1 Kings 19
1 And Ahab declareth to Jezebel all that Elijah did, and all how he slew all the prophets by the sword,
૧એલિયાએ જે કંઈ કર્યું હતું તે અને તેણે કેવી રીતે સઘળા પ્રબોધકોને તલવારથી મારી નાખ્યા હતા, તે પણ આહાબે ઇઝબેલને કહ્યું.
2 and Jezebel sendeth a messenger unto Elijah, saying, 'Thus doth the gods, and thus do they add, surely about this time to-morrow, I make thy life as the life of one of them.'
૨પછી ઇઝબેલે સંદેશવાહક મોકલીને એલિયાને કહેવડાવ્યું કે, “જેમ તેં તે પ્રબોધકોના પ્રાણ લીધા છે તેમ હું પણ તારા પ્રાણ આવતી કાલે રાત્રે આવી જ રીતે આ સમયે લઈશ. જો હું તેમ ના કરું તો દેવ એવું જ અને તેનાથી પણ વધારે કરો.”
3 And he feareth, and riseth, and goeth for his life, and cometh in to Beer-Sheba, that [is] Judah's, and leaveth his young man there,
૩જયારે એલિયાએ તે સાંભળ્યું ત્યારે તે પોતાનો જીવ બચાવવા યહૂદિયામાં આવેલા બેરશેબા નગરમાં નાસી ગયો અને તેણે પોતાના ચાકરને ત્યાં રાખ્યો.
4 and he himself hath gone into the wilderness a day's Journey, and cometh and sitteth under a certain retem-tree, and desireth his soul to die, and saith, 'Enough, now, O Jehovah, take my soul, for I [am] not better than my fathers.'
૪પણ પોતે એક દિવસની મુસાફરી જેટલે દૂર અરણ્યમાં ગયો, ત્યાં તે એક રોતેમ વૃક્ષની નીચે બેઠો અને તે પોતે મૃત્યુ પામે તેવી પ્રાર્થના કરી. તેણે કહ્યું, “હવે બસ થયું, હે યહોવાહ ઈશ્વર, મારો પ્રાણ લઈ લો, હું મારા પિતૃઓથી જરાય સારો નથી.”
5 And he lieth down and sleepeth under a certain retem-tree, and lo, a messenger cometh against him, and saith to him, 'Rise, eat;'
૫પછી તે રોતેમ વૃક્ષ નીચે આડો પડયો અને ઊંઘી ગયો, તે ઊંઘતો હતો, ત્યારે એક દૂતે તેને સ્પર્શ કરીને કહ્યું, “ઊઠ અને ખાઈ લે.”
6 and he looketh attentively, and lo, at his bolster a cake [baken on] burning stones, and a dish of water, and he eateth, and drinketh, and turneth, and lieth down.
૬એલિયાએ જોયું, તો નજીક અંગારા પર શેકેલી રોટલી અને પાણીનો કૂંજો તેના માથા પાસે હતો. તે ખાઈ પીને પાછો સૂઈ ગયો.
7 And the messenger of Jehovah turneth back a second time, and cometh against him, and saith, 'Rise, eat, for the way is too great for thee;'
૭યહોવાહના દૂતે બીજી વાર આવીને તેને સ્પર્શ કરીને કહ્યું, “ઊઠ અને ખાઈ લે, તારે લાંબી મુસાફરી કરવાની છે.”
8 and he riseth, and eateth, and drinketh, and goeth in the power of that food forty days and forty nights, unto the mount of God — Horeb.
૮તેથી તેણે ઊઠીને ખાધું. પાણી પીધું અને તે ખોરાકથી મળેલી શક્તિથી તે ચાળીસ દિવસ અને ચાળીસ રાત મુસાફરી કરીને યહોવાહના પર્વત હોરેબ સુધી પહોંચ્યો.
9 And he cometh in there, unto the cave, and lodgeth there, and lo, the word of Jehovah [is] unto him, and saith to him, 'What — to thee, here, Elijah?'
૯તેણે એક ગુફામાં જઈને ત્યાં ઉતારો કર્યો. પછી યહોવાહનું એવું વચન તેની પાસે આવ્યું કે, “એલિયા, તું અહીં શું કરી રહ્યો છે?”
10 And he saith, 'I have been very zealous for Jehovah, God of Hosts, for the sons of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant — Thine altars they have thrown down, and Thy prophets they have slain by the sword, and I am left, I, by myself, and they seek my life — to take it.'
૧૦એલિયાએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “સૈન્યોના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહને સારુ હું ઘણો ઝનૂની છું, કેમ કે ઇઝરાયલના લોકોએ તમારા કરારનો ત્યાગ કર્યો છે. તમારી વેદીઓને તોડી નાખી છે અને તમારા પ્રબોધકોને તલવારથી મારી નાખ્યા છે. અને હવે હું એકલો જ બચી ગયો છું. તેઓ મારો પણ જીવ લેવા મને શોધે છે.”
11 And He saith, 'Go out, and thou hast stood in the mount before Jehovah.' And lo, Jehovah is passing by, and a wind — great and strong — is rending mountains, and shivering rocks before Jehovah: — not in the wind [is] Jehovah; and after the wind a shaking: — not in the shaking [is] Jehovah;
૧૧યહોવાહે જવાબ આપ્યો, “બહાર જા અને પર્વત પર યહોવાહની ઉપસ્થિતિમાં ઊભો રહે.” પછી યહોવાહ ત્યાંથી પસાર થઈ રહ્યા હતા. પ્રચંડ પવન પર્વતોને ધ્રુજાવતો અને યહોવાહની સંમુખ ખડકોના ટુકડેટુકડાં કરતો હતો. પરંતુ યહોવાહ તે પવનમાં નહોતા. પવન પછી ભૂકંપ થયો, પરંતુ યહોવાહ એ ભૂકંપમાં પણ નહોતા.
12 and after the shaking a fire: — not in the fire [is] Jehovah; and after the fire a voice still small;
૧૨ભૂકંપ પછી અગ્નિ પ્રગટ્યો. પણ યહોવાહ એ અગ્નિમાં પણ નહોતા, અગ્નિ પછી ત્યાં એક ઝીણો અવાજ સંભળાવ્યો.
13 and it cometh to pass, at Elijah's hearing [it], that he wrappeth his face in his robe, and goeth out, and standeth at the opening of the cave, and lo, unto him [is] a voice, and it saith, 'What — to thee, here, Elijah?'
૧૩જ્યારે એલિયાએ આ અવાજ સાંભળ્યો ત્યારે પોતાના ઝભ્ભાથી તેણે પોતાનું મુખ ઢાંકી દીધું અને બહાર નીકળીને તે ગુફાના બારણા આગળ ઊભો રહ્યો. પછી ત્યાં તેને ફરીથી અવાજ સંભળાયો, “એલિયા, તું અહીં શું કરે છે?”
14 And he saith, 'I have been very zealous for Jehovah, God of Hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant, Thine altars they have thrown down, and Thy prophets they have slain by the sword, and I am left, I, by myself, and they seek my life — to take it.'
૧૪તેણે ફરીથી જવાબ આપ્યો, “સૈન્યોના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહને સારુ હું ઘણો ઝનૂની છું. કેમ કે ઇઝરાયલના લોકોએ તમારા કરારનો ત્યાગ કર્યો છે. તમારી વેદીઓને તોડી નાખી છે અને તમારા પ્રબોધકોને તલવારથી મારી નાખ્યા છે. અને હવે હું એકલો જ બચી ગયો છું. તેઓ મારો પણ જીવ લેવા મને શોધી રહ્યો છે.”
15 And Jehovah saith unto him, 'Go turn back on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus, and thou hast gone in, and anointed Hazael for king over Aram,
૧૫પછી યહોવાહે તેને કહ્યું, “અરણ્યને માર્ગે થઈને દમસ્કસ પાછો જા અને જયારે તું ત્યાં પહોંચે ત્યારે હઝાએલનો અભિષેક કરીને તેને અરામનો રાજા ઠરાવજે.
16 and Jehu son of Nimshi thou dost anoint for king over Israel, and Elisha son of Shaphat, of Abel-Meholah, thou dost anoint for prophet in thy stead.
૧૬નિમ્શીના દીકરા યેહૂનો અભિષેક કરીને તેને ઇઝરાયલનો રાજા ઠરાવજે. અને આબેલ-મહોલાવાસી શાફાટના દીકરા એલિશાનો અભિષેક કરીને તેને તારી જગ્યાએ પ્રબોધક ઠરાવજે.
17 'And it hath been, him who is escaped from the sword of Hazael, put to death doth Jehu, and him who is escaped from the sword of Jehu put to death doth Elisha;
૧૭અને એમ થશે કે હઝાએલની તલવારથી જે કોઈ બચી જશે તેને યેહૂ મારી નાખશે અને યેહૂની તલવારથી જે કોઈ બચી જશે તેને એલિશા મારી નાખશે.
18 and I have left in Israel seven thousand, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that hath not kissed him.'
૧૮પણ હું મારે માટે ઇઝરાયલમાં એવા સાત હજારને બચાવીશ કે જે સર્વનાં ઘૂંટણ બઆલની આગળ નમ્યાં નથી અને જેઓમાંના કોઈનાં મુખે તેને ચુંબન કર્યું નથી.”
19 And he goeth thence, and findeth Elisha son of Shaphat, and he is plowing; twelve yoke [are] before him, and he [is] with the twelfth; and Elijah passeth over unto him, and casteth his robe upon him,
૧૯તેથી એલિયા ત્યાંથી રવાના થયો અને તેને શાફાટનો દીકરો એલિશા મળ્યો. ત્યારે તે તેને ખેતર ખેડતો હતો. એની આગળ બાર જોડ બળદ હતા અને તે પોતે બારમી જોડની સાથે હતો. એલિયાએ તેની પાસે જઈને પોતાનો ઝભ્ભો તેના પર નાખ્યો.
20 and he forsaketh the oxen, and runneth after Elijah, and saith, 'Let me give a kiss, I pray thee, to my father and to my mother, and I go after thee.' And he saith to him, 'Go, turn back, for what have I done to thee?'
૨૦પછી એલિશા બળદોને મૂકીને એલિયાની પાછળ દોડ્યો અને કહેવા લાગ્યો, “કૃપા કરીને મને મારા માતા પિતાને વિદાયનું ચુંબન કરવા જવા દે, પછી હું તારી પાછળ આવીશ.” પછી એલિયાએ તેને કહ્યું, “સારું, પાછો જા, પણ મેં તારા માટે જે કર્યું છે તેનો વિચાર કરજે.”
21 And he turneth back from after him, and taketh the yoke of oxen, and sacrificeth it, and with instruments of the oxen he hath boiled their flesh, and giveth to the people, and they eat, and he riseth, and goeth after Elijah, and serveth him.
૨૧તેથી એલિશા એલિયાની પાછળ ન જતાં પાછો વળ્યો. તેણે બળદની એક જોડ લઈને તે બે બળદને કાપીને ઝૂંસરીના લાકડાંથી તેઓનું માંસ બાફ્યું. તેનું ભોજન બનાવીને લોકોને પીરસ્યું. અને તેઓએ તે ખાધું. પછી તે ઊઠીને એલિયાની પાછળ ગયો અને તેની સેવા કરી.
