Ruth 2
1 Forsothe a myyti man and a man `of grete richessis, `Booz bi name, `was kynysman of Elymelech.
Di Betlehem ada seorang yang kaya dan berpengaruh, namanya adalah Boas. Dia memiliki hubungan keluarga dengan Elimelek, suami Naomi.
2 And Ruth of Moab seide to hir modir in lawe, If thou comaundist, Y schal go in to the feeld, and Y schal gadere eeris of corn that fleen the hondis of reperis, where euer Y schal fynde grace of an hosebonde man merciful in me. To whom sche answeride, Go, my douyter.
Pada suatu hari, Rut— perempuan Moab itu, berkata kepada Naomi, “Ibu, karena sekarang sedang musim panen, bolehkah aku pergi ke salah satu ladang untuk meminta izin memungut bulir-bulir jelai yang tercecer dan diperbolehkan pemilik ladang untuk diambil? Kemungkinan besar ada seseorang yang berbaik hati yang akan mengizinkan aku untuk memungut jelai.” Jawab Naomi, “Baik, pergilah anakku.”
3 Therfor `sche yede, and gaderide eeris of corn after the backis of reperis. Forsothe it bifelde, that `thilke feeld hadde a lord, Booz bi name, that was of the kynrede of Elymelech.
Lalu Ruth pergi memungut bulir-bulir jelai yang tercecer dari ikatan jelai. Dengan tidak sengaja, ternyata Rut sedang bekerja pada ladang milik Boas— anggota keluarga Elimelek tersebut.
4 And lo! he cam fro Bethleem. And he seide to the reperis, The Lord be with you. Whiche answeriden to hym, The Lord blesse thee.
Saat Rut sedang berada di ladang, tibalah Boas dari Betlehem dan menyapa orang-orang yang sedang memanen di ladangnya, katanya, “TUHAN menyertai kalian!” Lalu mereka membalas, “TUHAN menyertaimu juga!”
5 And Booz seide to the yong man that was souereyn to the reperis, Who is this damysel?
Kemudian bertanyalah Boas kepada mandor yang mengawasi orang-orang tersebut, “Siapakah perempuan muda di sana dan siapakah keluarganya?”
6 Whiche answeride, This is the womman of Moab, that cam with Noemy fro the cuntrey of Moab; and sche preiede,
Mandor itu menjawab, “Dialah perempuan muda asal Moab yang kembali dengan Naomi.
7 that sche schulde gedere eeris of corn leeuynge bihynde, and sue the `steppis of reperis; and fro the morewtid til now sche stondith in the feeld, and sotheli nethir at a moment sche turnede ayen hoom.
Tadi pagi dia minta izin untuk mengumpulkan bulir-bulir jelai yang tercecer dari ikatan jelai. Dia datang sangat pagi, bekerja keras, dan hanya beristirahat sejenak di pondok.”
8 And Booz seide to Ruth, Douytir, here thou; go thou not in to anothir feelde to gadere, nether go awei fro this place, but be thou ioyned to my dameselis,
Boas menghampiri Rut dan berkata, “Dengarlah anakku. Tetaplah di sini bersama kami untuk memungut bulir jelai. Tidak perlu kamu bekerja di ladang milik orang lain. Tetaplah berada dekat pekerja perempuan yang bekerja di ladangku.
9 and sue thou where thei repen; for Y comaundide to my children, that `no man be diseseful to thee; but also if thou thirstist, go to the fardels, and drynke `watris, of whiche my children drynken.
Perhatikan bagian mana yang sedang mereka kerjakan, lalu ikutilah mereka. Aku sudah memperingatkan para pekerja laki-laki supaya tidak mengganggu kamu. Karena itu bila kamu haus, silakan ambil air minum di tempat penyimpanan yang sudah mereka isi.”
10 And sche felde on hir face, and worschipide on the erthe; and seide to hym, Wherof is this to me, that Y schulde fynde grace bifor thin iyen, that thou woldist knowe me a straunge womman?
Bersujudlah Rut di hadapan Boas sambil berkata, “Saya tidak layak untuk menerima semua kebaikan dan belas kasihan Tuan. Saya hanyalah orang asing.”
11 To whom he answeride, Alle thingis ben teld to me, whiche thou didist to thi modir in lawe after the deeth of thin hosebonde, and that thou hast forsake thi fadir and modir, and the lond `in which thou were borun, and hast come to a puple, whom thou `knowist not bifore.
Jawab Boas, “Anakku, aku sudah mengetahui semua yang sudah kamu perbuat untuk ibu mertuamu sejak kematian suamimu. Bahkan kamu meninggalkan kedua orangtuamu dan tanah kelahiranmu untuk menetap di sini sebagai orang asing.
12 The Lord yelde to thee for thi werk, and resseyue thou ful mede of the Lord God of Israel, to whom thou camest, and vndir whose wengis thou fleddist.
Karena kemurahan hatimu itu, kiranya TUHAN membalas segala kerja kerasmu. Semoga TUHAN Allah Israel memberkatimu, karena kamu sudah datang berlindung kepada-Nya.”
13 And sche seide, My lord, Y haue founde grace bifor thin iyen, which hast coumfortid me, and hast spoke to the herte of thin handmaide, which am not lijk oon of thi damesels.
Jawab Rut, “Saya berharap tetap menyenangkan hati Tuan! Walaupun saya bukan salah seorang pekerja di sini, Tuan sudah membesarkan hati saya dengan menunjukkan belas kasihan.”
14 And Booz seide to hir, Whanne the our of etyng is, come thou hidur, and ete breed, and wete thi mussel in vynegre. Therfor sche sat at the `side of reperis; and he dresside to hir potage, and sche eet, and was fillid; and sche took the relifs.
Pada waktu makan siang, Boas memanggil Rut, “Kemarilah! Silakan ambil sendiri makanan ini. Dan kamu dapat celupkan rotimu ke dalam saus ini.” Maka duduklah Rut dengan para pekerja dan Boas memberikan kepadanya jelai yang sudah dipanggang. Rut makan sampai kenyang, dan masih ada kelebihan makanan.
15 And sche roos fro thennus to gadere eeris of corn bi custom. Forsothe Booz comaundide to hise children, and seide, Also if sche wole repe with you,
Saat Rut mulai bekerja lagi, Boas memerintahkan para pekerjanya, “Biarkanlah dia memungut bulir-bulir jelai dari antara tumpukan jelai yang sudah terikat itu.
16 forbede ye not hir, and also `of youre handfuls caste ye forth of purpos, and suffre ye to abide, that sche gadere with out schame; and no man repreue hir gaderynge.
Bahkan bantulah dia dengan sengaja menjatuhkan bulir-bulir supaya dengan mudah dia dapat mengambilnya. Janganlah melarang ataupun menghentikannya!”
17 Therfor sche gaderide in the feeld `til to euentid; and sche beet with a yerde, and schook out tho thingis that sche hadde gaderid; and sche foond of barly as the mesure of ephi, that is, thre buschels.
Rut bekerja sepanjang hari mengumpulkan jelai, dan ketika mengirik hasil jelai itu, dia mendapatkan satu keranjang penuh— kurang lebih dua puluh dua liter.
18 Which sche bar, and turnede ayen in to the citee, and schewide to hir modir in lawe; ferthermore sche brouyte forth, `and yaf to hir the relifs of hir mete, with which mete sche was fillid.
Dia membawa pulang hasil irikan jelai dan memperlihatkan hasilnya kepada ibu mertuanya. Rut juga memberikan jelai panggang kelebihan dari makan siangnya.
19 And the modir in lawe seide to hir, Where `gaderidist thou to dai, and where `didist thou werk? Blessid be he, that hadde mercy on thee. And sche telde to hir, at whom sche wrouyte; and sche seide the name `of the man, that he was clepid Booz.
“Dari mana saja kamu mengumpulkan jelai sebanyak ini?” tanya Naomi. “Kamu bekerja di mana? Kiranya Tuhan memberkati dia yang memperhatikan kamu!” Rut kemudian menceritakan apa yang dia alami, mengenai pemilik ladang di mana dia bekerja. Dia berkata kepada ibu mertuanya, “Pemilik ladang di mana aku bekerja seharian adalah Boas.”
20 To whom Noemy answeride, Blessid be he of the Lord, for he kepte also to deed men the same grace, which he yaf to the quike. And eft sche seide, He is oure kynysman.
Dan Naomi berkata kepada Rut, “Kiranya TUHAN memberkati Boas! Karena ternyata Boas tetap setia kepada kita yang hidup, dan juga terhadap suami kita yang sudah meninggal. Dia adalah salah satu kerabat dekat— salah satu penanggung jawab keluarga kita.”
21 And Ruth seide, Also he comaundide this to me, that so longe Y schulde be ioyned to hise reperis, til alle the cornes weren repid.
Lalu Rut berkata, “Boas juga berkata supaya aku kembali untuk bekerja dengan para pekerjanya selama musim panen.”
22 To whom hir modir in lawe seide, My douyter, it is betere that thou go `out to repe with hise damysels, lest in another feeld ony man ayenstonde thee.
“Baiklah!” kata Naomi. “Lakukanlah apa yang sudah dia katakan, anakku. Bekerjalah dengan pekerja perempuan Boas selama musim panen. Kamu bisa saja diganggu orang bila kamu bekerja pada ladang milik orang lain.”
23 `Therfor sche was ioyned to the damesels of Booz; and so longe sche rap with hem, til bothe barli and wheete weren closid in the bernys.
Demikianlah, Rut tetap bekerja dengan para pekerja perempuan di ladang milik Boas sampai musim panen jelai berakhir. Sesudah musim jelai berakhir, Rut melanjutkan pekerjaannya dengan para pekerja Boas untuk mengumpulkan bulir gandum yang tercecer selama musim panen gandum. Dan dia tetap tinggal bersama ibu mertuanya.
