1 Kings 16

1 And a word of Jehovah is unto Jehu son of Hanani, against Baasha, saying,

Et la parole de l’Éternel vint à Jéhu, fils de Hanani, contre Baësha, disant:

2 'Because that I have raised thee up out of the dust, and appoint thee leader over My people Israel, and thou walkest in the way of Jeroboam, and causest My people Israel to sin — to provoke Me to anger with their sins;

Parce que je t’ai élevé de la poussière, et que je t’ai établi prince sur mon peuple Israël, et que tu as marché dans la voie de Jéroboam, et que tu as fait pécher mon peuple Israël, pour qu’ils me provoquent par leurs péchés:

3 lo, I am putting away the posterity of Baasha, even the posterity of his house, and have given up thy house as the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat;

voici, j’ôterai Baësha et sa maison; et je ferai de ta maison comme [j’ai fait] de la maison de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath.

4 him who dieth of Baasha in a city do the dogs eat, and him who dieth of his in a field do fowl of the heavens eat.'

Celui de [la maison de] Baësha qui mourra dans la ville, les chiens le mangeront, et celui de sa [maison] qui mourra dans les champs, les oiseaux des cieux le mangeront.

5 And the rest of the matters of Baasha, and that which he did, and his might, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Et le reste des actes de Baësha, et ce qu’il fit, et sa puissance, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël?

6 And Baasha lieth with his fathers, and is buried in Tirzah, and Elah his son reigneth in his stead.

Et Baësha s’endormit avec ses pères, et il fut enterré à Thirtsa; et Éla, son fils, régna à sa place.

7 And also by the hand of Jehu son of Hanani the prophet a word of Jehovah hath been concerning Baasha, and concerning his house, and concerning all the evil that he did in the eyes of Jehovah to provoke Him to anger with the work of his hands, to be like the house of Jeroboam, and concerning that for which he smote him.

Et par Jéhu, fils de Hanani, le prophète, la parole de l’Éternel vint aussi contre Baësha, et contre sa maison, à cause de tout le mal qu’il faisait devant les yeux de l’Éternel, pour le provoquer à colère par l’œuvre de ses mains, pour qu’il soit comme la maison de Jéroboam, et parce qu’il tua celui-ci.

8 In the twenty and sixth year of Asa king of Judah reigned hath Elah son of Baasha over Israel in Tirzah, two years;

La vingt -sixième année d’Asa, roi de Juda, Éla, fils de Baësha, commença de régner sur Israël à Thirtsa, [et il régna] deux ans.

9 and conspire against him doth his servant Zimri (head of the half of the chariots) and he [is] in Tirzah drinking — a drunkard in the house of Arza, who [is] over the house in Tirzah.

Et son serviteur Zimri, chef de la moitié de ses chars, conspira contre lui. Et il était à Thirtsa, buvant et s’enivrant dans la maison d’Artsa, qui était [préposé] sur sa maison à Thirtsa.

10 And Zimri cometh in and smiteth him, and putteth him to death, in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigneth in his stead;

Et Zimri y alla et le frappa, et le mit à mort la vingt-septième année d’Asa, roi de Juda; et il régna à sa place.

11 and it cometh to pass in his reigning, at his sitting on his throne, he hath smitten the whole house of Baasha; he hath not left to him any sitting on the wall, and of his redeemers, and of his friends.

Et il arriva que, lorsqu’il commença de régner, aussitôt qu’il s’assit sur son trône, il frappa toute la maison de Baësha; il ne lui laissa pas un seul mâle, ni ses parents, ni un ami.

12 And Zimri destroyeth the whole house of Baasha, according to the word of Jehovah, that He spake concerning Baasha, by the hand of Jehu the prophet:

Et Zimri détruisit toute la maison de Baësha, selon la parole de l’Éternel qu’il prononça contre Baësha par Jéhu, le prophète,

13 concerning all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, that they sinned, and that they caused Israel to sin to provoke Jehovah, God of Israel, with their vanities.

à cause de tous les péchés de Baësha et des péchés d’Éla, son fils, qu’ils avaient commis et par lesquels ils avaient fait pécher Israël, pour provoquer à colère l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, par leurs vanités.

14 And the rest of the matters of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Et le reste des actes d’Éla, et tout ce qu’il fit, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël?

15 In the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, reigned hath Zimri seven days in Tirzah; and the people are encamping against Gibbethon, which [is] to the Philistines;

La vingt -septième année d’Asa, roi de Juda, Zimri régna sept jours à Thirtsa. Et le peuple était campé contre Guibbethon, qui était aux Philistins.

16 and the people who are encamping hear, saying, 'Zimri hath conspired, and also hath smitten the king;' and all Israel cause Omri head of the host to reign over Israel on that day in the camp.

Et le peuple qui campait entendit dire: Zimri a conspiré, et il a aussi frappé le roi. Et ce même jour, dans le camp, tout Israël établit Omri, chef de l’armée, roi sur Israël.

17 And Omri goeth up, and all Israel with him, from Gibbethon, and they lay siege to Tirzah.

Et Omri et tout Israël avec lui montèrent de Guibbethon, et mirent le siège devant Thirtsa.

18 And it cometh to pass, at Zimri's seeing that the city hath been captured, that he cometh in unto a high place of the house of the king, and burneth over him the house of the king with fire, and dieth,

Et il arriva que, quand Zimri vit que la ville était prise, il entra dans le palais de la maison du roi, et brûla par le feu la maison du roi sur lui; et il mourut

19 for his sins that he sinned, to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, to walk in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin that he did, to cause Israel to sin;

à cause de ses péchés qu’il avait commis en faisant ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l’Éternel, en marchant dans la voie de Jéroboam et dans son péché qu’il fit pour faire pécher Israël.

20 and the rest of the matters of Zimri, and his conspiracy that he made, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Et le reste des actes de Zimri, et la conspiration qu’il fit, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël?

21 Then are the sons of Israel parted into halves; half of the people hath been after Tibni son of Ginath to cause him to reign, and the half after Omri;

Alors le peuple d’Israël fut divisé par moitiés: la moitié du peuple suivit Thibni, fils de Guinath, pour le faire roi; et la moitié suivit Omri.

22 and stronger are the people that are after Omri than the people that are after Tibni son of Ginath, and Tibni dieth, and Omri reigneth.

Et le peuple qui suivit Omri prévalut sur le peuple qui suivit Thibni, fils de Guinath; et Thibni mourut, et Omri régna.

23 In the thirty and first year of Asa king of Judah reigned hath Omri over Israel twelve years; in Tirzah he hath reigned six years,

La trente et unième année d’Asa, roi de Juda, Omri commença de régner sur Israël, [et il régna] douze ans. Il régna six ans à Thirtsa.

24 and he buyeth the mount Samaria from Shemer, with two talents of silver, and buildeth [on] the mount, and calleth the name of the city that he hath built by the name of Shemer, lord of the hill — Samaria.

Et il acheta de Shémer la montagne de Samarie pour deux talents d’argent; et il bâtit sur la montagne, et appela le nom de la ville qu’il bâtit Samarie, selon le nom de Shémer, propriétaire de la montagne.

25 And Omri doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and doth evil above all who [are] before him,

Et Omri fit ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l’Éternel, et il fit pis que tous ceux qui avaient été avant lui.

26 and walketh in all the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and in his sin that he caused Israel to sin, to provoke Jehovah, God of Israel, with their vanities.

Et il marcha dans toute la voie de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, et dans ses péchés par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël pour provoquer à colère l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, par leurs vanités.

27 And the rest of the matters of Omri that he did, and his might that he got, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Et le reste des actes d’Omri, ce qu’il fit, et sa puissance qu’il montra, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël?

28 And Omri lieth with his fathers, and is buried in Samaria, and Ahab his son reigneth in his stead.

Et Omri s’endormit avec ses pères, et il fut enterré à Samarie; et Achab, son fils, régna à sa place.

29 And Ahab son of Omri hath reigned over Israel in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah, and Ahab son of Omri reigneth over Israel in Samaria twenty and two years,

Et Achab, fils d’Omri, commença de régner sur Israël la trente -huitième année d’Asa, roi de Juda. Et Achab, fils d’Omri, régna sur Israël à Samarie, 22 ans.

30 and Ahab son of Omri doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah above all who [are] before him.

Et Achab, fils d’Omri, fit ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l’Éternel, plus que tous ceux qui avaient été avant lui.

31 And it cometh to pass — hath it been light his walking in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat? — then he taketh a wife, Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Zidonians, and goeth and serveth Baal, and boweth himself to it,

Et il arriva que, comme si c’était peu de chose qu’il marche dans les péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, il prit pour femme Jézabel, fille d’Ethbaal, roi des Sidoniens, et alla et servit Baal, et se prosterna devant lui,

32 and raiseth up an altar for Baal, in the house of the Baal, that he built in Samaria;

et dressa un autel à Baal dans la maison de Baal qu’il bâtit à Samarie.

33 and Ahab maketh the shrine, and Ahab addeth to do so as to provoke Jehovah, God of Israel, above all the kings of Israel who have been before him.

Et Achab fit une ashère; et Achab fit plus que tous les rois d’Israël qui avaient été avant lui, pour provoquer à colère l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël.

34 In his days hath Hiel the Beth-Elite built Jericho; in Abiram his first-born he laid its foundation, and in Segub his youngest he set up its doors, according to the word of Jehovah that He spake by the hand of Joshua son of Nun.

De son temps, Hiel, le Béthélite, bâtit Jéricho; il la fonda sur Abiram, son premier-né, et posa ses portes sur Segub, son plus jeune fils, selon la parole de l’Éternel, qu’il avait dite par Josué, fils de Nun.
