1 Kings 5
1 And Hiram king of Tyre sendeth his servants unto Solomon, for he heard that they had anointed him for king instead of his father, for Hiram was a lover of David all the days;
Hiram, rey de Tiro, oyendo que Salomón había sido hecho rey en lugar de su padre, le envió a sus siervos; porque Hiram había sido amigo de David.
2 and Solomon sendeth unto Hiram, saying,
Entonces Salomón envió una palabra a Hiram, diciendo:
3 'Thou hast known David my father, that he hath not been able to build a house to the name of Jehovah his God, because of the wars that have been round about him, till Jehovah's putting them under the soles of his feet.
Sabes que David mi padre no pudo hacer una casa para el nombre del Señor su Dios, debido a las guerras que lo rodearon por todos lados, hasta que el Señor puso a todos los que estaban contra él bajo sus pies.
4 'And now, Jehovah my God hath given rest to me round about, there is no adversary nor evil occurrence,
Pero ahora el Señor mi Dios me ha dado descanso por todas partes; Nadie está causando problemas, y ningún mal está ocurriendo.
5 and lo, I am saying to build a house to the name of Jehovah my God, as Jehovah spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son whom I appoint in thy stead on thy throne, he doth build the house for My name.
Por lo tanto, es mi propósito hacer un templo para el nombre del Señor mi Dios, como le dijo a David mi padre: Tu hijo, a quien haré rey en tu lugar, será el constructor de un templo en su honor.
6 'And now, command, and they cut down for me cedars out of Lebanon, and my servants are with thy servants, and the hire of thy servants I give to thee according to all that thou sayest, for thou hast known that there is not among us a man acquainted with cutting wood, like the Sidonians.'
Ahora, ¿Ordena que me corten árboles de cedro del Líbano talados para mí, y mis siervos estarán con tus sirvientes; y te daré el pago por tus sirvientes a la tarifa que digas; porque es de conocimiento general que no tenemos tales cortadores de madera entre nosotros como los hombres de Sidón.
7 And it cometh to pass at Hiram's hearing the words of Solomon, that he rejoiceth exceedingly, and saith, 'Blessed [is] Jehovah to-day, who hath given to David a wise son over this numerous people.'
Y estas palabras de Salomón alegraron a Hiram, y él dijo: Ahora, sea bendito el Señor, que ha dado a David un hijo sabio para que sea rey sobre este gran pueblo.
8 And Hiram sendeth unto Solomon, saying, I have heard that which thou hast sent unto me, I do all thy desire concerning cedar-wood, and fir-wood,
Entonces Hiram envió a Salomón este mensaje, diciendo: Me han dado el mensaje que me enviaste, y cumpliré tu pedido de la madera de cedro y la madera de ciprés.
9 my servants bring down from Lebanon to the sea, and I make them floats in the sea unto the place that thou sendest unto me, and I have spread them out there; and thou dost take [them] up, and thou dost execute my desire, to give the food of my house.'
Mis hombres los llevarán desde el Líbano hasta el mar, donde los tendré amarrados para ir por mar a cualquier lugar que tu digas, y los haré cortar allí para que se los lleven; En cuanto al pago, será suficiente si me das comida para mi palacio.
10 And Hiram is giving to Solomon cedar-trees, and fir-trees, all his desire,
Entonces Hiram le dio a Salomón toda la madera de cedro y la madera de ciprés que necesitaba;
11 and Solomon hath given to Hiram twenty thousand cors of wheat, food for his house, and twenty cors of beaten oil; thus doth Solomon give to Hiram year by year.
Y Salomón dio a Hiram veinte mil medidas de grano, como alimento para su pueblo, y veinte medidas de aceite puro; esto lo hizo cada año.
12 And Jehovah hath given wisdom to Solomon as He spake to him, and there is peace between Hiram and Solomon, and they make a covenant both of them.
Y él Señor le había dado sabiduría a Salomón, como le había dicho; y hubo paz entre Hiram y Salomón, e hicieron un acuerdo juntos.
13 And king Solomon lifteth up a tribute out of all Israel, and the tribute is thirty thousand men,
Entonces el rey Salomón impuso trabajo obligatorio, reunió a hombres para el trabajo forzado en todo Israel, treinta mil hombres en total;
14 and he sendeth them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month, by changes, a month they are in Lebanon, two months in their own house; and Adoniram [is] over the tribute.
Y los envió al Líbano en bandas de diez mil cada mes, durante un mes estuvieron trabajando en el Líbano y durante dos meses en su país, y Adoniram los controló.
15 And king Solomon hath seventy thousand bearing burdens, and eighty thousand hewing in the mountain,
Luego tuvo setenta mil para el trabajo de transporte, y ochenta mil canteros en las montañas;
16 apart from the heads of the officers of Solomon, who [are] over the work, three thousand and three hundred, those ruling over the people who are working in the business.
Además de los jefes de los hombres responsables puestos por Salomón para supervisar el trabajo, tres mil y trescientos en autoridad sobre los obreros.
17 And the king commandeth, and they bring great stones, precious stone, to lay the foundation of the house, hewn stones;
Por orden del rey, se cortaron grandes piedras, piedras de alto precio, para que la base de la casa pudiera estar hecha de piedra labrada.
18 and the builders of Solomon, and the builders of Hiram, and the Giblites hew, and prepare the wood and the stones to build the house.
Los constructores de Salomón y los constructores de Hiram hicieron el trabajo de cortarlos, les pusieron bordes, y prepararon la madera y la piedra para la construcción del templo.
