1 Corinthians 10

1 And I do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,

प्रिय भाई बहनो, मैं नहीं चाहता कि तुम इस बात से अनजान रहो कि हमारे सारे पूर्वज बादल की छाया में यात्रा करते रहे, और सभी ने समुद्र पार किया.

2 and all to Moses were baptized in the cloud, and in the sea;

उन सभी का मोशेह में, बादल में और समुद्र में बपतिस्मा हुआ.

3 and all the same spiritual food did eat,

सबने एक ही आत्मिक भोजन किया,

4 and all the same spiritual drink did drink, for they were drinking of a spiritual rock following them, and the rock was the Christ;

सबने एक ही आत्मिक जल पिया क्योंकि वे सब एक ही आत्मिक चट्टान में से पिया करते थे, जो उनके साथ साथ चलती थी और वह चट्टान थे मसीह.

5 but in the most of them God was not well pleased, for they were strewn in the wilderness,

यह सब होने पर भी परमेश्वर उनमें से बहुतों से संतुष्ट न थे इसलिये बंजर भूमि में ही उनके प्राण ले लिए गए.

6 and those things became types of us, for our not passionately desiring evil things, as also these did desire.

ये सभी घटनाएं हमारे लिए चेतावनी थी कि हम बुराई की लालसा न करें, जैसे हमारे पूर्वजों ने की थी.

7 Neither become ye idolaters, as certain of them, as it hath been written, 'The people sat down to eat and to drink, and stood up to play;'

न ही तुम मूर्तिपूजक बनो, जैसे उनमें से कुछ थे, जैसा पवित्र शास्त्र का लेख है: वे खाने-पीने बैठ गए और खड़े होकर रंगरेलियां मनाने लगे.

8 neither may we commit whoredom, as certain of them did commit whoredom, and there fell in one day twenty-three thousand;

हम वेश्यागामी में लीन न हों, जैसे उनमें से कुछ हो गए थे और परिणामस्वरूप, एक ही दिन में तेईस हज़ार की मृत्यु हो गई.

9 neither may we tempt the Christ, as also certain of them did tempt, and by the serpents did perish;

न हम मसीह को परखें, जैसे उनमें से कुछ ने किया और सांपों के डसने से उनका नाश हो गया.

10 neither murmur ye, as also some of them did murmur, and did perish by the destroyer.

न ही तुम कुड़कुड़ाओ, जैसा उनमें से कुछ ने किया और नाश करनेवाले द्वारा नाश किए गए.

11 And all these things as types did happen to those persons, and they were written for our admonition, to whom the end of the ages did come, (aiōn g165)

उनके साथ घटी हुई ये घटनाएं चिन्ह थी, जो हमारे लिए चेतावनी के रूप में लिखी गई क्योंकि हम उस युग में हैं, जो अंत के पास है. (aiōn g165)

12 so that he who is thinking to stand — let him observe, lest he fall.

इसलिये वह, जो यह समझता है कि वह स्थिर है, सावधान रहे कि कहीं गिर न पड़े.

13 No temptation hath taken you — except human; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able, but He will make, with the temptation, also the outlet, for your being able to bear [it].

कोई ऐसी परीक्षा तुम पर नहीं आई, जो सभी के लिए सामान्य न हो. परमेश्वर विश्वासयोग्य हैं. वह तुम्हें किसी ऐसी परीक्षा में नहीं पड़ने देंगे, जो तुम्हारी क्षमता के परे हो परंतु वह परीक्षा के साथ उपाय भी करेंगे कि तुम स्थिर रह सको.

14 Wherefore, my beloved, flee from the idolatry;

इसलिये प्रिय भाई बहनो, मूर्ति पूजा से दूर भागो.

15 as to wise men I speak — judge ye what I say:

यह मैं तुम्हें बुद्धिमान मानते हुए कह रहा हूं: मैं जो कह रहा हूं उसको परखो.

16 The cup of the blessing that we bless — is it not the fellowship of the blood of the Christ? the bread that we break — is it not the fellowship of the body of the Christ?

वह धन्यवाद का प्याला, जिसे हम धन्यवाद करते हैं, क्या मसीह के लहू में हमारी सहभागिता नहीं? वह रोटी, जो हम आपस में बांटते हैं, क्या मसीह के शरीर में हमारी सहभागिता नहीं?

17 because one bread, one body, are we the many — for we all of the one bread do partake.

एक रोटी में हमारी सहभागिता हमारे अनेक होने पर भी हमारे एक शरीर होने का प्रतीक है.

18 See Israel according to the flesh! are not those eating the sacrifices in the fellowship of the altar?

इस्राएलियों के विषय में सोचो, जो वेदी पर चढ़ाई हुई बलि खाते हैं, क्या इसके द्वारा वे एक नहीं हो जाते?

19 what then do I say? that an idol is anything? or that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything? —

क्या है मेरे कहने का मतलब? क्या मूर्ति को चढ़ाई हुई वस्तु का कोई महत्व है या उस मूर्ति का कोई महत्व है?

20 [no, ] but that the things that the nations sacrifice — they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not wish you to come into the fellowship of the demons.

बिलकुल नहीं! मेरी मान्यता तो यह है कि जो वस्तुएं गैर-यहूदी चढ़ाते हैं, वे उन्हें दुष्टात्माओं को चढ़ाते हैं—परमेश्वर को नहीं.

21 Ye are not able the cup of the Lord to drink, and the cup of demons; ye are not able of the table of the Lord to partake, and of the table of demons;

यह हो ही नहीं सकता कि तुम प्रभु के प्याले में से पियो और दुष्टात्माओं के प्याले में से भी; इसी प्रकार यह भी नहीं हो सकता कि तुम प्रभु की मेज़ में सहभागी हो और दुष्टात्माओं की मेज़ में भी.

22 do we arouse the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than He?

क्या हम प्रभु में जलन पैदा करने का दुस्साहस कर रहे हैं? क्या हम प्रभु से अधिक शक्तिशाली हैं?

23 All things to me are lawful, but all things are not profitable; all things to me are lawful, but all things do not build up;

उचित तो सभी कुछ है किंतु सभी कुछ लाभदायक नहीं. उचित तो सभी कुछ है किंतु सभी कुछ उन्‍नति के लिए नहीं.

24 let no one seek his own — but each another's.

तुममें से प्रत्येक अपने भले का ही नहीं परंतु दूसरे के भले का भी ध्यान रखे.

25 Whatever in the meat-market is sold eat ye, not inquiring, because of the conscience,

अपनी अंतरात्मा की भलाई के लिए बिना कोई प्रश्न किए मांस विक्रेताओं के यहां से जो कुछ उपलब्ध हो, वह खा लो,

26 for the Lord's [is] the earth, and its fulness;

क्योंकि पृथ्वी और पृथ्वी में जो कुछ भी है सभी कुछ प्रभु का ही है.

27 and if any one of the unbelieving do call you, and ye wish to go, all that is set before you eat, nothing inquiring, because of the conscience;

यदि किसी अविश्वासी के आमंत्रण पर उसके यहां भोजन के लिए जाना ज़रूरी हो जाए तो अपनी अंतरात्मा की भलाई के लिए, बिना कोई भी प्रश्न किए वह खा लो, जो तुम्हें परोसा जाए.

28 and if any one may say to you, 'This is a thing sacrificed to an idol,' — do not eat, because of that one who shewed [it], and of the conscience, for the Lord's [is] the earth and its fulness:

किंतु यदि कोई तुम्हें यह बताए, “यह मूर्तियों को भेंट बलि है,” तो उसे न खाना—उसकी भलाई के लिए, जिसने तुम्हें यह बताया है तथा विवेक की भलाई के लिए.

29 and conscience, I say, not of thyself, but of the other, for why [is it] that my liberty is judged by another's conscience?

मेरा मतलब तुम्हारे अपने विवेक से नहीं परंतु उस अन्य व्यक्ति के विवेक से है—मेरी स्वतंत्रता भला क्यों किसी दूसरे के विवेक द्वारा नापी जाए?

30 and if I thankfully do partake, why am I evil spoken of, for that for which I give thanks?

यदि मैं धन्यवाद देकर भोजन में शामिल होता हूं तो उसके लिए मुझ पर दोष क्यों लगाया जाता है, जिसके लिए मैंने परमेश्वर के प्रति धन्यवाद प्रकट किया?

31 Whether, then, ye eat, or drink, or do anything, do all to the glory of God;

इसलिये तुम चाहे जो कुछ करो, चाहे जो कुछ खाओ या पियो, वह परमेश्वर की महिमा के लिए हो.

32 become offenceless, both to Jews and Greeks, and to the assembly of God;

तुम न यहूदियों के लिए ठोकर का कारण बनो, न यूनानियों के लिए और न ही परमेश्वर की कलीसिया के लिए;

33 as I also in all things do please all, not seeking my own profit, but that of many — that they may be saved.

ठीक जिस प्रकार मैं भी सबको सब प्रकार से प्रसन्‍न रखता हूं और मैं अपने भले का नहीं परंतु दूसरों के भले का ध्यान रखता हूं कि उन्हें उद्धार प्राप्‍त हो.
