2 Kings 7

1 And Elisha saith, 'Hear ye a word of Jehovah: thus said Jehovah, About this time to-morrow, a measure of fine flour [is] at a shekel, and two measures of barley at a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.'

Alors Elisée dit: Ecoutez la parole de l'Eternel. Ainsi a dit l'Eternel: Demain à cette heure-ci [on donnera] le sat de fine farine pour un sicle, et les deux sats d'orge pour un sicle, à la porte de Samarie.

2 And the captain whom the king hath, by whose hand he hath been supported, answereth the man of God and saith, 'Lo, Jehovah is making windows in the heavens — shall this thing be?' and he saith, 'Lo, thou art seeing it with thine eyes, and thereof thou dost not eat.'

Mais un capitaine, sur la main duquel le Roi s'appuyait, répondit à l'homme de Dieu, et dit: Quand l'Eternel ferait maintenant des ouvertures au ciel, cela arriverait-il? Et Elisée dit: Voilà, tu le verras de tes yeux, mais tu n'en mangeras point.

3 And four men have been leprous, at the opening of the gate, and they say one unto another, 'What — we are sitting here till we have died;

Or il y avait à l'entrée de la porte quatre hommes lépreux, et ils dirent l'un à l'autre: Pourquoi demeurons-nous ici, jusqu'à ce que nous mourions?

4 if we have said, We go in to the city, then the famine [is] in the city, and we have died there; and if we have sat here, then we have died; and now, come and we fall unto the camp of Aram; if they keep us alive, we live, and if they put us to death — we have died.'

Si nous parlons d'entrer dans la ville, la famine y est, et nous mourrons là; et si nous demeurons ici, nous mourrons aussi. Maintenant donc venez, et glissons-nous au camp des Syriens; s'ils nous laissent vivre, nous vivrons, et s'ils nous font mourir, nous mourrons.

5 And they rise in the twilight, to go in unto the camp of Aram, and they come in unto the extremity of the camp of Aram, and lo, there is not a man there,

C'est pourquoi ils se levèrent avant le jour pour entrer au camp des Syriens, et ils vinrent jusqu'à l'un des bouts du camp, et voilà il n'y avait personne.

6 seeing Jehovah hath caused the camp of Aram to hear a noise of chariot and a noise of horse — a noise of great force, and they say one unto another, 'Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Egypt, to come against us.'

Car le Seigneur avait fait entendre dans le camp des Syriens un bruit de chariots, et un bruit de chevaux, et un bruit d'une grande armée; de sorte qu'ils avaient dit l'un à l'autre: Voilà le Roi d'Israël a payé les Rois des Héthiens, et les Rois des Egyptiens pour venir contre nous.

7 And they rise and flee in the twilight, and forsake their tents, and their horses, and their asses — the camp as it [is] — and flee for their life.

C'est pourquoi ils s'étaient levés avant le point du jour, et s'étaient enfuis, et ils avaient laissé leurs tentes, leurs chevaux, leurs ânes, et le camp comme il était; et ils s'étaient enfuis pour [sauver] leur vie.

8 And these lepers come in unto the extremity of the camp, and come in unto one tent, and eat, and drink, and lift up thence silver, and gold, and garments, and go and hide; and they turn back and go in unto another tent, and lift up thence, and go and hide.

Ces lépreux-là donc entrèrent jusqu'à l'un des bouts du camp, puis ils vinrent dans une tente, ils mangèrent, ils burent, ils prirent de là de l'argent, de l'or, et des vêtements, et ils s'en allèrent, et les cachèrent. Après quoi ils retournèrent et entrèrent dans une autre tente, et prirent de là aussi [des mêmes choses], et s'en allèrent, et les cachèrent.

9 And they say one unto another, 'We are not doing right this day; a day of tidings it [is], and we are keeping silent; and — we have waited till the light of the morning, then hath punishment found us; and now, come and we go in and declare to the house of the king.'

Alors ils dirent l'un à l'autre: Nous ne faisons pas bien; ce jour est un jour de bonnes nouvelles, et nous ne disons mot! si nous attendons jusqu'à ce que le jour soit venu, l'iniquité nous trouvera; maintenant donc venez, allons, et faisons-le savoir à la maison du Roi.

10 And they come in, and call unto the gatekeeper of the city, and declare for themselves, saying, 'We have come in unto the camp of Aram, and lo, there is not there a man, or sound of man, but the bound horse, and the bound ass, and tents as they [are].'

Ils vinrent donc, et crièrent aux portiers de la ville, et leur firent entendre, en disant: Nous sommes entrés dans le camp des Syriens, et voilà, il n'y a personne, et on n'y entend la voix d'aucun homme; mais il y a seulement des chevaux attachés, et des ânes attachés, et les tentes sont comme elles étaient.

11 and he calleth the gatekeepers, and they declare to the house of the king within.

Alors les portiers s'écrièrent; et le firent entendre dans la maison du Roi.

12 And the king riseth by night, and saith unto his servants, 'Let me declare, I pray you, to you that which the Aramaeans have done to us; they have known that we are famished, and they are gone out from the camp to be hidden in the field, saying, When they come out from the city, then we catch them alive, and unto the city we enter.'

Et le Roi se leva de nuit, et dit à ses serviteurs: Je vous dirai maintenant ce que les Syriens nous auront fait. Ils ont connu que nous sommes affamés, et ils seront sortis du camp pour se cacher aux champs, disant: Quand ils seront sortis hors de la ville, nous les prendrons vifs, et nous entrerons dans la ville.

13 And one of his servants answereth and saith, 'Then let them take, I pray thee, five of the horses that are left, that have been left in it — lo, they [are] as all the multitude of Israel who have been left in it; lo, they are as all the multitude of Israel who have been consumed — and we send and see.'

Qu'on prenne tout-à-l'heure cinq des chevaux qui sont demeurés de reste dans la ville; [car] voilà c'est presque tout ce qui est resté du grand nombre des chevaux d'Israël, c'est là presque tout ce qui n'a point été consumé de cette multitude [de chevaux] d'Israël, et envoyons voir ce que c'est.

14 And they take two chariot-horses, and the king sendeth after the camp of Aram, saying, 'Go, and see.'

Ils prirent donc deux chevaux de chariot, et ainsi le Roi envoya après le camp des Syriens, en disant: Allez, et voyez.

15 And they go after them unto the Jordan, and lo, all the way is full of garments and vessels that the Aramaeans have cast away in their haste, and the messengers turn back and declare to the king.

Et ils s'en allèrent après eux jusqu'au Jourdain, et voilà, le chemin était plein de vêtements, et de hardes que les Syriens avaient jetées en se hâtant; puis les messagers retournèrent, et le rapportèrent au Roi.

16 And the people go out and spoil the camp of Aram, and there is a measure of fine flour at a shekel, and two measures of barley at a shekel, according to the word of Jehovah.

Alors le peuple sortit, et pilla le camp des Syriens, de sorte qu'on donna le sat de fine farine pour un sicle, et les deux sats d'orge pour un sicle, selon la parole de l'Eternel.

17 And the king hath appointed the captain, by whose hand he is supported, over the gate, and the people tread him down in the gate, and he dieth, as the man of God spake, which he spake in the coming down of the king unto him,

Et le Roi donna charge de garder la porte, au capitaine, sur la main duquel il s'appuyait; et le peuple le foula à la porte, tellement qu'il mourut, suivant ce que l'homme de Dieu avait dit, en parlant au Roi lorsqu'il était descendu vers lui.

18 yea, it cometh to pass, according to the speaking of the man of God unto the king, saying, 'Two measures of barley at a shekel, and a measure of fine flour at a shekel are, at this time to-morrow, in the gate of Samaria;'

Car lorsque l'homme de Dieu avait parlé au Roi, en disant: Demain au matin à cette heure-ci, on donnera à la porte de Samarie les deux sats d'orge pour un sicle, et le sat de fine farine pour un sicle;

19 and the captain answereth the man of God, and saith, 'And lo, Jehovah is making windows in the heavens — it is according to this word?' and he saith, 'Lo, thou art seeing with thine eyes, and thereof thou dost not eat;'

Ce capitaine-là avait répondu à l'homme de Dieu, et avait dit: Quand maintenant l'Eternel ferait des ouvertures au ciel, ce que tu dis pourrait-il arriver? Et [l'homme de Dieu] avait dit: Voilà, tu le verras de tes yeux, mais tu n'en mangeras point.

20 and it cometh to him so, and the people tread him down in the gate, and he dieth.

Il lui en arriva donc ainsi; car le peuple le foula à la porte, de sorte qu'il mourut.
