Titus 1

1 Poul, the seruaunt of God, and apostle of Jhesu Crist, bi the feith of the chosun of God, and bi the knowing of the treuthe, whiche is aftir pitee,

विश्वास की सहभागिता में मेरे सच्चे पुत्र तीतॉस को परमेश्वर के दास तथा मसीह येशु के प्रेरित पौलॉस की ओर से, जिन्हें परमेश्वर के चुने हुओं के विश्वास तथा उनके सत्य के ज्ञान के लिए,

2 in to the hope of euerlastinge lijf, which lijf God that lieth not, bihiyte bifore tymes of the world; (aiōnios g166)

जो अनंत जीवन की आशा में परमेश्वर की प्रतिज्ञा के अनुसार है, जिस अनंत जीवन की प्रतिज्ञा सनातन से ही परमेश्वर द्वारा की गई, जो कभी झूठ नहीं बोलते, (aiōnios g166)

3 but he hath schewid in hise tymes his word in preching, that is bitakun to me bi the comaundement of `God oure sauyour,

अब जिनके ठहराए हुए समय पर इस आशा का संदेश परमेश्वर हमारे उद्धारकर्ता की आज्ञा पर मुझे सौंपी गई प्रचार की सेवकाई द्वारा प्रकट किया गया है.

4 to Tite, most dereworthe sone bi the comyn feith, grace and pees of God the fadir, and of Crist Jhesu, oure sauyour.

पिता परमेश्वर तथा मसीह येशु हमारे उद्धारकर्ता की ओर से, तुम्हें अनुग्रह और शांति मिले.

5 For cause of this thing Y lefte thee at Crete, that thou amende tho thingis that failen, and ordeyne preestis bi citees, as also Y disposide to thee.

मैंने तुम्हें क्रेते द्वीप में इसलिये छोड़ा था कि तुम वहां बचे हुए काम की पूरी व्यवस्था करो तथा हर एक नगर में मेरे अनुदेशानुसार ऐसे कलीसिया-पुरनियों की नियुक्ति करो,

6 If ony man is withoute cryme, an hosebonde of o wijf, and hath feithful sones, not in accusacioun of letcherie, or not suget.

जो निर्दोष तथा एक पत्नी के पति हों, जिनकी संतान विश्वासी हो तथा जिन पर कामुकता और निरंकुशता का आरोप न हो.

7 For it bihoueth a bischop to be without cryme, a dispendour of God, not proud, not wrathful, not drunkelew, not smytere, not coueytouse of foul wynnyng;

परमेश्वर द्वारा चुने हुए प्रबंधक के रूप में भंडारी का निर्दोष होना ज़रूरी है, न कि हठी, क्रोधी, मदिरा पीनेवाला, झगड़ालू या लालची.

8 but holdinge hospitalite, benygne, prudent, sobre, iust,

वह अतिथि-सत्कार करनेवाला, सब प्रकार की उचित बातों का समर्थक, विवेकशील, न्यायी, पवित्र तथा ऐसा हो जिसने अपनी इंद्रियों को अपने वश में कर लिया हो.

9 hooli, contynent, takinge that trewe word, that is aftir doctryn; that he be miyti to amoneste in hoolsum techyng, and to repreue hem that ayenseien.

वह उस विश्वसनीय संदेश पर स्थिर रहे, जो सिद्धांत शिक्षा के अनुकूल है कि वह खरी शिक्षा का उपदेश कर इसके विरोधियों का मुंह बंद कर सके.

10 For ther ben many vnobedient, and veyn spekeris, and disseyueris, moost thei that ben of circumcisyoun,

अनेक लोग निरंकुश, बकवादी और कपटी हैं, विशेषकर वे, जो ख़तना समर्थक हैं.

11 whiche it bihoueth to be repreued; whiche subuerten alle housis, techinge whiche thingis it bihoueth not, for the loue of foul wynnyng.

इनका मुख बंद करना अत्यावश्यक है क्योंकि ये नीच कमाई के लाभ के लिए गलत शिक्षा देकर घर के घर उजाड़ रहे हैं.

12 And oon of hem, her propre profete, seide, Men of Crete ben euere more lyeris, yuele beestis, of slowe wombe.

उन्हीं में से एक ने, जो उनका अपना तथाकथित भविष्यवक्ता है, कहा है, “क्रेतेवासी हमेशा ही झूठे, दुष्ट पशु और आलसी पेटू रहे हैं.”

13 This witnessyng is trewe. For what cause blame hem sore, that thei be hool in feith,

यह घोषणा सच है. इसलिये उन्हें कड़ी फटकार लगाना, कि वे विश्वास में स्थिर बने रहें

14 not yyuynge tent to fablis of Jewis, and to maundementis of men, that turnen awei hem fro treuthe.

और यहूदियों की काल्पनिक कहानियों और सच से दूर हो गए व्यक्तियों के आदेशों की ओर ध्यान न दें.

15 And alle thingis ben clene to clene men; but to vnclene men and to vnfeithful no thing is clene, for the soule and conscience of hem ben maad vnclene.

निर्मल व्यक्ति के लिए सब वस्तुएं निर्मल हैं किंतु वे, जो भ्रष्‍ट हैं तथा विश्वास नहीं करते, उनके लिए निर्मल कुछ भी नहीं है. उनके मन तथा विवेक दोनों ही अशुद्ध हैं.

16 Thei knoulechen that thei knowen God, but bi dedis thei denyen; whanne thei ben abhominable, and vnbileueful, and repreuable to al good werk.

वे परमेश्वर को जानने का दावा तो अवश्य करते हैं परंतु उनके काम इसे गलत साबित करते हैं. वे घृणित, अवज्ञाकारी और किसी भी भले काम के योग्य नहीं हैं.
