< 2 Kings 6 >
1 And sons of the prophet say unto Elisha, 'Lo, we pray thee, the place where we are dwelling before thee is too strait for us;
Na rĩrĩ, thiritũ ya anabii ĩkĩĩra Elisha atĩrĩ, “Rora, handũ haha tũgomanaga nawe nĩ hanini mũno.
2 let us go, we pray thee, unto the Jordan, and we take thence each one beam, and we make for ourselves there a place to dwell there;' and he saith, 'Go.'
Twĩtĩkĩrie tũthiĩ Jorodani, o mũndũ witũ akuue ĩtugĩ kuo; na ũtwĩtĩkĩrie twake handũ ha gũtũũraga kũu.” Nake akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Thiĩi.”
3 And the one saith, 'Be pleased, I pray thee, and go with thy servants;' and he saith, 'I — I go.'
Ningĩ ũmwe wao akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ndagũthaitha wĩtĩkĩre gũthiĩ na ndungata ciaku.” Nake Elisha agĩcookia atĩrĩ, “Ĩĩ, nĩtũgũthiĩ na inyuĩ.”
4 And he goeth with them, and they come in to the Jordan, and cut down the trees,
Nake Elisha agĩthiĩ hamwe nao. Nao magĩthiĩ Jorodani na makĩambĩrĩria gũtema mĩtĩ.
5 and it cometh to pass, the one is felling the beam, and the iron hath fallen into the water, and he crieth and saith, 'Alas! my lord, and it asked!'
Na rĩrĩa ũmwe wao aatemaga mũtĩ-rĩ, ithanwa rĩkĩgũa maaĩ-inĩ. Nake agĩkaya, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Mwathi wakwa, riuma rĩa kũhooya!”
6 And the man of God saith, 'Whither hath it fallen?' and he sheweth him the place, and he cutteth a stick, and casteth thither, and causeth the iron to swim,
Nake mũndũ wa Ngai akĩũria atĩrĩ, “Rĩagũa ha?” Na rĩrĩa aamuonirie handũ hau, Elisha agĩtinia kamũtĩ, agĩgaikia ho, narĩo ithanwa rĩkĩrera maaĩ igũrũ.
7 and saith, 'Raise to thee;' and he putteth forth his hand and taketh it.
Nake akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Oya ithanwa.” Nake mũndũ ũcio agĩtambũrũkia guoko, akĩrĩoya.
8 And the king of Aram hath been fighting against Israel, and taketh counsel with his servants, saying, 'At such and such a place [is] my encamping.'
Na rĩrĩ, mũthamaki wa Suriata aarĩ na mbaara na andũ a Isiraeli. Thuutha wa kũrĩkanĩra na anene ake, akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Ngwamba kambĩ handũ hana na hana.”
9 And the man of God sendeth unto the king of Israel, saying, 'Take heed of passing by this place, for thither are the Aramaeans coming down;
Mũndũ wa Ngai agĩtũmana kũrĩ mũthamaki wa Isiraeli, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Wĩhũũge, na ndũkagerere handũ hana tondũ andũ a Suriata nĩho maraikũrũkĩra.”
10 and the king of Israel sendeth unto the place of which the man of God spake to him, and warned him, and he is preserved there not once nor twice.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio mũthamaki wa Isiraeli agĩtũma andũ magatuĩrie ũhoro wa handũ hau mũndũ wa Ngai aarĩtie ũhoro waho. Mahinda maingĩ Elisha nĩeragĩra mũthamaki wa Isiraeli kũndũ kũrĩa aagĩrĩirwo nĩ kwĩmenyerera, nake agaikaraga ehũũgĩte.
11 And the heart of the king of Aram is tossed about concerning this thing, and he calleth unto his servants, and saith unto them, 'Do ye not declare to me who of us [is] for the king of Israel?'
Ũndũ ũcio ũkĩrakaria mũthamaki wa Suriata mũno. Nake agĩĩta anene ake na akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Ngwenda kũmenya kuuma kũrĩ inyuĩ ũũ, nũũ witũ ũrĩ mwena wa mũthamaki wa Isiraeli?”
12 And one of his servants saith, 'Nay, my lord, O king, for Elisha the prophet, who [is] in Israel, declareth to the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in the inner part of thy bed-chamber.'
Nake ũmwe wa anene ake akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mũthamaki mwathi wakwa, gũtirĩ o na ũmwe witũ ũrĩ mwena wake. No rĩrĩ, Elisha ũrĩa mũnabii kũu Isiraeli nĩwe wĩraga mũthamaki wa Isiraeli ciugo nginya iria waragia ũrĩ nyũmba yaku ya toro.”
13 And he saith, 'Go ye and see where he [is], and I send and take him;' and it is declared to him, saying, 'Lo — in Dothan.'
Nake mũthamaki agĩathana, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Thiĩi mũgatuĩrie kũrĩa arĩ, nĩguo ndũme andũ mamũnyiite.” Nake mũthamaki agĩcookerio ũhoro akĩĩrwo atĩrĩ, “Elisha arĩ Dothani.”
14 And he sendeth thither horses and chariot, and a heavy force, and they come in by night, and go round against the city.
Nake mũthamaki agĩtũma mbarathi na ngaari cia ita, na mbũtũ yarĩ na hinya kũu. Igĩthiĩ ũtukũ, ikĩrigiicĩria itũũra rĩu.
15 And the servant of the man of God riseth early, and goeth out, and lo, a force is surrounding the city, and horse and chariot, and his young man saith unto him, 'Alas! my lord, how do we do?'
Na rĩrĩa ndungata ya mũndũ wa Ngai yokĩrire, ĩkiuma nja rũciinĩ tene, ĩkĩona atĩ mbũtũ ya ita, na mbarathi, na ngaari cia ita nĩciarigiicĩirie itũũra. Nayo ndungata ĩkĩũria atĩrĩ, “Wũi, mwathi wakwa-ĩ, tũgwĩka atĩa?”
16 And he saith, 'Fear not, for more [are] they who [are] with us than they who [are] with them.'
Nake mũnabii akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Tiga gwĩtigĩra, nĩgũkorwo arĩa marĩ mwena witũ nĩ aingĩ gũkĩra arĩa marĩ mwena wao.”
17 And Elisha prayeth, and saith, 'Jehovah, open, I pray Thee, his eyes, and he doth see;' and Jehovah openeth the eyes of the young man, and he seeth, and lo, the hill is full of horses and chariots of fire, round about Elisha.
Nake Elisha akĩhooya atĩrĩ, “Wee Jehova, mũhingũre maitho nĩguo oone.” Nake Jehova akĩhingũra maitho ma ndungata ĩyo, nayo ĩkĩrora, ĩkĩona kũu irĩma-inĩ kũiyũire mbarathi na ngaari cia ita irĩ na mwaki, ciothe irigiicĩirie Elisha.
18 And they come down unto it, and Elisha prayeth unto Jehovah, and saith, 'Smite, I pray Thee, this nation with blindness;' and He smiteth them with blindness, according to the word of Elisha.
Na rĩrĩa thũ ciake ciaikũrũkaga irorete kũrĩ we-rĩ, Elisha akĩhooya Jehova, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Hũũra andũ aya na ũtumumu.” Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jehova akĩmahũũra na ũtumumu, o ta ũrĩa Elisha aahooete.
19 And Elisha saith unto them, 'This [is] not the way, nor [is] this the city; come after me, and I lead you unto the man whom ye seek;' and he leadeth them to Samaria.
Elisha akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Ĩno tiyo njĩra, o na rĩĩrĩ tirĩo itũũra. Nũmĩrĩrai, na nĩngũmũtwara kũrĩ mũndũ ũrĩa mũracaria.” Nake akĩmatwara nginya Samaria.
20 And it cometh to pass, at their coming in to Samaria, that Elisha saith, 'Jehovah, open the eyes of these, and they see;' and Jehovah openeth their eyes, and they see, and lo, in the midst of Samaria!
Maarĩkia kũingĩra itũũra rĩu inene, Elisha akiuga atĩrĩ, “Jehova hingũra andũ aya maitho nĩgeetha mone.” Nake Jehova akĩmahingũra maitho, nao makĩona, magĩĩkora marĩ thĩinĩ wa Samaria.
21 And the king of Israel saith unto Elisha, at his seeing them, 'Do I smite — do I smite — my father?'
Rĩrĩa mũthamaki wa Isiraeli aamoonire-rĩ, akĩũria Elisha atĩrĩ, “Baba ndĩmoorage? Nĩ wega ndĩmoorage?”
22 And he saith, 'Thou dost not smite; those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow art thou smiting? set bread and water before them, and they eat, and drink, and go unto their lord.'
Nake Elisha akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Ndũkamoorage. No ũũrage andũ arĩa wĩnyiitĩire na rũhiũ rwaku rwa njora kana ũta? Mahe irio na maaĩ, marĩe na manyue, macooke mathiĩ kũrĩ mwathi wao.”
23 And he prepareth for them great provision, and they eat and drink, and he sendeth them away, and they go unto their lord: and troops of Aram have not added any more to come in to the land of Israel.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio akĩmathondekera iruga inene, nao maarĩkia kũrĩa na kũnyua, akĩmoigĩra ũhoro nao magĩcooka kũrĩ mwathi wao. Nĩ ũndũ ũcio mbũtũ cia ita cia Suriata igĩtiga gũtharĩkĩra bũrũri wa Isiraeli rĩngĩ.
24 And it cometh to pass afterwards, that Ben-Hadad king of Aram gathereth all his camp, and goeth up, and layeth siege to Samaria,
Na rĩrĩ, thuutha ũcio Beni-Hadadi mũthamaki wa Suriata agĩcookanĩrĩria mbũtũ ciake cia ita ciothe, igĩthiĩ, ikĩrigiicĩria Samaria irĩtunyane.
25 and there is a great famine in Samaria, and lo, they are laying siege to it, till the head of an ass is at eighty silverlings, and a forth of the cab of dovesdung at five silverlings.
Na gũkĩgĩa na ngʼaragu nene mũno itũũra rĩu inene. Kũrigiicĩrio kwarĩo gũgĩikara ihinda iraaya ũũ atĩ mũtwe wa ndigiri wendagio cekeri mĩrongo ĩnana cia betha, nakĩo kĩbaba kĩmwe kĩa mai ma ndutura gĩkeendio cekeri ithano.
26 And it cometh to pass, the king of Israel is passing by on the wall, and a woman hath cried unto him, saying, 'Save, my lord, O king.'
Na rĩrĩa mũthamaki wa Isiraeli aahĩtũkagĩra rũthingo igũrũ-rĩ, mũtumia ũmwe akĩmũkaĩra, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mũthamaki, mwathi wakwa, ndeithia!”
27 And he saith, 'Jehovah doth not save thee — whence do I save thee? out of the threshing-floor, or out of the wine-vat?'
Nake mũthamaki akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Angĩkorwo Jehova ndangĩgũteithia-rĩ, niĩ ingĩkũrutĩra ũteithio kũ? Nĩ kuuma kĩhuhĩro-inĩ kĩa ngano, kana nĩ kuuma kĩhihĩro-inĩ kĩa ndibei?”
28 And the king saith to her, 'What — to thee?' and she saith, 'This woman said unto me, Give thy son, and we eat him to-day, and my son we eat to-morrow;
Ningĩ agĩcooka akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kĩĩ kĩragũthĩĩnia?” Nake agĩcookia atĩrĩ, “Mũtumia ũyũ aranjĩĩrire atĩrĩ, ‘Ruta mũrũguo nĩgeetha tũmũrĩe ũmũthĩ, naruo rũciũ tũkaarĩa mũriũ wakwa.’
29 and we boil my son and eat him, and I say unto her on the next day, Give thy son, and we eat him; and she hideth her son.'
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio tũraruga mũriũ wakwa na tũramũrĩa. Mũthenya ũyũ ũngĩ ndĩramwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Ruta mũrũguo nĩgeetha tũmũrĩe,’ no aramũhitha.”
30 And it cometh to pass, at the king's hearing the words of the woman, that he rendeth his garments, and he is passing by on the wall, and the people see, and lo, the sackcloth [is] on his flesh within.
Na rĩrĩa mũthamaki aaiguire ciugo cia mũtumia ũcio-rĩ, agĩtembũranga nguo ciake. O agĩthiiagĩra rũthingo igũrũ-rĩ, andũ magĩcũthĩrĩria, makĩona atĩ eehumbĩte nguo ya ikũnia thĩinĩ.
31 And he saith, 'Thus doth God do to me, and thus He doth add — if it remain — the head of Elisha son of Shaphat — upon him this day.'
Nake akiuga atĩrĩ, “Ngai aronjĩka ũũru, na akĩrĩrĩrie kũnjĩka ũũru, angĩkorwo mũtwe wa Elisha mũrũ wa Shafatu nĩũgũkorwo ũnyiitaine na mwĩrĩ wake ũmũthĩ!”
32 And Elisha is sitting in his house, and the elders are sitting with him, and [the king] sendeth a man from before him; before the messenger doth come unto him, even he himself said unto the elders, 'Have ye seen that this son of the murderer hath sent to turn aside my head? see, at the coming in of the messenger, shut the door, and ye have held him fast at the door, is not the sound of the feet of his lord behind him?'
Na rĩrĩ, Elisha aikarĩte gwake nyũmba arĩ hamwe na athuuri. Nake mũthamaki agĩtũma mũndũ athiiage mbere yake, no mũndũ ũcio ataanakinya, Elisha akĩĩra athuuri acio atĩrĩ, “Hĩ! Ĩĩ nĩmũrona ũrĩa mũũragani ũyũ andũmĩire mũndũ oke andinie mũtwe? Atĩrĩrĩ, mũndũ ũcio ooka-rĩ, mũhinge mũrango, na mũũnyiitĩrĩre ndakaingĩre. Githĩ mũkubio wa magũrũ ma mwathi wake ndũrĩ o thuutha wake?”
33 He is yet speaking with them, and lo, the messenger is coming down unto him, and he saith, 'Lo, this [is] the evil from Jehovah: what — do I wait for Jehovah any more?'
O akĩaria nao-rĩ, mũndũ ũcio watũmĩtwo agĩikũrũka, agĩkinya harĩ we. Nake mũthamaki akiuga atĩrĩ, “Mwanangĩko ũyũ uumĩte kũrĩ Jehova. Nĩ kĩĩ kĩngĩtũma njeterere Jehova makĩria ma ũguo?”
