Ruth 4

1 Therfor Booz stiede to the yate, and sat there; and whanne he hadde seyn the kynesman passe forth, of whom the word was had, Booz seide to hym, Bowe thou a litil, and sitte here; and he clepide hym bi his name. And he turnede, and sat.

Y Booz subió a la puerta, y asentóse allí: Y, he aquí, pasaba aquel redentor del cual Booz había hablado. Y díjole: Fulano, o zutano, llégate, y siéntate: y él vino, y sentóse.

2 Forsothe Booz took ten `men of the eldere men of the citee, and seide to hem, Sitte ye here.

Entonces él tomó diez varones de los ancianos de la ciudad, y dijo: Sentáos aquí. Y ellos se sentaron.

3 And while thei saten, Booz spak to the kynesman, Noemy, that turnede ayen fro the cuntrey of Moab, seelde the part of the feeld of oure brother Elymelech,

Y dijo al redentor: Una parte de las tierras que tuvo nuestro hermano Elimelec, vendió Noemí, la que volvió del campo de Moab.

4 which thing Y wolde that thou here; and Y wolde seie to thee bifor alle `men syttynge and grettere in birthe of my puple. If thou wolt haue in possessioun the feeld bi riyt of nyy kyn, bye thou, and `haue thou in possessioun; sotheli if it displesith thee, schewe thou this same thing to me, that Y wyte what Y `owe to do; for noon is niy in kyn, outakun thee which art the formere, and outakun me which am the secunde. And he answeride, Y schal bie the feeld.

Y yo dije en mí de hacértelo saber, y decirte que las tomes delante de los que están aquí sentados, y delante de los ancianos de mi pueblo. Si redimieres, redime. Y si no quisieres redimir, decláramelo para que yo lo sepa: porque no hay otro que redima si no tú; y yo después de ti. Y el otro respondió: Yo redimiré.

5 To whom Booz seide, Whanne thou hast bouyte the feeld of the `hond of the womman, thou owist `to take also Ruth of Moab, that was the wijf of the deed man, that thou reise the name of thi kynesman in his eritage.

Entonces replicó Booz: El mismo día que tomares las tierras de mano de Noemí, tomaste también a Rut Moabita mujer del difunto, para que levantes el nombre del muerto sobre su posesión.

6 Which answeride, Y forsake the ryyt of nyy kyn; for Y owe not to do awei the eritage of my meynee; vse thou my priuelegie, which priuelegie Y knowleche me to wante gladli.

Y el redentor respondió: No puedo yo redimir a mi provecho; porque echaría a perder mi heredad; redime tú mi redención; porque yo no podré redimir.

7 Forsothe this was the custom bi eld tyme in Israel among kynesmen, that if a man yaf his riyt to anothir man, that the grauntyng were stidefast, the man vnlaase his scho, and yaf to his kynesman; this was the witnessyng of the yift in Israel.

Y había ya de luengo tiempo esta costumbre en Israel en la redención o contrato, que para la confirmación de cualquier negocio el uno quitaba su zapato, y lo daba a su compañero. Y éste era el testimonio en Israel.

8 Therfor Booz seide to his kynesman, Take the scho fro thee; `which scho he vnlaside anoon fro his foot.

Entonces el pariente dijo a Booz: Tómalo tú. Y diciendo esto descalzó su zapato.

9 And Booz seide to the grettere men in birthe and to al the puple, Ye ben witnessis to dai, that Y haue take in possessioun alle thingis that weren of Elymelech, and of Chelion, and of Maalon, bi the yifte of Noemy;

Y Booz dijo a los ancianos y a todo el pueblo: Vosotros seréis hoy testigos de como tomo todas las cosas que fueron de Elimelec, y todo lo que fue de Quelión, y de Majalón de mano de Noemí;

10 and that Y haue take in to wedlok Ruth of Moab, the wijf of Maalon, that Y reise the name of the deed man in his erytage; lest his name be doon awey fro his meynee and britheren and puple. Ye, he seide, ben witnessis of this thing.

Y que también tomo por mi mujer a Rut Moabita, mujer de Majalón, para que yo levante el nombre del difunto sobre su heredad, para que el nombre del muerto no se pierda de entre sus hermanos, y de la puerta de su lugar. Vosotros seréis hoy testigos.

11 Al the puple, that was in the yate, answeride, and the grettere men in birthe answeriden, We ben witnessis; the Lord make this womman, that entrith in to thin hows, as Rachel and Lia, that bildiden the hows of Israel, that sche be ensaumple of vertu in Effrata, and haue a solempne name in Bethleem;

Y dijeron todos los del pueblo que estaban a la puerta con los ancianos: Qué somos testigos. Jehová haga a la mujer que entra en tu casa, como a Raquel y a Lia, las cuales dos edificaron la casa de Israel: y tú seas ilustre en Efrata, y tengas nombradía en Belén.

12 and thin hows be maad as the hows of Fares, whom Thamar childide to Judas, of the seed which the Lord schal yyue to thee of this damesel.

Tu casa sea como la casa de Fares, al cual parió Tamar a Judá, de la simiente que Jehová te diere de aquesta moza.

13 Therfor Booz took Ruth, and took hir to wijf; and he entride to hir, and the Lord yaf to hir, that sche conseyuede, `and childide a sone.

Y así Booz tomó a Rut, y ella fue su mujer. El cual como entró a ella, Jehová le dio que concibiese, y pariese un hijo.

14 And wymmen seiden to Noemy, Blessid be the Lord, which `suffride not, that an eir failide to thi meynee, and his name were clepid in Israel;

Y las mujeres decían a Noemí: Loado sea Jehová, que hizo que no te faltase redentor hoy, cuyo nombre será nombrado en Israel.

15 and that thou haue `a man, that schal coumforte thi soule, and nursche elde age. For a child is borun of thi douytir in lawe, `which child schal loue thee, and he is myche betere to thee, than if thou haddist seuene sones.

El cual será restaurador de tu alma, y el que sustentará tu vejez: pues que tu nuera, la cual te ama, le ha parido, que más te vale ésta, que siete hijos.

16 And Noemy puttide the child resseyued in hir bosum; and sche dide the office of a nurische, and of a berere.

Y tomando Noemí el hijo, púsole en su regazo, y fuéle su ama.

17 Forsothe wymmen neiyboris thankiden hir, and seiden, A sone is borun to Noemy, and clepide his name Obeth. This is the fadir of Ysay, fadir of Dauid.

Y las vecinas le pusieron nombre, diciendo: A Noemí ha nacido un hijo: y llamáronle Obed. Éste es padre de Isaí, padre de David:

18 These ben the generaciouns of Fares; Fares gendride Esrom;

Y estas son las generaciones de Fares: Fares engendró a Jesrón;

19 Esrom gendride Aram; Aram gendride Amynadab;

Y Jesrón engendró a Ram, y Ram engendró a Aminadab;

20 Amynadab gendride Naason; Naason gendride Salmon; Salmon gendride Booz;

Y Aminadab engendró a Naasón, y Naasón engendró a Salmón;

21 Booz gendride Obeth;

Y Salmón engendró a Booz, y Booz engendró a Obed;

22 Obeth gendride Isay; Isay gendride Dauid the kyng.

Y Obed engendró a Isaí, e Isaí engendró a David.
