< 2 Timothy 2 >

1 Thou, therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that [is] in Christ Jesus,

2 and the things that thou didst hear from me through many witnesses, these things be committing to stedfast men, who shall be sufficient also others to teach;

3 thou, therefore, suffer evil as a good soldier of Jesus Christ;
tva. m yii"sukhrii. s.tasyottamo yoddheva kle"sa. m sahasva|
4 no one serving as a soldier did entangle himself with the affairs of life, that him who did enlist him he may please;
yo yuddha. m karoti sa saa. msaarike vyaapaare magno na bhavati kintu svaniyojayitre rocitu. m ce. s.tate|
5 and if also any one may strive, he is not crowned, except he may strive lawfully;
apara. m yo mallai ryudhyati sa yadi niyamaanusaare. na na yuddhyati tarhi kirii. ta. m na lapsyate|
6 the labouring husbandman it behoveth first of the fruits to partake;
apara. m ya. h k. r.siivala. h karmma karoti tena prathamena phalabhaaginaa bhavitavya. m|
7 be considering what things I say, for the Lord give to thee understanding in all things.
mayaa yaducyate tat tvayaa budhyataa. m yata. h prabhustubhya. m sarvvatra buddhi. m daasyati|
8 Remember Jesus Christ, raised out of the dead, of the seed of David, according to my good news,
mama susa. mvaadasya vacanaanusaaraad daayuudva. m"siiya. m m. rtaga. namadhyaad utthaapita nca yii"su. m khrii. s.ta. m smara|
9 in which I suffer evil — unto bonds, as an evil-doer, but the word of God hath not been bound;
tatsusa. mvaadakaara. naad aha. m du. skarmmeva bandhanada"saaparyyanta. m kle"sa. m bhu nje kintvii"svarasya vaakyam abaddha. m ti. s.thati|
10 because of this all things do I endure, because of the choice ones, that they also salvation may obtain that [is] in Christ Jesus, with glory age-during. (aiōnios g166)
khrii. s.tena yii"sunaa yad anantagauravasahita. m paritraa. na. m jaayate tadabhirucitai rlokairapi yat labhyeta tadarthamaha. m te. saa. m nimitta. m sarvvaa. nyetaani sahe| (aiōnios g166)
11 Stedfast [is] the word: For if we died together — we also shall live together;
aparam e. saa bhaaratii satyaa yadi vaya. m tena saarddha. m mriyaamahe tarhi tena saarddha. m jiivivyaama. h, yadi ca kle"sa. m sahaamahe tarhi tena saarddha. m raajatvamapi kari. syaamahe|
12 if we do endure together — we shall also reign together; if we deny [him], he also shall deny us;
yadi vaya. m tam ana"ngiikurmmastarhi so. asmaanapyana"ngiikari. syati|
13 if we are not stedfast, he remaineth stedfast; to deny himself he is not able.
yadi vaya. m na vi"svaasaamastarhi sa vi"svaasyasti. s.thati yata. h svam apahnotu. m na "saknoti|
14 These things remind [them] of, testifying fully before the Lord — not to strive about words to nothing profitable, but to the subversion of those hearing;
tvametaani smaarayan te yathaa ni. sphala. m "srot. r.naa. m bhra. m"sajanaka. m vaagyuddha. m na kuryyastathaa prabho. h samak. sa. m d. r.dha. m viniiyaadi"sa|
15 be diligent to present thyself approved to God — a workman irreproachable, rightly dividing the word of the truth;
apara. m tvam ii"svarasya saak. saat sva. m pariik. sitam anindaniiyakarmmakaari. na nca satyamatasya vaakyaanaa. m sadvibhajane nipu. na nca dar"sayitu. m yatasva|
16 and the profane vain talkings stand aloof from, for to more impiety they will advance,
kintvapavitraa anarthakakathaa duuriikuru yatastadaalambina uttarottaram adharmme varddhi. syante,
17 and their word as a gangrene will have pasture, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus,
te. saa nca vaakya. m galitak. satavat k. sayavarddhako bhavi. syati te. saa. m madhye huminaaya. h philiita"scetinaamaanau dvau janau satyamataad bhra. s.tau jaatau,
18 who concerning the truth did swerve, saying the rising again to have already been, and do overthrow the faith of some;
m. rtaanaa. m punarutthiti rvyatiiteti vadantau ke. saa ncid vi"svaasam utpaa. tayata"sca|
19 sure, nevertheless, hath the foundation of God stood, having this seal, 'The Lord hath known those who are His,' and 'Let him depart from unrighteousness — every one who is naming the name of Christ.'
tathaapii"svarasya bhittimuulam acala. m ti. s.thati tasmi. m"sceya. m lipi rmudraa"nkitaa vidyate| yathaa, jaanaati parame"sastu svakiiyaan sarvvamaanavaan| apagacched adharmmaacca ya. h ka"scit khrii. s.tanaamak. rt||
20 And in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth, and some to honour, and some to dishonour:
kintu b. rhanniketane kevala suvar. namayaani raupyamayaa. ni ca bhaajanaani vidyanta iti tarhi kaa. s.thamayaani m. r.nmayaanyapi vidyante te. saa nca kiyanti sammaanaaya kiyantapamaanaaya ca bhavanti|
21 if, then, any one may cleanse himself from these, he shall be a vessel to honour, sanctified and profitable to the master — to every good work having been prepared,
ato yadi ka"scid etaad. r"sebhya. h sva. m pari. skaroti tarhi sa paavita. m prabho. h kaaryyayogya. m sarvvasatkaaryyaayopayukta. m sammaanaarthaka nca bhaajana. m bhavi. syati|
22 and the youthful lusts flee thou, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those calling upon the Lord out of a pure heart;
yauvanaavasthaayaa abhilaa. saastvayaa parityajyantaa. m dharmmo vi"svaasa. h prema ye ca "sucimanobhi. h prabhum uddi"sya praarthanaa. m kurvvate tai. h saarddham aikyabhaava"scaite. su tvayaa yatno vidhiiyataa. m|
23 and the foolish and uninstructed questions be avoiding, having known that they beget strife,
apara. m tvam anarthakaan aj naanaa. m"sca pra"snaan vaagyuddhotpaadakaan j naatvaa duuriikuru|
24 and a servant of the Lord it behoveth not to strive, but to be gentle unto all, apt to teach, patient under evil,
yata. h prabho rdaasena yuddham akarttavya. m kintu sarvvaan prati "saantena "sik. saadaanecchukena sahi. s.nunaa ca bhavitavya. m, vipak. saa"sca tena namratvena cetitavyaa. h|
25 in meekness instructing those opposing — if perhaps God may give to them repentance to an acknowledging of the truth,
tathaa k. rte yadii"svara. h satyamatasya j naanaartha. m tebhyo mana. hparivarttanaruupa. m vara. m dadyaat,
26 and they may awake out of the devil's snare, having been caught by him at his will.
tarhi te yena "sayataanena nijaabhilaa. sasaadhanaaya dh. rtaastasya jaalaat cetanaa. m praapyoddhaara. m labdhu. m "sak. syanti|
