Ruth 4
1 Therfor Booz stiede to the yate, and sat there; and whanne he hadde seyn the kynesman passe forth, of whom the word was had, Booz seide to hym, Bowe thou a litil, and sitte here; and he clepide hym bi his name. And he turnede, and sat.
Men Boas var gått op til byporten og hadde satt sig der. Da kom løseren som Boas hadde talt om, nettop forbi, og Boas sa: Kom hit og sett dig her, min venn! Og han kom og satte sig.
2 Forsothe Booz took ten `men of the eldere men of the citee, and seide to hem, Sitte ye here.
Så kalte han til sig ti menn av byens eldste og sa: Sett eder her! Og de satte sig.
3 And while thei saten, Booz spak to the kynesman, Noemy, that turnede ayen fro the cuntrey of Moab, seelde the part of the feeld of oure brother Elymelech,
Derefter sa han til løseren: Den aker som tilhørte vår bror Elimelek, har No'omi solgt, hun som er kommet tilbake fra Moabs land.
4 which thing Y wolde that thou here; and Y wolde seie to thee bifor alle `men syttynge and grettere in birthe of my puple. And he answeride, Y schal bie the feeld.
Og jeg tenkte jeg vilde la dette komme til din kunnskap og si: Kjøp den i overvær av dem som sitter her, og av mitt folks eldste! Da sa Boas: Når du kjøper akeren av No'omi, kjøper du den også av moabittinnen Rut, den avdødes hustru, for å opreise den avdødes navn på hans arvelodd.
6 Which answeride, Y forsake the ryyt of nyy kyn; for Y owe not to do awei the eritage of my meynee; vse thou my priuelegie, which priuelegie Y knowleche me to wante gladli.
Løseren svarte: Jeg kan ikke innløse den for mig, for da vilde jeg ødelegge min egen arvelodd; innløs du for dig det jeg skulde løse, for jeg kan ikke innløse det.

9 And Booz seide to the grettere men in birthe and to al the puple, Ye ben witnessis to dai, that Y haue take in possessioun alle thingis that weren of Elymelech, and of Chelion, and of Maalon, bi the yifte of Noemy;
Da sa Boas til de eldste og alt folket: I er idag vidner på at jeg har kjøpt av No'omi alt det som tilhørte Elimelek, og alt som tilhørte Kiljon og Mahlon.
10 and that Y haue take in to wedlok Ruth of Moab, the wijf of Maalon, that Y reise the name of the deed man in his erytage; lest his name be doon awey fro his meynee and britheren and puple. Ye, he seide, ben witnessis of this thing.
Også moabittinnen Rut, Mahlons enke, har jeg vunnet mig til hustru for å opreise den avdødes navn på hans arvelodd, så den avdødes navn ikke skal bli utryddet blandt hans brødre og i hans hjemsteds port; det er I vidner på idag.
11 Al the puple, that was in the yate, answeride, and the grettere men in birthe answeriden, We ben witnessis; the Lord make this womman, that entrith in to thin hows, as Rachel and Lia, that bildiden the hows of Israel, that sche be ensaumple of vertu in Effrata, and haue a solempne name in Bethleem;
Og alt folket som var i porten, og de eldste sa: Ja, det er vi vidner på. Herren la den kvinne som nu drar inn i ditt hus, bli som Rakel og Lea, de to som bygget Israels hus, og gid du må bli en mektig mann i Efrata og få en navnkundig sønn i Betlehem!
12 and thin hows be maad as the hows of Fares, whom Thamar childide to Judas, of the seed which the Lord schal yyue to thee of this damesel.
Ditt hus bli som Peres' hus - han som Tamar fødte Juda - ved de efterkommere som Herren vil gi dig med denne unge kvinne!
13 Therfor Booz took Ruth, and took hir to wijf; and he entride to hir, and the Lord yaf to hir, that sche conseyuede, `and childide a sone.
Så tok Boas Rut hjem til sig, og hun blev hans hustru, og han gikk inn til henne; og Herren gav henne livsfrukt, og hun fødte en sønn.
14 And wymmen seiden to Noemy, Blessid be the Lord, which `suffride not, that an eir failide to thi meynee, and his name were clepid in Israel;
Da sa kvinnene til No'omi: Lovet være Herren, som ikke lot dig fattes en løser idag, og han bli navnkundig i Israel!
15 and that thou haue `a man, that schal coumforte thi soule, and nursche elde age. For a child is borun of thi douytir in lawe, `which child schal loue thee, and he is myche betere to thee, than if thou haddist seuene sones.
Han skal bli din sjels trøster og din alderdoms forsørger; for din sønnekone, som har dig kjær, har født ham, hun som er mere for dig enn syv sønner.
16 And Noemy puttide the child resseyued in hir bosum; and sche dide the office of a nurische, and of a berere.
Og No'omi tok barnet og la ham i sitt fang, og hun blev hans fostermor.
17 Forsothe wymmen neiyboris thankiden hir, and seiden, A sone is borun to Noemy, and clepide his name Obeth. This is the fadir of Ysay, fadir of Dauid.
Og grannekonene gav ham navn og sa: No'omi har fått en sønn! De kalte ham Obed; han blev far til Isai, Davids far.
18 These ben the generaciouns of Fares; Fares gendride Esrom;
Dette er Peres' efterkommere: Peres fikk sønnen Hesron,
19 Esrom gendride Aram; Aram gendride Amynadab;
og Hesron fikk sønnen Ram, og Ram fikk sønnen Amminadab,
20 Amynadab gendride Naason; Naason gendride Salmon; Salmon gendride Booz;
og Amminadab fikk sønnen Nahson, og Nahson fikk sønnen Salma,
21 Booz gendride Obeth;
og Salmon fikk sønnen Boas, og Boas fikk sønnen Obed,
22 Obeth gendride Isay; Isay gendride Dauid the kyng.
og Obed fikk sønnen Isai, og Isai fikk sønnen David.
