1 Corinthians 10
1 And I do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,
Ahora bien, no quiero que ignoréis, hermanos, que nuestros padres estuvieron todos bajo la nube, y todos pasaron por el mar;
2 and all to Moses were baptized in the cloud, and in the sea;
y todos fueron bautizados en Moisés en la nube y en el mar;
3 and all the same spiritual food did eat,
y todos comieron el mismo alimento espiritual;
4 and all the same spiritual drink did drink, for they were drinking of a spiritual rock following them, and the rock was the Christ;
y todos bebieron la misma bebida espiritual. Porque bebieron de una roca espiritual que los seguía, y la roca era Cristo.
5 but in the most of them God was not well pleased, for they were strewn in the wilderness,
Sin embargo, con la mayoría de ellos, Dios no se complació, pues fueron derribados en el desierto.
6 and those things became types of us, for our not passionately desiring evil things, as also these did desire.
Estos fueron nuestros ejemplos, para que no codiciemos cosas malas como ellos también codiciaron.
7 Neither become ye idolaters, as certain of them, as it hath been written, 'The people sat down to eat and to drink, and stood up to play;'
No seáis idólatras, como lo fueron algunos de ellos. Como está escrito: “El pueblo se sentaba a comer y beber, y se levantaba a jugar”.
8 neither may we commit whoredom, as certain of them did commit whoredom, and there fell in one day twenty-three thousand;
No cometamos inmoralidad sexual, como algunos de ellos, y en un día cayeron veintitrés mil.
9 neither may we tempt the Christ, as also certain of them did tempt, and by the serpents did perish;
No pongamos a prueba a Cristo, como algunos de ellos lo hicieron, y perecieron a causa de las serpientes.
10 neither murmur ye, as also some of them did murmur, and did perish by the destroyer.
No refunfuñen, como también refunfuñaron algunos de ellos, y perecieron a manos del destructor.
11 And all these things as types did happen to those persons, and they were written for our admonition, to whom the end of the ages did come, (aiōn g165)
Ahora bien, todas estas cosas les sucedieron a modo de ejemplo, y fueron escritas para nuestra amonestación, sobre la cual ha llegado el fin de los tiempos. (aiōn g165)
12 so that he who is thinking to stand — let him observe, lest he fall.
Por lo tanto, el que piensa que está en pie, tenga cuidado de no caer.
13 No temptation hath taken you — except human; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able, but He will make, with the temptation, also the outlet, for your being able to bear [it].
Ninguna tentación os ha cogido sino la que es común al hombre. Fiel es Dios, que no permitirá que seáis tentados por encima de vuestras posibilidades, sino que junto con la tentación os dará la vía de escape, para que podáis soportarla.
14 Wherefore, my beloved, flee from the idolatry;
Por tanto, amado mío, huye de la idolatría.
15 as to wise men I speak — judge ye what I say:
Hablo como a los sabios. Juzgad lo que digo.
16 The cup of the blessing that we bless — is it not the fellowship of the blood of the Christ? the bread that we break — is it not the fellowship of the body of the Christ?
La copa de bendición que bendecimos, ¿no es una participación de la sangre de Cristo? El pan que partimos, ¿no es una participación del cuerpo de Cristo?
17 because one bread, one body, are we the many — for we all of the one bread do partake.
Porque hay un solo pan, nosotros, que somos muchos, somos un solo cuerpo, pues todos participamos de un solo pan.
18 See Israel according to the flesh! are not those eating the sacrifices in the fellowship of the altar?
Considerad a Israel según la carne. ¿Acaso los que comen los sacrificios no participan en el altar?
19 what then do I say? that an idol is anything? or that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything? —
¿Qué estoy diciendo entonces? ¿Que una cosa sacrificada a los ídolos es algo, o que un ídolo es algo?
20 [no, ] but that the things that the nations sacrifice — they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not wish you to come into the fellowship of the demons.
Pero yo digo que lo que los gentiles sacrifican, lo sacrifican a los demonios y no a Dios, y no deseo que tengáis comunión con los demonios.
21 Ye are not able the cup of the Lord to drink, and the cup of demons; ye are not able of the table of the Lord to partake, and of the table of demons;
No podéis beber a la vez la copa del Señor y la copa de los demonios. No podéis participar a la vez en la mesa del Señor y en la de los demonios.
22 do we arouse the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than He?
¿O acaso provocamos los celos del Señor? ¿Somos más fuertes que él?
23 All things to me are lawful, but all things are not profitable; all things to me are lawful, but all things do not build up;
“Todo me es lícito,” pero no todo es provechoso. “Todo me es lícito,” pero no todo edifica.
24 let no one seek his own — but each another's.
Que nadie busque lo suyo, sino que cada uno busque el bien de su prójimo.
25 Whatever in the meat-market is sold eat ye, not inquiring, because of the conscience,
Todo lo que se vende en la carnicería, cómelo, sin preguntar por la conciencia,
26 for the Lord's [is] the earth, and its fulness;
porque “del Señor es la tierra y su plenitud”.
27 and if any one of the unbelieving do call you, and ye wish to go, all that is set before you eat, nothing inquiring, because of the conscience;
Pero si alguno de los que no creen os invita a comer y os apetece ir, comed lo que os pongan delante, sin preguntar nada por motivos de conciencia.
28 and if any one may say to you, 'This is a thing sacrificed to an idol,' — do not eat, because of that one who shewed [it], and of the conscience, for the Lord's [is] the earth and its fulness:
Pero si alguien te dice: “Esto ha sido ofrecido a los ídolos”, no lo comas por el bien de quien te lo dijo y por el bien de la conciencia. Porque “la tierra es del Señor, con toda su plenitud”.
29 and conscience, I say, not of thyself, but of the other, for why [is it] that my liberty is judged by another's conscience?
Conciencia, digo, no la tuya, sino la de los demás. Pues, ¿por qué mi libertad es juzgada por otra conciencia?
30 and if I thankfully do partake, why am I evil spoken of, for that for which I give thanks?
Si participo con agradecimiento, ¿por qué se me denuncia por algo por lo que doy gracias?
31 Whether, then, ye eat, or drink, or do anything, do all to the glory of God;
Así que, ya sea que comas o bebas, o hagas lo que hagas, hazlo todo para la gloria de Dios.
32 become offenceless, both to Jews and Greeks, and to the assembly of God;
No deis ocasión de tropiezo, ni a los judíos, ni a los griegos, ni a la asamblea de Dios;
33 as I also in all things do please all, not seeking my own profit, but that of many — that they may be saved.
así como yo también complazco a todos en todo, no buscando mi propio provecho, sino el de muchos, para que se salven.
