleur d'humilité, à rendre un culte aux anges. Ces gens follement enflés par leurs idées charnelles, s'embarquent dans des rêveries,
19 and not holding the head, from which all the body — through the joints and bands gathering supply, and being knit together — may increase with the increase of God.
et ne s'attachent pas au chef, de qui, tout le corps bien constitué et bien lié au moyen des jointures et des ligaments, tire son développement par la croissance que Dieu donne.
20 If, then, ye did die with the Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances?
Si vous êtes morts avec Christ aux grossières instructions du monde, pourquoi, comme si vous viviez de la vie du monde, vous laissez-vous dicter ces arrêts:
21 — thou mayest not touch, nor taste, nor handle —
«Ne prends pas! ne goûte pas! ne touche pas!
22 which are all for destruction with the using, after the commands and teachings of men,
ce sont des choses qui, toutes, corrompent par l'usage qu'on en fait» — Ces défenses ne sont que des commandements et des enseignements d'hommes;
23 which are, indeed, having a matter of wisdom in will-worship, and humble-mindedness, and neglecting of body — not in any honour, unto a satisfying of the flesh.
elles ont, il est vrai, un renom de sagesse par le fait d'un culte volontaire, d'un sentiment d'humilité, et d'une rigueur exercée à l'égard du corps, mais elles sont sans valeur aucune, parce qu'elles ne servent qu'à la satisfaction de la chair.
