< 1 Chronicles 11 >

1 And gathered are all Israel unto David to Hebron, saying, 'Lo, thy bone and thy flesh [are] we;

১ইস্রায়েলীয়েরা সবাই হিব্রোণে দায়ূদের কাছে জড়ো হয়ে বলল, “দেখুন, আমরা আপনার হাড় ও মাংস।

2 even in time past, even in Saul's being king, it is thou who art taking out and bringing in Israel, and Jehovah thy God saith to thee: Thou dost feed My people Israel, and thou art leader over My people Israel.'

২এর আগে যখন শৌল রাজা ছিলেন তখন যুদ্ধের দিন আপনিই ইস্রায়েলীয়দের সৈন্য পরিচালনা করতেন; আর আপনার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু আপনাকে বলেছিলেন যেন আপনিই তাঁর লোকদের, অর্থাৎ ইস্রায়েলীয়দের দেখাশোনা করবেন ও তাদের নেতা হবেন।”

3 And all the elders of Israel come in unto the king to Hebron, and David maketh with them a covenant in Hebron before Jehovah, and they anoint David for king over Israel, according to the word of Jehovah by the hand of Samuel.

৩এই ভাবে ইস্রায়েল দেশের সমস্ত প্রাচীনেরা হিব্রোণে রাজার কাছে এলেন। তখন দায়ূদ সদাপ্রভুকে সাক্ষী রেখে তাঁদের সঙ্গে একটা চুক্তি করলেন, আর শমূয়েলের মধ্য দিয়ে বলা সদাপ্রভুর কথা অনুসারে তাঁরা দায়ূদকে ইস্রায়েল দেশের উপর রাজা হিসাবে অভিষেক করলেন।

4 And David goeth, and all Israel, to Jerusalem — it [is] Jebus — and there the Jebusite, the inhabitants of the land.

৪পরে দায়ূদ ও সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলীয়েরা যিরূশালেমে, অর্থাৎ যিবূষে গেলেন। যিবূষীয়েরা সেখানে বাস করত।

5 And the inhabitants of Jebus say to David, 'Thou dost not come in hither;' and David captureth the fortress of Zion — it [is] the city of David.

৫তারা দায়ূদকে বলল, “তুমি এখানে ঢুকতে পারবে না।” তবুও দায়ূদ সিয়োনের দুর্গটা অধিকার করলেন। সেটাই দায়ূদ শহর।

6 And David saith, 'Whoever smiteth the Jebusite first doth become head and prince;' and go up first doth Joab son of Zeruiah and becometh head.

৬দায়ূদ বলেছিলেন, “যে লোক প্রথমে যিবূষীয়দের আক্রমণ করবে সেই হবে প্রধান সেনাপতি।” এতে সরূয়ার ছেলে যোয়াব প্রথমে আক্রমণ করতে গেলেন, আর সেইজন্য তাঁকে প্রধান সেনাপতি করা হল।

7 And David dwelleth in the fortress, therefore they have called it, 'City of David;'

৭এর পর দায়ূদ সেই দুর্গে বাস করতে লাগলেন; সেইজন্য লোকেরা তাঁর নাম দায়ূদ শহর রাখল।

8 and he buildeth the city round about, from Millo, and unto the circumference, and Joab restoreth the rest of the city.

৮তিনি মিল্লোর কাছে শহর গড়ে তুললেন এবং যোয়াব শহরের বাদবাকী অংশ মেরামত করলেন।

9 And David goeth, going on and becoming great, and Jehovah of Hosts [is] with him.

৯দায়ূদ দিনের দিনের আরও মহান হয়ে উঠলেন, কারণ বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু তাঁর সঙ্গে ছিলেন।

10 And these [are] heads of the mighty ones whom David hath, who are strengthening themselves with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to cause him to reign, according to the word of Jehovah, over Israel.

১০সদাপ্রভুর প্রতিজ্ঞা অনুসারে দায়ূদ যাতে গোটা দেশটার উপর তাঁর অধিকার স্থাপন করতে পারেন সেইজন্য তাঁর শক্তিশালী লোকদের মধ্যে যাঁরা প্রধান ছিলেন তারা সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলীয়দের সঙ্গে মিলে তাঁর পক্ষ নিয়ে তাঁর রাজকীয় ক্ষমতাকে বাড়িয়ে তুললেন।

11 And this [is] an account of the mighty ones whom David hath: Jashobeam son of a Hachmonite [is] head of the thirty; he is lifting up his spear against three hundred — wounded, at one time.

১১দায়ূদের বীরদের সংখ্যা এই; যাশবিয়াম নামে হক্‌মোনীয়দের একজন ছেলে ছিলেন, ত্রিশ জন বীর যোদ্ধাদের দলের প্রধান। তিনি বর্শা চালিয়ে একই দিনের তিনশো লোককে মেরে ফেলেছিলেন।

12 And after him [is] Eleazar son of Dodo the Ahohite, he [is] among the three mighty;

১২তাঁর পরের জন ছিলেন ইলীয়াসর। ইনি ছিলেন অহোহীয় দোদোরের ছেলে। নাম করা তিনজন বীরের মধ্যে ইনি ছিলেন একজন।

13 he hath been with David in Pas-Dammim, and the Philistines have been gathered there to battle, and a portion of the field is full of barley, and the people have fled from the face of the Philistines,

১৩পলেষ্টীয়েরা যখন যুদ্ধের জন্য পস্‌ দম্মীমে জড়ো হয়েছিল তখন ইলীয়াসর দায়ূদের সঙ্গে ছিলেন। একটা জায়গায় যবে ভরা একটা ক্ষেতে ইস্রায়েলীয় সৈন্যেরা পলেষ্টীয়দের সামনে থেকে পালিয়ে গেল।

14 and they station themselves in the midst of the portion, and deliver it, and smite the Philistines, and Jehovah saveth — a great salvation.

১৪তারা সেই ক্ষেতের মাঝখানে গিয়ে দাঁড়ালেন। তাঁরা সেই ক্ষেতটা রক্ষা করলেন এবং পলেষ্টীয়দের শেষ করে দিলেন। সেই দিন সদাপ্রভু তাঁদের রক্ষা করলেন ও মহাজয় দান করলেন।

15 And three of the thirty heads go down on the rock unto David, unto the cave of Adullam, and the host of the Philistines is encamping in the valley of Rephaim,

১৫ত্রিশজন বীরের মধ্যে তিনজন অদুল্লম গুহার কাছে যে পাথরটা ছিল সেখানে দায়ূদের কাছে আসলেন। তখন পলেষ্টীয়দের সৈন্যরা রফায়ীম উপত্যকায় ছাউনি ফেলে ছিল।

16 and David [is] then in the fortress, and the station of the Philistines [is] then in Beth-Lehem,

১৬সেই দিন দায়ূদ দুর্গম জায়গায় ছিলেন আর পলেষ্টীয় সৈন্যদল ছিল বৈৎলেহমে।

17 and David longeth, and saith, 'Who doth give me to drink water from the well of Beth-Lehem, that [is] at the gate!'

১৭এমন দিন দায়ূদ খুব পিপাসিত হলেন এবং বললেন, “হায়! কে আমাকে বৈৎলেহমের দরজার কাছের কূয়োর জল এনে পান করতে দেবে?”

18 And the three break through the camp of the Philistines, and draw water from the well of Beth-Lehem, that [is] at the gate, and bear and bring in unto David, and David hath not been willing to drink it, and poureth it out to Jehovah,

১৮এই কথা শুনে সেই তিনজন বীর পলেষ্টীয় সৈন্যদলের ভিতর দিয়ে গিয়ে বৈৎলেহমের ফটকের কাছের কুয়োটা থেকে জল তুলে দায়ূদের কাছে নিয়ে গেলেন। কিন্তু দায়ূদ তা পান করতে রাজি হলেন না; তার বদলে তিনি সেই জল সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশ্যে ঢেলে ফেলে দিলেন।

19 and saith, 'Far be it from me, by my God, to do this; the blood of these men do I drink with their lives? for with their lives they have brought it;' and he was not willing to drink it; these [things] did the three mighty ones.

১৯আর বললেন, “হে ঈশ্বর, আমি যে এই জল পান তা দূরে থাক্‌। এই লোকেরা, যারা তাদের প্রাণের ঝুঁকি নিয়ে গিয়েছিল তাদের রক্ত কি আমি পান করবো?” তাঁরা তাঁদের প্রাণের ঝুঁকি নিয়ে সেই জল এনেছিল বলে দায়ূদ তা পান করতে রাজি হলেন না। সেই তিনজন নাম করা বীর এই সব কাজ করেছিল।

20 And Abishai brother of Joab, he hath been head of the three: and he is lifting up his spear against three hundred — wounded, and hath a name among three.

২০যোয়াবের ভাই অবীশয় ছিলেন সেই তিন জনের মধ্যে প্রধান। তিনি বর্শা চালিয়ে তিনশো লোককে মেরে ফেলেছিলেন এবং তিনিও ঐ তিন জনের মত নাম করা হয়ে উঠেছিলেন।

21 Of the three by the two he is honoured, and becometh their head; and unto the [first] three he hath not come.

২১তিনি সেই তিন জনের চেয়ে আরও বেশী সম্মান পেয়েছিলেন এবং তাঁদের সেনাপতি হয়েছিলেন, অথচ তিন জনের সমান ছিলেন না।

22 Benaiah son of Jehoiada, son of a man of valour, of great deeds, from Kabzeel: he hath smitten the two lion-like Moabites, and he hath gone down and smitten the lion in the midst of the pit, in the day of snow.

২২কব্‌সেলীয় যিহোয়াদার ছেলে বনায় ছিলেন একজন বীর যোদ্ধা। তিনিও বড় বড় কাজ করেছিলেন। মোয়াবীয় অরীয়েলের দুই ছেলেকে তিনি মেরে ফেলেছিলেন। এক তুষার পড়া দিনের তিনি একটা গর্তের মধ্যে নেমে গিয়ে একটা সিংহকে মেরে ফেলেছিলেন।

23 And he hath smitten the man, the Egyptian — a man of measure, five by the cubit — and in the hand of the Egyptian [is] a spear like a beam of weavers, and he goeth down unto him with a rod, and taketh violently away the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slayeth him with his own spear.

২৩আবার একজন পাঁচ হাত (সাড়ে সাত ফুট) লম্বা মিশরীয়কে তিনি মেরে ফেলেছিলেন। সেই মিশরীয়ের হাতে ছিল তাঁতীর তাঁত বোনার কাঠের মত একটা বর্শা, কিন্তু তবুও তিনি লাঠি হাতে তার দিকে এগিয়ে গিয়েছিলেন। সেই মিশরীয়ের হাত থেকে বর্শাটা কেড়ে নিয়ে তিনি সেই বর্শা দিয়ে তাকে মেরে ফেলেছিলেন।

24 These [things] hath Benaiah son of Jehoiada done, and hath a name among the three mighty ones.

২৪যিহোয়াদার ছেলে বনায় এই সব কাজ করলেন। তিনিও সেই তিনজন বীরের মধ্যে নাম করা হয়ে উঠেছিলেন।

25 Of the thirty, lo, he [is] honoured, and unto the [first] three he hath not come, and David setteth him over his guard.

২৫সেই তিন জনের মধ্যে তাঁকে ধরা না হলেও তিনি ত্রিশজনের থেকে বেশি সম্মানীয় ছিলেন। দায়ূদ তাঁর দেহরক্ষীদের ভার বনায়ের উপরেই দিয়েছিলেন।

26 And the mighty ones of the forces [are] Asahel brother of Joab, Elhanan son of Dodo of Beth-Lehem,

২৬সেই শক্তিশালী লোকেরা হলেন যোয়াবের ভাই অসাহেল, বৈৎলেহমের দোদোর ছেলে ইলহানন,

27 Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,

২৭হরোরীয় শম্মোৎ, পলোনীয় হেলস,

28 Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abi-Ezer the Annethothite,

২৮তকোয়ের ইক্কেশের ছেলে ঈরা, অনাথোতের অবীয়েষর,

29 Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

২৯হূশাতীয় সিব্বখয়, অহোহীয় ঈলয়,
