1 Timothy 6
1 As many as are servants under a yoke, their own masters worthy of all honour let them reckon, that the name of God and the teaching may not be evil spoken of;
Todos os que são escravos deveriam considerar os seus senhores dignos de respeito, para que o nome de Deus e a fé cristã não sejam desacreditados.
2 and those having believing masters, let them not slight [them], because they are brethren, but rather let them serve, because they are stedfast and beloved, who of the benefit are partaking. These things be teaching and exhorting;
Escravos que têm senhores cristãos não devem desrespeitar os seus senhores, pois são irmãos. Pelo contrário, eles devem servi-los até melhor, porque os senhores que são beneficiados pelo serviço deles são irmãos na fé, a quem eles devem amar. Ensine essas orientações e incentive as pessoas a praticá-las.
3 if any one be teaching otherwise, and do not consent to sound words — those of our Lord Jesus Christ — and to the teaching according to piety,
Aqueles que ensinam crenças diferentes e que não escutam o bom conselho, especialmente as palavras do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e os verdadeiros ensinamentos de Deus,
4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and word-striving, out of which doth come envy, strife, evil-speakings, evil-surmisings,
são arrogantes e não compreendem nada. Eles insistem em teorias sem fundamento e debates filosóficos, que apenas levam à inveja, discussões, fofocas maliciosas e suspeitas maldosas.
5 wranglings of men wholly corrupted in mind, and destitute of the truth, supposing the piety to be gain; depart from such;
Essas pessoas discutem constantemente, e as suas mentes totalmente corruptas já perderam a razão, pois elas pensam que podem lucrar financeiramente com a religião.
6 but it is great gain — the piety with contentment;
De fato, a religião é uma grande fonte de lucro, mas só se a pessoa se contenta com o que tem.
7 for nothing did we bring into the world — [it is] manifest that we are able to carry nothing out;
Pois, assim como não trouxemos nada para este mundo, também não levaremos nada daqui.
8 but having food and raiment — with these we shall suffice ourselves;
Mas, se tivermos o que comer e o que vestir, então, fiquemos contentes.
9 and those wishing to be rich, do fall into temptation and a snare, and many desires, foolish and hurtful, that sink men into ruin and destruction,
As pessoas que estão determinadas a se enriquecer caem na armadilha da tentação, seguindo muitos impulsos tolos e prejudiciais.
10 for a root of all the evils is the love of money, which certain longing for did go astray from the faith, and themselves did pierce through with many sorrows;
Porque o desejo de enriquecer leva a muitos tipos de consequências más. E algumas dessas pessoas que amavam tanto a riqueza, afastaram-se da fé e encheram a sua vida de muitas dores.
11 and thou, O man of God, these things flee, and pursue righteousness, piety, faith, love, endurance, meekness;
Mas você, como um homem de Deus, deve evitar, de qualquer maneira, essas tentações. Você deve buscar fazer o que é certo, praticar a verdadeira religião e crer em Deus. Procure amar, ser paciente e gentil.
12 be striving the good strife of the faith, be laying hold on the life age-during, to which also thou wast called, and didst profess the right profession before many witnesses. (aiōnios g166)
Lute a boa luta, pois você crê em Deus. Agarre-se firme à vida eterna, para a qual você foi chamado. Foi isso que você prometeu fazer diante de muitas testemunhas. (aiōnios g166)
13 I charge thee, before God, who is making all things alive, and of Christ Jesus, who did testify before Pontius Pilate the right profession,
Diante de Deus, que dá vida a todas as criaturas, e perante Cristo Jesus, que diante de Pôncio Pilatos deu um belo testemunho de fé, eu ordeno a você que
14 that thou keep the command unspotted, unblameable, till the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
siga com fé tudo o que lhe foi dito. Dessa maneira, não haverá críticas a serem feitas contra você, e continue assim até que o nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo apareça.
15 which in His own times He shall shew — the blessed and only potentate, the King of the kings and Lord of the lords,
No momento certo, Jesus será revelado por Deus, que é o único e abençoado Soberano, o Rei dos reis e o Senhor dos senhores.
16 who only is having immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable, whom no one of men did see, nor is able to see, to whom [is] honour and might age-during! Amen. (aiōnios g166)
Ele é o único imortal e vive na luz, impossível de ser alcançada. Ninguém o viu ou consegue vê-lo. Toda a honra e todo o poder eterno são dele! Amém! (aiōnios g166)
17 Those rich in the present age charge thou not to be high-minded, nor to hope in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, who is giving to us all things richly for enjoyment; — (aiōn g165)
Alerte aqueles que são ricos no mundo atual a não se sentirem orgulhosos por isso. Diga a eles para não colocarem a sua fé na riqueza, que é tão insegura e, sim, em Deus que, sem nada cobrar, deu-nos tudo para a nossa satisfação. (aiōn g165)
18 to do good, to be rich in good works, to be ready to impart, willing to communicate,
Mande-os fazer o bem e para serem ricos em boas ações. Fale para eles compartilharem o que têm e serem generosos.
19 treasuring up to themselves a right foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life age-during.
Assim, eles acumularão tesouros que formarão uma base sólida para o futuro, para que possam receber a verdadeira vida.
20 O Timotheus, the thing entrusted guard thou, avoiding the profane vain-words and opposition of the falsely-named knowledge,
Timóteo, guarde bem o que lhe foi confiado. Não dê atenção a conversas sem sentido e a argumentos baseados no chamado “conhecimento.”
21 which certain professing — concerning the faith did swerve; the grace [is] with you. Amen.
Alguns dos que incentivam essas ideias se afastaram da fé em Deus. Que a graça de Deus esteja com vocês!
