2 Chronicles 4
1 And he maketh an altar of brass, twenty cubits its length, and twenty cubits its breadth, and ten cubits its height.
Il fit un autel de cuivre; vingt coudées furent sa longueur, vingt coudées sa largeur, et dix coudées sa hauteur.
2 And he maketh the molten sea; ten by the cubit, from its edge unto its edge, round in compass, and five by the cubit its height, and a line of thirty by the cubit doth compass it, round about.
Puis, il jeta en fonte la Mer. Parfaitement circulaire, elle avait dix coudées d’un bord à l’autre, et cinq coudées de hauteur; une ligne de trente coudées en mesurait le tour.
3 And the likeness of oxen [is] under it, all round about encompassing it, ten in the cubit, compassing the sea round about; two rows of oxen are cast in its being cast.
Des images de coloquintes étaient disposées au-dessous du rebord, tout autour; au nombre de dix par coudées, elles couvraient la circonférence de la Mer; ces coloquintes, formant deux rangées, avaient été fondues du même jet que la Mer.
4 It is standing on twelve oxen, three facing the north, and three facing the west, and three facing the south, and three facing the east, and the sea [is] upon them above, and all their hinder parts [are] within.
Elle était supportée par douze bœufs, dont trois regardaient le nord, trois le couchant, trois le midi, et trois le levant; la Mer reposait sur eux, et leurs croupes à tous étaient tournées vers l’intérieur.
5 And its thickness [is] a handbreadth, and its lip as the work of the lip of a cup flowered with lilies; taking hold — baths three thousand it containeth.
Elle avait un palme d’épaisseur, et son rebord était travaillé en forme de calices de fleurs de lis. Sa capacité en bath était de trois mille.
6 And he maketh ten lavers, and putteth five on the right, and five on the left, to wash with them; the work of the burnt-offering they purge with them; and the sea [is] for priests to wash with.
Il fit des bassins au nombre de dix, dont il plaça cinq à droite et cinq à gauche, pour y faire des ablutions; on devait y laver l’attirail des holocaustes. La Mer était destinée aux ablutions des prêtres.
7 And he maketh the ten candlesticks of gold, according to their ordinance, and placeth in the temple, five on the right, and five on the left.
Il fit les dix chandeliers d’or, selon les formes prescrites, et il les plaça dans le sanctuaire, cinq à droite et cinq à gauche.
8 And he maketh ten tables, and placeth in the temple, five on the right, and five on the left; and he maketh bowls of gold a hundred.
Il fit dix tables, qu’il disposa dans le sanctuaire, cinq à droite et cinq à gauche; il fit aussi cent bassins d’aspersion en or.
9 And he maketh the court of the priests, and the great court, and doors for the court, and their doors he hath overlaid with brass.
Il fit la cour des prêtres et le grand parvis, ainsi que des portes pour le parvis; ces portes, il les recouvrit de cuivre.
10 And the sea he hath placed on the right shoulder eastward, over-against the south.
Il plaça la Mer sur le côté droit, vers le sud-est.
11 And Huram maketh the pots, and the shovels, and the bowls, and Huram finisheth to make the work that he made for king Solomon in the house of God;
Houram fabriqua les cendriers, les pelles, les bassins d’aspersion, et termina tous les travaux qu’il avait entrepris pour le roi Salomon concernant le temple de Dieu;
12 two pillars, and the bowls, and the crowns on the heads of the two pillars, and the two wreaths to cover the two bowls of the crowns that [are] on the heads of the pillars;
les deux colonnes, avec les deux chapiteaux arrondis qui les surmontaient, et les deux entrelacs pour envelopper chacun de ces chapiteaux arrondis, placés au sommet des colonnes,
13 and the pomegranates four hundred to the two wreaths, two rows of pomegranates to the one wreath, to cover the two bowls of the crowns that [are] on the front of the pillars.
les quatre cents grenades pour ces deux entrelacs, deux rangs de grenades pour chaque entrelacs, qui enveloppaient les deux chapiteaux arrondis des colonnes,
14 And the bases he hath made; and the lavers he hath made on the bases;
les dix supports et les dix bassins qu’ils soutenaient,
15 the one sea, and the twelve oxen under it,
la Mer unique, avec les dix bœufs qui la supportaient,
16 and the pots, and the shovels, and the forks, and all their vessels, hath Huram his father made for king Solomon, for the house of Jehovah, of brass purified.
les cendriers, les pelles, les fourchettes. Tous ces objets, fabriqués par Maître Houram pour le roi Salomon en vue de la maison du Seigneur, étaient en cuivre poli.
17 In the circuit of the Jordan hath the king cast them, in the thick soil of the ground, between Succoth and Zeredathah.
C’Est dans la plaine du Jourdain, entre Souccot et Cerêda, que le roi les fit fondre dans une terre grasse.
18 And Solomon maketh all these vessels in great abundance, that the weight of the brass hath not been searched out.
Salomon fit confectionner tous ces objets en très grande quantité, car le poids du cuivre était illimité.
19 And Solomon maketh all the vessels that [are for] the house of God, and the altar of gold, and the tables, and on them [is] bread of the presence;
Il fit encore confectionner le reste des objets destinés à la maison du Seigneur, l’autel d’or, les tables pour les pains de proposition,
20 and the candlesticks, and their lamps, for their burning according to the ordinance, before the oracle, of gold refined;
les candélabres d’or fin, dont les lampes devaient être allumées, suivant la règle, devant le debir,
21 and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs of gold — it [is] the perfection of gold;
avec leurs fleurons, leurs lampes et leurs mouchettes en or, et de l’or le plus parfait;
22 and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and the censers, of gold refined, and the opening of the house, its innermost doors to the holy of holies, and the doors of the house to the temple, of gold.
les couteaux, les bassins, les cuillers, les encensoirs en or fin. Quant aux portes du temple, les battants de la porte intérieure donnant accès au Saint des Saints, et les battants de l’enceinte du hêkhal étaient en or.
