1 Chronicles 14

1 And Huram king of Tyre sendeth messengers unto David, and cedar-wood, and artificers of walls, and artificers of wood, to build to him a house.

حیرام، پادشاه صور قاصدانی نزد داوود فرستاد. همراه این قاصدان نجاران و بنایانی با چوب درختان سرو نیز فرستاد تا برای داوود کاخی بسازند.

2 And David knoweth that Jehovah hath established him for king over Israel, because of the lifting up on high of his kingdom, for the sake of His people Israel.

پس داوود فهمید که خداوند به خاطر قوم خود اسرائیل، او را پادشاه ساخته است و به سلطنتش اینچنین عظمتی بخشیده است.

3 And David taketh again wives in Jerusalem, and David begetteth again sons and daughters;

داوود پس از آنکه به اورشلیم نقل مکان نمود، زنان بیشتری گرفت و صاحب دختران و پسران دیگری شد.

4 and these [are] the names of the children whom he hath in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

فرزندان او که در اورشلیم به دنیا آمدند اینها هستند: شموع، شوباب، ناتان، سلیمان، یبحار، الیشوع، الیفلط، نوجه، نافج، یافیع، الیشامع، بعلیاداع، الیفلط.

5 and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,

6 and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

7 and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.

8 And the Philistines hear that David hath been anointed for king over all Israel, and all the Philistines go up to seek David, and David heareth, and goeth out before them.

وقتی فلسطینی‌ها شنیدند داوود، پادشاه اسرائیل شده است، نیروهای خود را برای جنگ با او بسیج نمودند. وقتی داوود این را شنید سپاه خود را برای مقابله با دشمن جمع کرد.

9 And the Philistines have come, and rush into the valley of Rephaim,

فلسطینی‌ها به درهٔ رفائیم آمده، در آنجا پخش شدند.

10 and David asketh of God, saying, 'Do I go up against the Philistines — and hast Thou given them into my hand?' And Jehovah saith to him, 'Go up, and I have given them into thy hand.'

داوود از خدا سؤال کرد: «اگر به جنگ فلسطینی‌ها بروم آیا مرا پیروز خواهی ساخت؟» خداوند جواب داد: «بله، تو را بر دشمن پیروز خواهم ساخت.»

11 And they go up into Baal-Perazim, and David smiteth them there, and David saith, 'God hath broken up mine enemies by my hand, like the breaking up of waters;' therefore they have called the name of that place Baal-Perazim.

پس داوود در بعل فراصیم به فلسطینی‌ها حمله کرد و آنها را شکست داد. داوود گفت: «خدا به دست من دشمنان ما را شکست داد! او چون سیلاب بر آنها رخنه کرد.» به همین سبب آن محل را بعل فراصیم (یعنی «خدای رخنه‌کننده») نامیدند.

12 And they leave there their gods, and David speaketh, and they are burnt with fire.

فلسطینی‌ها تعداد زیادی بت برجای گذاشتند و داوود دستور داد آنها را بسوزانند.

13 And the Philistines add again, and rush into the valley,

فلسطینی‌ها بار دیگر بازگشتند و در درهٔ رفائیم پخش شدند.

14 and David asketh again of God, and God saith to him, 'Do not go up after them, turn round from them, and thou hast come to them from over-against the mulberries;

داوود باز از خدا سؤال کرد که چه کند و خدا در جواب او فرمود: «از روبرو به آنها حمله نکن بلکه دور بزن و از میان درختان توت به ایشان حمله کن!

15 and it cometh to pass, when thou hearest the sound of the stepping at the heads of the mulberries, then thou goest out into battle, for God hath gone out before thee to smite the camp of the Philistines.'

وقتی صدای پایی بر سر درختان توت شنیدی آنگاه حمله را شروع کن، زیرا این علامت آن است که من پیشاپیش شما حرکت می‌کنم و لشکر فلسطینی‌ها را شکست می‌دهم.»

16 And David doth as God commanded him, and they smite the camp of the Philistines from Gibeon even unto Gazer;

پس داوود مطابق دستور خدا عمل کرده، سپاه فلسطینی‌ها را از جبعون تا جازر سرکوب نمود.

17 and the name of David goeth out into all the lands, and Jehovah hath put his fear on all the nations.

به این ترتیب شهرت داوود در همه جا پخش شد و خداوند ترس او را در دل تمام قومها جای داد.
