1 Kings 2
1 And draw near do the days of David to die, and he chargeth Solomon his son, saying,
Då det leid til at David skulde døy, gav han Salomo, son sin, fyresegner og sagde:
2 'I am going in the way of all the earth, and thou hast been strong, and become a man,
«Eg gjeng no den vegen som all verdi må fara. Ver so du sterk, og vert ein mann!
3 and kept the charge of Jehovah thy God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commands, and His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, so that thou dost wisely all that thou dost, and whithersoever thou turnest,
Tak vare på alt det som Herren, din Gud, vil du skal taka vare på, so du ferdast på hans vegar og rettar deg etter hans lover og bod og rettar og fyresegner, soleis som det er skrive i Mose lov, so du må fara vist åt i alt det du tek deg fyre, og kvar du vender deg -
4 so that Jehovah doth establish His word which He spake unto me, saying, If thy sons observe their way to walk before Me in truth, with all their heart, and with all their soul; saying, There is not cut off a man of thine from the throne of Israel.
so Herren kann halda den lovnad han gav meg og sagde: «Aldri skal du vanta ein ettermann på Israels kongsstol, » sagde han, «er so sønerne dine agtar på vegen sin, so dei ferdast for mi åsyn i truskap av alt sitt hjarta og heile si sjæl.»
5 'And also, thou hast known that which he did to me — Joab son of Zeruiah — that which he did to two heads of the hosts of Israel, to Abner son of Ner, and to Amasa son of Jether — that he slayeth them, and maketh the blood of war in peace, and putteth the blood of war in his girdle, that [is] on his loins, and in his sandals that [are] on his feet;
Du og veit sjølv kva Joab, son åt Seruja, hev gjort imot meg, korleis han bar seg åt mot dei tvo herførarane i Israel, Abner Nersson og Amasa Jetersson, at han tok livet av deim og rende ut blod i fredstid plent som det hadde vore krig, og bloda ut beltet um livet sitt og skorne på føterne sine.
6 and thou hast done according to thy wisdom, and dost not let his old age go down in peace to Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
Stell deg no difor som du hev visdom til, og lat ikkje dei grå håri hans fara i fred ned i helheimen. (Sheol h7585)
7 'And to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite thou dost do kindness, and they have been among those eating at thy table, for so they drew near unto me in my fleeing from the face of Absalom thy brother.
Men sønerne åt Barzillai frå Gilead skal du gjera vel imot; dei skal vera millom deim som et ved bordet ditt; for soleis møtte dei meg den gongen eg laut røma for Absalom, bror din.
8 'And lo, with thee [is] Shimei son of Gera, the Benjamite of Bahurim, and he reviled me — a grievous reviling — in the day of my going to Mahanaim; and he hath come down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swear to him by Jehovah, saying, I do not put thee to death by the sword;
So hev du hjå deg benjaminiten Sime’i, son åt Gera, frå Bahurim; han lyste ei rysjeleg våbøn yver meg den dagen eg gjekk til Mahanajim; men han kom meg sidan i møte nedmed Jordan, og då svor eg honom til ved Herren at eg ikkje skulde drepa honom med sverd.
9 and now, acquit him not, for a wise man thou [art], and thou hast known that which thou dost to him, and hast brought down his old age with blood to Sheol.' (Sheol h7585)
Men no må du ikkje lata honom vera ustraffa, for du er ein vis mann, og veit korleis du skal fara åt med honom, so du let dei grå håri hans fara blodute ned i helheimen.» (Sheol h7585)
10 And David lieth down with his fathers, and is buried in the city of David,
So Lagde David seg til kvile hjå federne sine; han vart gravlagd i Davidsbyen.
11 and the days that David hath reigned over Israel [are] forty years, in Hebron he hath reigned seven years, and in Jerusalem he hath reigned thirty and three years.
I fyrti år hadde David vore konge yver Israel. I Hebron styrde han i sju år, og i Jerusalem styrde han i tri og tretti år.
12 And Solomon hath sat on the throne of David his father, and his kingdom is established greatly,
Og Salomo sette i kongsstolen åt David, far sin, og kongedømet hans vart ovleg sterkt.
13 and Adonijah son of Haggith cometh in unto Bath-Sheba, mother of Solomon, and she saith, 'Is thy coming peace?' and he saith, 'Peace.'
Men Adonia, son åt Haggit, gjekk inn til Batseba, mor åt Salomo. Ho spurde då: «Kjem du med fred?» Han svara: «Ja, med fred!»
14 And he saith, 'I have a word unto thee,' and she saith, 'Speak.'
So sagde han: «Eg hev ein ting å tala med deg um.» «Ja, tala ut!» svara ho.
15 And he saith, 'Thou hast known that the kingdom was mine, and towards me set their faces had all Israel for reigning, and the kingdom is turned round about, and is my brother's, for from Jehovah it was his;
Då sagde han: «Du veit sjølv at kongedømet høyrde meg til, og at heile Israel vona på meg til konge. Men kongedømet gjekk ifrå meg og til bror min; det vart hans, for di Herren laga det so.
16 and now, one petition I am asking of thee — turn not back my face;' and she saith unto him, 'Speak.'
No hev eg ei einaste bøn til deg - vis meg ikkje burt.» Ho sagde til honom: «Tala ut!»
17 And he saith, 'Speak, I pray thee, to Solomon the king, for he doth not turn back thy face, and he doth give to me Abishag the Shunammite for a wife.'
Då sagde han: «Seg du til kong Salomo - for deg viser han ikkje burt - at han skal gjeva meg Abisag frå Sunem til kona!»
18 And Bath-Sheba saith, 'Good; I do speak for thee unto the king.'
Batseba svara: «Godt, eg skal tala til kongen um deg.»
19 And Bath-Sheba cometh in unto king Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, and the king riseth to meet her, and boweth himself to her, and sitteth on his throne, and placeth a throne for the mother of the king, and she sitteth at his right hand.
So gjekk Batseba inn til kong Salomo og vilde tala med honom um Adonia. Kongen reis upp, gjekk til møtes med henne og bøygde seg for henne, og han sette seg atter i kongsstolen sin. Dei laga til eit sæte for kongsmori, og ho sette seg attmed honom på høgre sida.
20 And she saith, 'One small petition I ask of thee, turn not back my face;' and the king saith to her, 'Ask, my mother, for I do not turn back thy face.'
So sagde ho: «Eg hev ei einaste liti bøn til deg; seg ikkje nei!» Og kongen sagde til henne: «Kom fram med bøni di, mor! Eg skal ikkje visa deg burt.»
21 And she saith, 'Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother for a wife.'
Då sagde ho: «Lat Adonia, bror din, få Abisag frå Sunem til kona!»
22 And king Solomon answereth and saith to his mother, 'And why art thou asking Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? also ask for him the kingdom — for he [is] mine elder brother — even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab son of Zeruiah.'
Men kong Salomo svara og sagde til mor: «Kvi bed du nettupp um Abisag frå Sunem åt Adonia? Bed heller um kongedømet åt honom - for han er då eldste bror min - ja, både åt honom og åt presten Abjatar og åt Joab Serujason.»
23 And king Solomon sweareth by Jehovah, saying, 'Thus doth God to me, and thus He doth add — surely against his soul hath Adonijah spoken this word;
Og kong Salomo svor ved Herren og sagde: «Herren late meg bøta både no og sidan, um ikkje Adonia skal få bøta med livet sitt, for di han hev tala dette!
24 and now, Jehovah liveth, who hath established me, and causeth me to sit on the throne of David my father, and who hath made for me an house as He spake — surely to-day is Adonijah put to death.'
So sant Herren liver, han som hev gjeve meg ein stød sess i kongsstolen åt David, far min, og som etter lovnaden sin hev reist meg eit kongehus, so skal Adonia døy i denne dag!»
25 And king Solomon sendeth by the hand of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he falleth upon him, and he dieth.
Og kong Salomo sende i veg Benaja Jojadason. Han slo honom ned, og han døydde.
26 And to Abiathar the priest said the king, 'To Anathoth go, unto thy fields; for a man of death thou [art], but in this day I do not put thee to death, because thou hast borne the ark of the Lord Jehovah before David my father, and because thou wast afflicted in all that my father was afflicted in.'
Til presten Abjatar sagde kongen: «Gakk til Anatot, til garden din! for du er ein daudedømd mann! men nettupp i dag vil eg ikkje taka livet ditt, etter di du hev bore Herrens, Herrens kista framfyre David, far min, og etter di du hev lide med i alt som far min laut lida.»
27 And Solomon casteth out Abiathar from being priest to Jehovah, to fulfil the word of Jehovah which He spake concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.
So jaga Salomo Abjatar burt og let honom ikkje lenger vera Herrens prest, so det skulde sannast det som Herren hadde sagt um ætti åt Eli i Silo.
28 And the report hath come unto Joab — for Joab hath turned aside after Adonijah, though after Absalom he did not turn aside — and Joab fleeth unto the tent of Jehovah, and layeth hold on the horns of the altar.
Då Joab, som hadde halde lag med Adonia, endå han ikkje hadde gjenge saman med Absalom, frette dette, rømde han inn i Herrens tjeld og fata um altarhorni.
29 And it is declared to king Solomon that Joab hath fled unto the tent of Jehovah, and lo, near the altar; and Solomon sendeth Benaiah son of Jehoiada, saying, 'Go, fall upon him.'
Men då kong Salomo fekk vita at Joab hadde rømt til Herrens tjeld, og at han stod innmed altaret, sende Salomo Benaja Jojadason i veg og sagde: «Gakk av stad og slå honom ned!»
30 And Benaiah cometh in unto the tent of Jehovah, and saith unto him, 'Thus said the king, Come out;' and he saith, 'Nay, but here I die.' And Benaiah bringeth back the king word, saying, 'Thus spake Joab, yea, thus he answered me.'
Då no Benaja kom til Herrens tjeld, sagde han til honom: «So segjer kongen: «Gakk ut!»» Men han svara: «Nei, her vil eg døy.» Og Benaja melde svaret til kongen og sagde: «So hev Joab sagt, og so hev han svara meg.»
31 And the king saith to him, 'Do as he hath spoken, and fall upon him, and thou hast buried him, and turned aside the causeless blood which Joab shed, from off me, and from off the house of my father;
Kongen sagde til honom: «Gjer som han hev sagt, slå honom ned og få honom i jordi, og fria soleis meg og farshuset mitt frå det skuldlause blodet som Joab hev rent ut!
32 and Jehovah hath turned back his blood on his own head, who hath fallen on two men more righteous and better than he, and slayeth them with the sword, — and my father David knew not — Abner son of Ner, head of the host of Israel, and Amasa son of Jether, head of the host of Judah;
Og Herren skal lata blodet hans koma att yver hans eige hovud, av di han hogg ned tvo menner som var rettferdigare og betre enn han sjølv, og drap deim med sverd utan at David, far min, visste det; det var Abner Nersson, Israels herførar, og Amasa Jetersson, Judas herførar.
33 yea, turned back hath their blood on the head of Joab, and on the head of his seed to the age; and for David, and for his seed, and for his house, and for his throne, there is peace unto the age, from Jehovah.'
Ja, blodet deira skal koma att yver hovudet åt Joab og avkjømet hans i all æva. Men David og hans avkjøme og huset og kongsstolen hans skal Herren gjeva fred i all æva.»
34 And Benaiah son of Jehoiada goeth up and falleth upon him, and putteth him to death, and he is buried in his own house in the wilderness,
Benaja Jojadason gjekk so upp og slo honom ned og tok livet av honom, og han vart jorda attmed huset sitt i øydemarki.
35 and the king putteth Benaiah son of Jehoiada in his stead over the host, and Zadok the priest hath the king put in the stead of Abiathar.
Og kongen sette Benaja Jojadason i hans stad yver heren, og sette presten Sadok i romet etter Abjatar.
36 And the king sendeth and calleth for Shimei, and saith to him, 'Build for thee a house in Jerusalem, and thou hast dwelt there, and dost not go out thence any where;
Sidan sende kongen bod og kalla til seg Sime’i, og sagde til honom: «Bygg deg eit hus i Jerusalem, og gjev deg til der! Du skal ikkje ganga ut derifrå til nokon annan stad.
37 and it hath been, in the day of thy going out, and thou hast passed over the brook Kidron, thou dost certainly know that thou dost surely die — thy blood is on thy head.'
For det skal du vita, at den dagen du gjeng yver Kidronsbekken, skal du døy. Då skal blodet ditt koma yver hovudet ditt.»
38 And Shimei saith to the king, 'The word [is] good; as my lord the king hath spoken so doth thy servant do;' and Shimei dwelleth in Jerusalem many days.
Og Sime’i sagde til honom: «Godt; som min herre kongen hev sagt, soleis skal tenaren din gjera.» Og Sime’i budde no i Jerusalem ei tid frametter.
39 And it cometh to pass, at the end of three years, that flee do two of the servants of Shimei unto Achish son of Maachah, king of Gath, and they declare to Shimei, saying, 'Lo, thy servants [are] in Gath;'
So hende det, då tri år var farne, at tvo av trælarne hjå Sime’i rømde til Akis Ma’akason, kongen i Gat. Og då Sime’i frette at trælarne hans var i Gat,
40 and Shimei riseth, and saddleth his ass, and goeth to Gath, unto Achish, to seek his servants, and Shimei goeth and bringeth his servants from Gath.
sala han asnet sitt og for til Gat, til Akis, og vilde leita etter deim; Sime’i tok i veg og fekk trælarne sine med seg heim frå Gat.
41 And it is declared to Solomon that Shimei hath gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and doth return,
Då no Salomo fekk tiend um at Sime’i var faren ut or Jerusalem og til Gat og var komen att,
42 and the king sendeth and calleth for Shimei, and saith unto him, 'Have I not caused thee to swear by Jehovah — and I testify against thee, saying, In the day of thy going out, and thou hast gone anywhere, thou dost certainly know that thou dost surely die; and thou sayest unto me, The word I have heard [is] good?
sende kongen bod og kalla til seg Sime’i, og sagde til honom: «Hev eg ikkje teke ein eid av deg ved Herren og åtvara deg og sagt: «Det skal du vita, at den dagen du gjeng ut og fer nokon stad av, skal du døy?» Og du sagde: «Det er godt; eg hev høyrt det.»
43 and wherefore hast thou not kept the oath of Jehovah, and the charge that I charged upon thee?'
Kvi hev du då ikkje agta på eiden din ved Herren, og den fyresegn eg gav deg?»
44 And the king saith unto Shimei, 'Thou hast known all the evil that thy heart hath known, which thou didst to David my father, and Jehovah hath turned back thine evil on thy head,
Og kongen heldt fram og sagde til Sime’i: «Du veit sjølv alt det vonde du hev gjort David, far min; hjarta ditt kjenner det. Herren skal no lata vondskapen din koma att yver ditt eige hovud.
45 and king Solomon [is] blessed, and the throne of David is established before Jehovah unto the age.'
Men kong Salomo skal verta velsigna, og Davids kongsstol standa fast for Herrens åsyn i all æva.»
46 And the king chargeth Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he goeth out and falleth on him, and he dieth, and the kingdom is established in the hand of Solomon.
Etter bod frå kongen gjekk so Benaja Jojadason ut og hogg honom ned, og han døydde. Og Salomo heldt kongedømet med endå fastare hand.
