1 Kings 15
1 And in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam son of Nebat, reigned hath Abijam over Judah;
নবাটের ছেলে যারবিয়ামের রাজত্বের অষ্টাদশতম বছরে অবিয় যিহূদার রাজা হলেন,
2 three years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Maachah daughter of Abishalom;
এবং জেরুশালেমে তিনি তিন বছর রাজত্ব করলেন। তাঁর মায়ের নাম মাখা, ও তিনি অবীশালোমের মেয়ে।
3 and he walketh in all the sins of his father, that he did before him, and his heart hath not been perfect with Jehovah his God, as the heart of David his father;
তিনি সেইসব পাপ করলেন, যা তাঁর বাবা তাঁর আগে করে গেলেন; তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষ দাউদের অন্তর যেমন তাঁর ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর প্রতি পুরোপুরি সমর্পিত ছিল, অবিয়র অন্তর কিন্তু সেভাবে তাঁর ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর প্রতি পুরোপুরি সমর্পিত ছিল না।
4 but for David's sake hath Jehovah his God given to him a lamp in Jerusalem, to raise up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem,
তা সত্ত্বেও, দাউদের খাতিরে তাঁর স্থলাভিষিক্ত হওয়ার জন্য এক ছেলে দেওয়ার ও জেরুশালেমকে মজবুত করার মাধ্যমে তাঁর ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু জেরুশালেমে তাঁকে এক প্রদীপ দিলেন।
5 in that David did that which [is] right in the eyes of Jehovah, and turned not aside from all that He commanded him all days of his life — only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite;
একমাত্র হিত্তীয় ঊরিয়র নজিরটি বাদ দিলে—দাউদ সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে যা যা উপযুক্ত, তাই করলেন এবং তাঁর সম্পূর্ণ জীবনকালে সদাপ্রভুর কোনও আদেশ পালন করতে ব্যর্থ হননি।
6 and war hath been between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.
অবিয় ও যারবিয়ামের মধ্যে যে যুদ্ধ শুরু হল, অবিয় যতদিন বেঁচেছিলেন ততদিন তা চলেছিল।
7 And the rest of the matters of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah? And war hath been between Abijam and Jeroboam;
অবিয়র রাজত্বকালের অন্যান্য সব ঘটনা, ও তিনি যা যা করলেন, তার বিবরণ কি যিহূদার রাজাদের ইতিহাস-গ্রন্থে লেখা নেই? অবিয় ও যারবিয়ামের মধ্যে যুদ্ধ লেগেই ছিল।
8 and Abijam lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in the city of David, and reign doth Asa his son in his stead.
অবিয় তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে চিরবিশ্রামে শায়িত হলেন এবং তাঁকে দাউদ-নগরে কবর দেওয়া হল। তাঁর ছেলে আসা রাজারূপে তাঁর স্থলাভিষিক্ত হলেন।
9 And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned hath Asa over Judah,
ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যারবিয়ামের রাজত্বের বিংশতিতম বছরে আসা যিহূদার রাজা হলেন,
10 and forty and one years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Maachah daughter of Abishalom.
এবং জেরুশালেমে তিনি একচল্লিশ বছর রাজত্ব করলেন। তাঁর ঠাকুমার নাম মাখা, তিনি অবীশালোমের মেয়ে ছিলেন।
11 And Asa doth that which [is] right in the eyes of Jehovah, like David his father,
আসা তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষ দাউদের মতো, সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে যা ন্যায্য, তাই করলেন।
12 and removeth the whoremongers out of the land, and turneth aside all the idols that his fathers made;
মন্দির-সংলগ্ন দেবদাসদের তিনি দেশ থেকে তাড়িয়ে দিলেন এবং তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের তৈরি করা প্রতিমার মূর্তিগুলিও দূর করলেন।
13 and also Maachah his mother — he turneth her aside from being mistress, in that she made a horrible thing for a shrine, and Asa cutteth down her horrible thing, and burneth [it] by the brook Kidron;
এমনকি তিনি রাজমাতার পদ থেকে তাঁর ঠাকুমা মাখাকে সরিয়ে দিলেন, কারণ আশেরার পুজো করার জন্য মাখা জঘন্য এক মূর্তি তৈরি করলেন। আসা সেটি কেটে ফেলে দিলেন এবং কিদ্রোণ উপত্যকায় সেটি জ্বালিয়ে দিলেন।
14 and the high places have not turned aside; only, the heart of Asa hath been perfect with Jehovah all his days,
যদিও তিনি পূজার্চনার উঁচু স্থানগুলি উপড়ে ফেলেননি, তবুও আজীবন আসার অন্তর সদাপ্রভুর প্রতি পুরোপুরি সমর্পিতই ছিল।
15 and he bringeth in the sanctified things of his father, and his own sanctified things, to the house of Jehovah, silver, and gold, and vessels.
সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরে তিনি রুপো ও সোনা এবং সেইসব জিনিসপত্র এনে রেখেছিলেন, যেগুলি তিনি ও তাঁর বাবা উৎসর্গ করলেন।
16 And war hath been between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days,
আসা ও ইস্রায়েলের রাজা বাশার মধ্যে তাদের অধিকারভুক্ত এলাকার সর্বত্র যুদ্ধ লেগেই ছিল।
17 and Baasha king of Israel goeth up against Judah, and buildeth Ramah, not to permit any one going out and coming in to Asa king of Judah.
ইস্রায়েলের রাজা বাশা যিহূদার বিরুদ্ধে উঠে গেলেন এবং রামা নগরটি সুরক্ষিত করে সেখানে ঘাঁটি গেড়েছিলেন, যেন যিহূদার রাজা আসার এলাকা থেকে কেউ বেরিয়ে আসতে না পারে বা সেখানে ঢুকতেও না পারে।
18 And Asa taketh all the silver and the gold that are left in the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the house of the king, and giveth them into the hand of his servants, and king Asa sendeth them unto Ben-Hadad, son of Tabrimmon, son of Hezion king of Aram, who is dwelling in Damascus, saying,
আসা তখন সদাপ্রভুর মন্দির থেকে ও তাঁর নিজের প্রাসাদের কোষাগারে পড়ে থাকা সব রুপো ও সোনা নিয়ে তাঁর কর্মকর্তাদের হাতে তুলে দিলেন এবং সেগুলি অরামের রাজা সেই বিন্হদদের কাছে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন, যিনি হিষিয়োণের নাতি ও টব্রিম্মোণের ছেলে ছিলেন, এবং তখন যিনি দামাস্কাসে রাজত্ব করছিলেন।
19 'A covenant [is] between me and thee, between my father and thy father; lo, I have sent to thee a reward of silver and gold; go, break thy covenant with Baasha king of Israel, and he goeth up from off me.'
“আপনার ও আমার মধ্যে এক চুক্তি হোক,” তিনি বললেন, “যেমনটি আমার বাবা ও আপনার বাবার মধ্যে ছিল। দেখুন, আমি আপনার কাছে রুপো ও সোনার কিছু উপহার পাঠাচ্ছি। এখন আপনি ইস্রায়েলের রাজা বাশার সঙ্গে করা আপনার চুক্তিটি ভেঙে ফেলুন, তবেই সে আমার কাছ থেকে পিছিয়ে যাবে।”
20 And Ben-Hadad hearkeneth unto king Asa, and sendeth the heads of the forces that he hath against cities of Israel, and smiteth Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-Beth-Maachah, and all Chinneroth, besides all the land of Naphtali;
বিন্হদদ আসার কথায় রাজি হলেন এবং ইস্রায়েলের নগরগুলির বিরুদ্ধে তাঁর সৈন্যদলের সেনাপতিদের পাঠালেন। নপ্তালি ছাড়াও তিনি ইয়োন, দান, আবেল বেথ-মাখা ও সম্পূর্ণ কিন্নেরৎ দখল করে নিয়েছিলেন।
21 and it cometh to pass at Baasha's hearing, that he ceaseth from building Ramah, and dwelleth in Tirzah.
বাশা যখন একথা শুনতে পেলেন, তিনি রামা নগরটি গড়ে তোলার কাজ বন্ধ করে দিলেন এবং তির্সার দিকে পিছিয়ে গেলেন।
22 And king Asa hath summoned all Judah — there is none exempt — and they lift up the stones of Ramah, and its wood, that Baasha hath built, and king Asa buildeth with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.
তখন রাজা আসা যিহূদার সর্বত্র এক আদেশ জারি করলেন—কেউ এর এক্তিয়ার থেকে অব্যাহতি পায়নি—এবং তারা রামা থেকে সেইসব পাথর ও কাঠ তুলে নিয়ে এসেছিল, যেগুলি বাশা সেখানে ব্যবহার করছিলেন। সেগুলি দিয়েই রাজা আসা বিন্যামীনে গেবা, ও পাশাপাশি মিস্পাও গেঁথে তুলেছিলেন।
23 And the rest of all the matters of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities that he built, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah? Only, at the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet;
আসার রাজত্বকালের অন্যান্য সব ঘটনা, তাঁর সব কীর্তি, তিনি যা যা করলেন ও যেসব নগর তিনি তৈরি করলেন, তার বিবরণ কি যিহূদার রাজাদের ইতিহাস-গ্রন্থে লেখা নেই? বৃদ্ধ বয়সে অবশ্য তাঁর পায়ে রোগ দেখা দিয়েছিল।
24 and Asa lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David his father, and Jehoshaphat his son reigneth in his stead.
পরে আসা তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে চিরবিশ্রামে শায়িত হলেন ও তাঁকে তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষ দাউদের নগরে তাদের কাছেই কবর দেওয়া হল। তাঁর ছেলে যিহোশাফট রাজারূপে তাঁর স্থলাভিষিক্ত হলেন।
25 And Nadab son of Jeroboam hath reigned over Israel, in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigneth over Israel two years,
যিহূদার রাজা আসার রাজত্বের দ্বিতীয় বছরে যারবিয়ামের ছেলে নাদব ইস্রায়েলে রাজা হলেন, এবং ইস্রায়েলে তিনি দুই বছর রাজত্ব করলেন।
26 and doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and goeth in the way of his father, and in his sin that he made Israel to sin.
তাঁর বাবার পথ অনুসরণ করে ও তাঁর বাবা ইস্রায়েলকে দিয়ে যে পাপ করিয়েছিলেন, সেই একই পাপ করে তিনিও সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে যা মন্দ, তাই করলেন।
27 And conspire against him doth Baasha son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, and Baasha smiteth him in Gibbethon, which [is] to the Philistines — and Nadab and all Israel are laying siege against Gibbethon —
ইষাখর-কুলভুক্ত অহিয়র ছেলে বাশা নাদবের বিরুদ্ধে ষড়যন্ত্র করলেন, এবং নাদব ও সমস্ত ইস্রায়েল যখন ফিলিস্তিনী এক নগর গিব্বথোনের চারদিকে অবরোধ গড়ে তুলেছিলেন, তখন সেখানেই বাশা তাঁকে আঘাত করে মেরে ফেলেছিলেন।
28 yea, Baasha putteth him to death in the third year of Asa king of Judah, and reigneth in his stead.
যিহূদার রাজা আসার রাজত্বের তৃতীয় বছরে বাশা নাদবকে হত্যা করলেন ও রাজারূপে তাঁর স্থলাভিষিক্ত হলেন।
29 And it cometh to pass, at his reigning, he hath smitten the whole house of Jeroboam, he hath not left any breathing to Jeroboam till his destroying him, according to the word of Jehovah, that He spake by the hand of His servant Ahijah the Shilonite,
রাজত্ব শুরু করামাত্রই তিনি যারবিয়ামের পরিবারের সবাইকে হত্যা করে ফেলেছিলেন। সদাপ্রভু তাঁর দাস শীলোনীয় অহিয়র মাধ্যমে যে কথা বললেন, সেই কথানুসারে তিনি যারবিয়ামের পরিবারে শ্বাস নেওয়ার জন্যও কাউকে অবশিষ্ট রাখেননি, কিন্তু তাদের সবাইকে মেরে ফেলেছিলেন।
30 because of the sins of Jeroboam that he sinned, and that he caused Israel to sin, by his provocation with which he provoked to anger Jehovah, God of Israel.
যারবিয়াম যেহেতু স্বয়ং পাপ করলেন ও ইস্রায়েলকে দিয়েও পাপ করিয়েছিলেন, এবং যেহেতু ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর ক্রোধ তিনি জাগিয়ে তুলেছিলেন, তাই এরকমটি হল।
31 And the rest of the matters of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
নাদবের রাজত্বকালের অন্যান্য সব ঘটনা, ও তিনি যেসব কাজ করলেন, তার বিবরণ কি ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের ইতিহাস-গ্রন্থে লেখা নেই?
32 And war hath been between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.
আসা ও ইস্রায়েলের রাজা বাশার মধ্যে তাদের অধিকারভুক্ত এলাকার সর্বত্র যুদ্ধ লেগেই ছিল।
33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah reigned hath Baasha son of Ahijah over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years,
যিহূদার রাজা আসার রাজত্বের তৃতীয় বছরে অহিয়র ছেলে বাশা তির্সায় সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলের রাজা হলেন, এবং তিনি চব্বিশ বছর রাজত্ব করলেন।
34 and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and walketh in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin that he caused Israel to sin.
যারবিয়ামের পথ অনুসরণ করে ও যারবিয়াম ইস্রায়েলকে দিয়ে যে পাপ করিয়েছিলেন, সেই একই পাপ করে তিনিও সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে যা মন্দ, তাই করলেন।
