Amos 4
1 Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, Who [are] in the mountain of Samaria, Who are oppressing the poor, Who are bruising the needy, Who are saying to their lords: 'Bring in, and we do drink.'
Ouvi esta palavra, vós, vaccas de Basan, vós, que estaes no monte de Samaria, vós, que opprimis aos pobres, que quebrantaes os necessitados, vós, que dizeis a seus senhores: Dae cá, para que bebamos.
2 Sworn hath the Lord Jehovah by His holiness, That lo, days are coming upon you, And he hath taken you away with hooks, And your posterity with fish-hooks.
Jurou o Senhor Jehovah, pela sua sanctidade, que eis que dias estão para vir sobre vós, em que vos levarão com anzoes e a vossos descendentes com anzoes de pesca.
3 And [by] breaches ye go forth, A woman [at that] over-against her, And ye have cast down the high place, An affirmation of Jehovah.
E saireis pelas brechas, uma após outra, e lançareis fóra o que levastes para o palacio, disse o Senhor.
4 Enter ye Beth-El, and transgress, At Gilgal multiply transgression, And bring in every morning your sacrifices, Every third year your tithes.
Vinde a Beth-el, e transgredi, em Gilgal augmentae as transgressões, e de manhã trazei os vossos sacrificios, e os vossos dizimos ao terceiro dia.
5 And perfume with leaven a thank-offering, And proclaim willing gifts, sound ye! For so ye have loved, O sons of Israel, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.
E queimae o sacrificio de louvores do pão levedado, e apregoae os sacrificios voluntarios, fazei-o ouvir; porque assim o quereis, ó filhos de Israel, disse o Senhor Jehovah.
6 And I also — I have given to you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, And lack of bread in all your places, And ye have not turned back unto Me, an affirmation of Jehovah.
Por isso tambem vos dei limpeza de dentes em todas as vossas cidades, e falta de pão em todos os vossos logares; comtudo não vos convertestes a mim, disse o Senhor.
7 And I also — I have withheld from you the rain. While yet three months to harvest, And I have sent rain on one city, And on another city I do not send rain, One portion is rained on, And the portion on which it raineth not withereth.
Além d'isso, retive de vós a chuva, faltando ainda tres mezes até á sega; e fiz chover sobre uma cidade, e sobre outra cidade não fiz chover; sobre um campo choveu, mas o outro, sobre o qual não choveu, se seccou.
8 And wandered have two or three cities, Unto the same city to drink water, And they are not satisfied, And ye have not turned back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.
E andaram vagabundas duas ou tres cidades a uma cidade, para beberem agua, mas não se saciaram: comtudo não vos convertestes a mim, disse o Senhor.
9 I have smitten you with blasting and with mildew, The abundance of your gardens and of your vineyards, And of your figs, and of your olives, Eat doth the palmer-worm, And ye have not turned back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.
Feri-vos com queimadura, e com ferrugem; a multidão das vossas hortas, e das vossas vinhas, e das vossas figueiras, e das vossas oliveiras, comeu a locusta; comtudo não vos convertestes a mim, disse o Senhor.
10 I have sent among you pestilence by the way of Egypt, I have slain by sword your choice ones, With your captive horses, And I cause the stink of your camps to come up — even into your nostrils, And ye have not turned back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.
Enviei a peste contra vós, á maneira do Egypto: os vossos mancebos matei á espada, e os vossos cavallos deixei levar presos, e o fedor dos vossos exercitos fiz subir aos vossos narizes; comtudo não vos convertestes a mim, disse o Senhor.
11 I have overturned among you, Like the overturn by God of Sodom and Gomorrah, And ye are as a brand delivered from a burning, And ye have not turned back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.
Subverti a alguns d'entre vós, como Deus subverteu a Sodoma e Gomorrah, sendo vós como um tição arrebatado do incendio; comtudo não vos convertestes a mim, disse o Senhor.
12 Therefore, thus I do to thee, O Israel, at last, Because this I do to thee, Prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.
Portanto, assim te farei, ó Israel! Porquanto pois isto te farei, prepara-te, ó Israel, a encontrares o teu Deus.
13 For, lo, the former of mountains, and creator of wind, And the declarer to man what [is] His thought, He is making dawn obscurity, And is treading on high places of earth, Jehovah, God of Hosts, [is] His name!
Porque eis que o que fórma os montes, e cria o vento, e declara ao homem qual seja o seu pensamento, o que faz da manhã trevas, e piza os altos da terra, o Senhor Deus dos Exercitos é o seu nome.
