2 Kings 17
1 In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah reigned hath Hoshea son of Elah in Samaria, over Israel — nine years,
यहूदिया के राजा आहाज़ के शासन के बारहवें साल में एलाह का पुत्र होशिया शमरिया में राजा बना. उसका शासन नौ साल का था.
2 and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, only, not as the kings of Israel who were before him;
उसने वह किया, जो याहवेह की दृष्टि में गलत था, मगर उस सीमा तक नहीं, जैसा इस्राएल में उसके पहले के राजाओं ने किया था.
3 against him came up Shalmaneser king of Asshur, and Hoshea is to him a servant, and doth render to him a present.
अश्शूर के राजा शालमानेसर ने उस पर हमला कर दिया. होशिया को उसके अधीन, जागीरदार होकर उसे कर देना पड़ता था.
4 And the king of Asshur findeth in Hoshea a conspiracy, in that he hath sent messengers unto So king of Egypt, and hath not caused a present to go up to the king of Asshur, as year by year, and the king of Asshur restraineth him, and bindeth him in a house of restraint.
मगर अश्शूर के राजा को होशिया के एक षड़्यंत्र के विषय में मालूम हो गया. होशिया ने मिस्र देश के राजा सोअ से संपर्क के लिए अपने दूत भेजे थे, और उसने अपने ठहराए गए कर का भुगतान भी नहीं किया था, जैसा वह हर साल किया करता था. तब अश्शूर के राजा ने उसे बंदी बनाकर बंदीगृह में डाल दिया.
5 And the king of Asshur goeth up into all the land, and he goeth up to Samaria, and layeth siege against it three years;
इसके बाद उसने सारी इस्राएल देश पर कब्जा किया, और तीन साल तक शमरिया नगर को अपनी अधीनता में रखा.
6 in the ninth year of Hoshea hath the king of Asshur captured Samaria, and removeth Israel to Asshur, and causeth them to dwell in Halah, and in Habor, [by] the river Gozan, and [in] the cities of the Medes.
होशिया के शासन के नवें साल में अश्शूर के राजा ने शमरिया को अपने अधिकार में ले लिया. उसने इस्राएल जनता को बंदी बनाकर अश्शूर ले जाकर वहां हालाह और हाबोर क्षेत्र में बसा दिया. ये दोनों क्षेत्र मेदिया प्रदेश के गोज़ान नदी के तट पर स्थित हैं.
7 And it cometh to pass, because the sons of Israel have sinned against Jehovah their God — who bringeth them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt — and fear other gods,
यह सब इसलिये हुआ कि इस्राएल वंशजों ने याहवेह, अपने परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध पाप किया; उस परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध, जिन्होंने उन्हें मिस्र के राजा फ़रोह की बंधुआई से मुक्त कराया था. उनमें पराए देवताओं के लिए भय आ गया था.
8 and walk in the statutes of the nations that Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel, and of the kings of Israel that they made;
वे उन राष्ट्रों की प्रथाओं का पालन करने लगे थे, जिन जनताओं को याहवेह ने इस्राएल वंश के सामने से अलग कर दिया था. इसके अलावा वे इस्राएल के राजाओं द्वारा प्रचलित प्रथाओं का पालन करने लगे थे.
9 and the sons of Israel do covertly things that [are] not right against Jehovah their God, and build for them high places in all their cities, from a tower of the watchers unto the fenced city,
इस्राएल के लोग याहवेह, उनके परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध गुप्त रूप से वह सब करते रहे, जो गलत था. उन्होंने अपने सारे नगरों में पहरेदारों के खंभों से लेकर गढ़नगर तक पूजा की जगहों को बनवाया.
10 and set up for them standing-pillars and shrines on every high height, and under every green tree,
उन्होंने हर एक ऊंची पहाड़ी पर और हर एक हरे पेड़ के नीचे अशेराह के खंभे खड़े किए.
11 and make perfume there in all high places, like the nations that Jehovah removed from their presence, and do evil things to provoke Jehovah,
वे सारे पूजा स्थलों पर धूप जलाते थे, उन्हीं जनताओं के समान, जिन्हें याहवेह ने उनके सामने से हटाकर अलग किया था. इस्राएली प्रजा दुष्टता से भरे कामों में लगी रही, जिससे याहवेह का गुस्सा भड़क उठता था.
12 and serve the idols, of which Jehovah said to them, 'Ye do not do this thing;'
वे मूर्तियों की सेवा-उपासना करते रहे, जिनके विषय में याहवेह ने उन्हें चेताया था, “तुम यह न करना.”
13 And Jehovah testifieth against Israel, and against Judah, by the hand of every prophet, and every seer, saying, 'Turn back from your evil ways, and keep My commands, My statutes, according to all the law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent unto you by the hand of My servants the prophets;'
फिर भी याहवेह इस्राएल और यहूदिया को हर एक भविष्यद्वक्ता और दर्शी के द्वारा इस प्रकार चेतावनी देते रहेः “व्यवस्था के अनुसार अपनी बुराइयों से फिरकर मेरे आदेशों और नियमों का पालन करो, जिनका आदेश मैंने तुम्हारे पूर्वजों को दिया था, और जिन्हें मैंने भविष्यवक्ताओं, मेरे सेवकों के माध्यम से तुम तक पहुंचाया.”
14 and they have not hearkened, and harden their neck, like the neck of their fathers, who did not remain stedfast in Jehovah their God,
मगर उन्होंने इसकी अवहेलना की, और अपने हृदय कठोर कर लिए; जैसा उनके पूर्वजों ने किया था, जिनकी याहवेह, उनके परमेश्वर में कोई श्रद्धा न थी.
15 and reject His statutes and His covenant that He made with their fathers, and His testimonies that He testified against them, and go after the vain thing, and become vain, and after the nations that are round about them, of whom Jehovah commanded them not to do like them;
उन्होंने याहवेह के नियमों का तिरस्कार किया और उस वाचा को तुच्छ माना, जो याहवेह ने उनके पूर्वजों के साथ स्थापित की थी. उन्होंने उन चेतावनियों पर ध्यान न दिया, जिनके द्वारा याहवेह ने उन्हें सचेत करना चाहा था. वे बेकार के कामों का अनुसरण करते-करते खुद भी बेकार बन गए, और अपने पड़ोसी राष्ट्रों के समान हो गए. इन्हीं राष्ट्रों के बारे में याहवेह ने उन्हें साफ़ आदेश दिया था: “उनका अनुसरण नहीं करना.”
16 And they forsake all the commands of Jehovah their God, and make to them a molten image — two calves, and make a shrine, and bow themselves to all the host of the heavens, and serve Baal,
उन्होंने याहवेह, अपने परमेश्वर के सभी आदेशों को त्याग दिया, और उन्होंने अपने लिए बछड़ों की धातु की मूर्तियां, हां, दो बछड़ों की मूर्तियां ढाल लीं. उन्होंने अशेराह को बनाया और आकाश की सारी शक्तियों और बाल देवता की उपासना की.
17 and cause their sons and their daughters to pass over through fire, and divine divinations, and use enchantments, and sell themselves to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, to provoke Him;
इसके बाद उन्होंने अपनी संतान को आग के बीच से होकर निकलने की प्रथा पूरी करने के लिए मजबूर किया. वे भावी कहते थे और जादू-टोना भी करते थे. उन्होंने स्वयं को वह सब करने के लिए समर्पित कर दिया, जो याहवेह की दृष्टि में गलत है. इससे उन्होंने याहवेह के क्रोध को भड़का दिया.
18 That Jehovah sheweth himself very angry against Israel, and turneth them aside from His presence; none hath been left, only the tribe of Judah by itself.
फलस्वरूप याहवेह इस्राएल पर बहुत ही क्रोधित हो गए, और उन्होंने इस्राएल को अपनी नज़रों से दूर कर दिया; सिवाय यहूदाह गोत्र के.
19 Also Judah hath not kept the commands of Jehovah their God, and they walk in the statutes of Israel that they had made.
यहूदिया ने भी याहवेह, अपने परमेश्वर के आदेशों का पालन नहीं किया. उसने उन्हीं प्रथाओं का अनुसरण किया, जिनको इस्राएल द्वारा शुरू किया गया था.
20 And Jehovah kicketh against all the seed of Israel, and afflicteth them, and giveth them into the hand of spoilers, till that He hath cast them out of His presence,
याहवेह ने इस्राएल के सारे वंशजों को त्याग दिया, उन्हें सताया, उन्हें लुटेरों को सौंप दिया, और अपनी दृष्टि से दूर कर दिया.
21 for He hath rent Israel from the house of David, and they make Jeroboam son of Nebat king, and Jeroboam driveth Israel from after Jehovah, and hath caused them to sin a great sin,
जब याहवेह इस्राएल को दावीद के वंश से अलग कर चुके, इस्राएलियों ने नेबाथ के पुत्र यरोबोअम को राजा बनाकर प्रतिष्ठित किया. यरोबोअम ने इस्राएल से याहवेह का अनुसरण खत्म करवा दिया, और इस्राएल को अधम पाप के लिए उकसाया.
22 and the sons of Israel walk in all the sins of Jeroboam that he did, they have not turned aside therefrom,
इस्राएली प्रजा ने वे सारे पाप किए, जो यरोबोअम ने स्वयं किए थे. इन पापों से वे कभी दूर न हुए.
23 till that Jehovah hath turned Israel aside from His presence, as He spake by the hand of all His servants the prophets, and Israel is removed from off its land to Asshur, unto this day.
तब याहवेह ने उन्हें अपनी दृष्टि से दूर कर दिया, जैसा उन्होंने भविष्यवक्ताओं, अपने सेवकों, के द्वारा पहले ही घोषित कर दिया था. तब इस्राएल वंशज अपने देश से अश्शूर को बंधुआई में भेज दिए गए, वे अब तक बंधुआई में ही हैं.
24 And the king of Asshur bringeth in from Babylon and from Cutha, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and Sepharvaim, and causeth [them] to dwell in the cities of Samaria instead of the sons of Israel, and they possess Samaria, and dwell in its cities;
अश्शूर के राजा ने बाबेल, कूथाह, अव्वा, हामाथ और सेफरवाइम से लोगों को लाकर शमरिया के नगरों में बसा दिया, जहां इसके पहले इस्राएल का रहना था. उन्होंने शमरिया को अपने अधिकार में ले लिया, और उसके नगरों में रहने लगे.
25 and it cometh to pass, at the commencement of their dwelling there, they have not feared Jehovah, and Jehovah doth send among them the lions, and they are destroying among them.
उनके वहां रहने के शुरुआती सालों में उनके मन में याहवेह के प्रति भय था ही नहीं. तब याहवेह ने उनके बीच शेर भेज दिए, जिन्होंने उनमें से कुछ को अपना कौर बना लिया.
26 And they speak to the king of Asshur, saying, 'The nations that thou hast removed, and dost place in the cities of Samaria, have not known the custom of the God of the land, and He sendeth among them the lions, and lo, they are destroying them, as they do not know the custom of the God of the land.'
इसके बारे में अश्शूर के राजा को सूचित किया गया: “जिन राष्ट्रों को आपने ले जाकर शमरिया के नगरों में बसाया है, उन्हें इस देश के देवता की विधि पता नहीं है, इसलिये उसने उनके बीच शेर भेज दिए हैं. अब देखिए वे प्रजा को मार रहे हैं, क्योंकि प्रजा को इस देश के देवता का पता नहीं है.”
27 And the king of Asshur commandeth, saying, 'Cause to go thither one of the priests whom ye removed thence, and they go and dwell there, and he doth teach them the custom of the God of the land.'
यह सुन अश्शूर के राजा ने यह आदेश दिया, “जिन पुरोहितों को बंधुआई में लाया गया है, उनमें से एक पुरोहित को वहां भेज दिया जाए, कि वह वहां जाकर वहीं रहा करे, और वहां बसे इन लोगों को उस देश के देवता की व्यवस्था की शिक्षा दे.”
28 And one of the priests whom they removed from Samaria cometh in, and dwelleth in Beth-El, and he is teaching them how they do fear Jehovah,
तब शमरिया से निकले पुरोहितों में से एक पुरोहित बेथेल नगर में आकर निवास करने लगा, जो उन्हें याहवेह के प्रति भय रखने के विषय में शिक्षा देता था.
29 and they are making each nation its gods, and place [them] in the houses of the high places that the Samaritans have made, each nation in their cities where they are dwelling.
मगर हर एक राष्ट्र अपने-अपने देवताओं की मूर्तियां बनाता रहा, और उन्हें अपने-अपने नगरों के पूजा स्थलों में प्रतिष्ठित करता रहा; उन पूजा स्थलों पर, जो शमरिया के मूलवासियों द्वारा बनाए गए थे. यह वे उन सभी नगरों में करते गए, जहां वे बसते जा रहे थे.
30 And the men of Babylon have made Succoth-Benoth, and the men of Cuth have made Nergal, and the men of Hamath have made Ashima,
जो लोग बाबेल से आए थे उन्होंने सुक्कोथ-बेनोथ की मूर्ति, कूथ से आए लोगों ने नेरगल की, हामाथ से बसे हुए विदेशियों ने आषिमा की,
31 and the Avites have made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites are burning their sons with fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, gods of Sepharvim.
अब्बी प्रवासियों ने निभाज़ और तारतक की; इसके अलावा सेफारवी प्रवासियों ने अपने बालकों को अद्राम्मेलेख और अन्नाम्मेलेख के लिए आग में बलि करने सेफरवाइम देवता की प्रथा चालू रखी.
32 And they are fearing Jehovah, and make to themselves from their extremities priests of high places, and they are acting for them in the house of the high places.
हां, उन्होंने भय के कारण याहवेह के लिए सभी प्रकार के लोगों में से पुरोहित भी चुन लिए. ये पुरोहित उनके लिए पूजा की जगहों पर बलि चढ़ाया करते थे.
33 Jehovah they are fearing, and their gods they are serving, according to the custom of the nations whence they removed them.
संक्षेप में, वे याहवेह के प्रति भय रखते हुए भी अपने-अपने राष्ट्र के उन देवताओं की उपासना करते रहे, जिन राष्ट्रों से लाकर वे यहां बसाए गए थे.
34 Unto this day they are doing according to the former customs — they are not fearing Jehovah, and are not doing according to their statutes, and according to their ordinances, and according to the law, and according to the command, that Jehovah commanded the sons of Jacob whose name He made Israel,
आज तक वे अपनी-अपनी पहले की प्रथाओं में लगे हैं. वे न तो याहवेह के प्रति भय दिखाते हैं, न ही वे याहवेह द्वारा दी गई विधियों या आदेशों या नियमों या व्यवस्था का पालन करते हैं, जिनके पालन करने का आदेश याहवेह द्वारा याकोब के वंशों को दिया गया था, जिन्हें वह इस्राएल नाम से बुलाते थे,
35 and Jehovah maketh with them a covenant, and chargeth them, saying, 'Ye do not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them,
जिनके साथ याहवेह ने वाचा स्थापित की थी, और उन्हें यह आदेश दिया था: “पराए देवताओं से डरने की कोई ज़रूरत नहीं है और न ही आवश्यकता है उनके सामने झुकने की, न उन्हें बलि चढ़ाने की, और न उनकी सेवा-उपासना करने की.
36 but Jehovah who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a stretched-out arm, Him ye do fear, and to Him ye bow yourselves, and to Him ye do sacrifice;
हां, भय उस याहवेह के लिए रखो, जिन्होंने मिस्र देश से तुम्हें अद्धुत सामर्थ्य और बढ़ाई हुई भुजा से तुमको निकालकर यहां ले आए हैं. भय उन्हीं के प्रति बनाए रखो, वंदना के लिए उन्हीं के सामने झुको, और बलि उन्हें ही चढ़ाओ.
37 and the statutes, and the judgments, and the law, and the command, that He wrote for you, ye observe to do all the days, and ye do not fear other gods;
इसके अलावा जो विधियां, नियम, व्यवस्था और आदेश उन्होंने तुम्हारे लिए लिखवा दिए हैं, उन्हें तुम हमेशा पालन करते रहो. साथ ही, यह ज़रूरी नहीं कि तुम पराए देवताओं से डरो.
38 and the covenant that I have made with you ye do not forget, and ye do not fear other gods;
तुम उस वाचा को न भूलना जो मैंने तुम्हारे साथ बांधी है और न पराए देवताओं का भय मानना.
39 but Jehovah your God ye do fear, and He doth deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies;'
तुम सिर्फ याहवेह अपने परमेश्वर का भय मानना. याहवेह ही तुम्हें तुम्हारे सारी शत्रुओं से छुटकारा दिलाएंगे.”
40 and they have not hearkened, but according to their former custom they are doing,
इतना सब होने पर भी उन्होंने याहवेह की बातों पर ध्यान न दिया, वे अपने पहले के आचरण पर ही चलते रहे.
41 and these nations are fearing Jehovah, and their graven images they have served, both their sons and their sons' sons; as their fathers did, they are doing unto this day.
इन जातियों ने याहवेह का भय तो माना, मगर साथ ही वे अपनी गढ़ी हुई मूर्तियों की उपासना भी करते रहे. उनकी संतान भी यही करती रही. और उनके बाद उनकी संतान भी, जैसा जैसा उन्होंने अपने पिता को करते देखा, उन्होंने आज तक उसी के जैसा किया.
