Psalms 89
1 The lernyng of Ethan, Ezraite. I schal synge with outen ende; the mercies of the Lord. In generacioun and in to generacioun; Y schal telle thi treuthe with my mouth.
| מַ֝שְׂכִּ֗יל לְאֵיתָ֥ן הָֽאֶזְרָחִֽי׃ חַֽסְדֵ֣י יְ֭הוָה עֹולָ֣ם אָשִׁ֑ירָה לְדֹ֥ר וָדֹ֓ר ׀ אֹודִ֖יעַ אֱמוּנָתְךָ֣ בְּפִֽי׃ |
2 For thou seidist, With outen ende merci schal be bildid in heuenes; thi treuthe schal be maad redi in tho.
| כִּֽי־אָמַ֗רְתִּי עֹ֭ולָם חֶ֣סֶד יִבָּנֶ֑ה שָׁמַ֓יִם ׀ תָּכִ֖ן אֱמוּנָתְךָ֣ בָהֶֽם׃ |
3 I disposide a testament to my chosun men; Y swoor to Dauid, my seruaunt,
| כָּרַ֣תִּֽי בְ֭רִית לִבְחִירִ֑י נִ֝שְׁבַּ֗עְתִּי לְדָוִ֥ד עַבְדִּֽי׃ |
4 Til in to with outen ende I schal make redi thi seed. And Y schal bilde thi seete; in generacioun, and in to generacioun.
| עַד־עֹ֭ולָם אָכִ֣ין זַרְעֶ֑ךָ וּבָנִ֨יתִי לְדֹר־וָדֹ֖ור כִּסְאֲךָ֣ סֶֽלָה׃ |
5 Lord, heuenes schulen knouleche thi merueilis; and thi treuthe in the chirche of seyntis.
| וְיֹ֘וד֤וּ שָׁמַ֣יִם פִּלְאֲךָ֣ יְהוָ֑ה אַף־אֱ֝מֽוּנָתְךָ֗ בִּקְהַ֥ל קְדֹשִֽׁים׃ |
6 For who in the cloudis schal be maad euene to the Lord; schal be lijk God among the sones of God?
| כִּ֤י מִ֣י בַ֭שַּׁחַק יַעֲרֹ֣ךְ לַיהוָ֑ה יִדְמֶ֥ה לַ֝יהוָ֗ה בִּבְנֵ֥י אֵלִים׃ |
7 God, which is glorified in the counsel of seyntis; is greet, and dreedful ouere alle that ben in his cumpas.
| אֵ֣ל נַ֭עֲרָץ בְּסֹוד־קְדֹשִׁ֣ים רַבָּ֑ה וְ֝נֹורָ֗א עַל־כָּל־סְבִיבָֽיו׃ |
8 Lord God of vertues, who is lijk thee? Lord, thou art miyti, and thi treuthe is in thi cumpas.
| יְהוָ֤ה ׀ אֱלֹ֘הֵ֤י צְבָאֹ֗ות מִֽי־כָֽמֹ֖וךָ חֲסִ֥ין ׀ יָ֑הּ וֶ֝אֱמֽוּנָתְךָ֗ סְבִיבֹותֶֽיךָ׃ |
9 Thou art Lord of the power of the see; forsothe thou aswagist the stiryng of the wawis therof.
| אַתָּ֣ה מֹ֭ושֵׁל בְּגֵא֣וּת הַיָּ֑ם בְּשֹׂ֥וא גַ֝לָּ֗יו אַתָּ֥ה תְשַׁבְּחֵֽם׃ |
10 Thou madist lowe the proude, as woundid; in the arm of thi vertu thou hast scaterid thin enemyes.
| אַתָּ֤ה דִכִּ֣אתָ כֶחָלָ֣ל רָ֑הַב בִּזְרֹ֥ועַ עֻ֝זְּךָ֗ פִּזַּ֥רְתָּ אֹויְבֶֽיךָ׃ |
11 Heuenes ben thin, and erthe is thin; thou hast foundid the world, and the fulnesse therof;
| לְךָ֣ שָׁ֭מַיִם אַף־לְךָ֥ אָ֑רֶץ תֵּבֵ֥ל וּ֝מְלֹאָ֗הּ אַתָּ֥ה יְסַדְתָּֽם׃ |
12 thou madist of nouyt the north and the see. Thabor and Hermon schulen make ful out ioye in thi name;
| צָפֹ֣ון וְ֭יָמִין אַתָּ֣ה בְרָאתָ֑ם תָּבֹ֥ור וְ֝חֶרְמֹ֗ון בְּשִׁמְךָ֥ יְרַנֵּֽנוּ׃ |
13 thin arm with power. Thin hond be maad stidefast, and thi riythond be enhaunsid;
| לְךָ֣ זְ֭רֹועַ עִם־גְּבוּרָ֑ה תָּעֹ֥ז יָ֝דְךָ֗ תָּר֥וּם יְמִינֶֽךָ׃ |
14 riytfulnesse and doom is the makyng redy of thi seete. Merci and treuthe schulen go bifore thi face;
| צֶ֣דֶק וּ֭מִשְׁפָּט מְכֹ֣ון כִּסְאֶ֑ךָ חֶ֥סֶד וֶ֝אֱמֶ֗ת יְֽקַדְּמ֥וּ פָנֶֽיךָ׃ |
15 blessid is the puple that kan hertli song. Lord, thei schulen go in the liyt of thi cheer;
| אַשְׁרֵ֣י הָ֭עָם יֹודְעֵ֣י תְרוּעָ֑ה יְ֝הוָ֗ה בְּֽאֹור־פָּנֶ֥יךָ יְהַלֵּכֽוּן׃ |
16 and in thi name thei schulen make ful out ioye al dai; and thei schulen be enhaunsid in thi riytfulnesse.
| בְּ֭שִׁמְךָ יְגִיל֣וּן כָּל־הַיֹּ֑ום וּבְצִדְקָתְךָ֥ יָרֽוּמוּ׃ |
17 For thou art the glorie of the vertu of hem; and in thi good plesaunce oure horn schal be enhaunsid.
| כִּֽי־תִפְאֶ֣רֶת עֻזָּ֣מֹו אָ֑תָּה וּ֝בִרְצֹנְךָ֗ תָּרִים (תָּר֥וּם) קַרְנֵֽנוּ׃ |
18 For oure takyng vp is of the Lord; and of the hooli of Israel oure kyng.
| כִּ֣י לַֽ֭יהוָה מָֽגִנֵּ֑נוּ וְלִקְדֹ֖ושׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל מַלְכֵּֽנוּ׃ |
19 Thanne thou spakist in reuelacioun to thi seyntis, and seidist, Y haue set help in the myyti; and Y haue enhaunsid the chosun man of my puple.
| אָ֤ז דִּבַּ֥רְתָּֽ־בְחָ֡זֹון לַֽחֲסִידֶ֗יךָ וַתֹּ֗אמֶר שִׁוִּ֣יתִי עֵ֭זֶר עַל־גִּבֹּ֑ור הֲרִימֹ֖ותִי בָח֣וּר מֵעָֽם׃ |
20 I foond Dauid, my seruaunt; Y anoyntide hym with myn hooli oile.
| מָ֭צָאתִי דָּוִ֣ד עַבְדִּ֑י בְּשֶׁ֖מֶן קָדְשִׁ֣י מְשַׁחְתִּֽיו׃ |
21 For myn hond schal helpe him; and myn arm schal conferme hym.
| אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָ֭דִי תִּכֹּ֣ון עִמֹּ֑ו אַף־זְרֹועִ֥י תְאַמְּצֶֽנּוּ׃ |
22 The enemye schal no thing profite in him; and the sone of wickidnesse schal not `ley to, for to anoye him.
| לֹֽא־יַשִּׁ֣א אֹויֵ֣ב בֹּ֑ו וּבֶן־עַ֝וְלָ֗ה לֹ֣א יְעַנֶּֽנּוּ׃ |
23 And Y schal sle hise enemyes fro his face; and Y schal turne in to fliyt hem that haten hym.
| וְכַתֹּותִ֣י מִפָּנָ֣יו צָרָ֑יו וּמְשַׂנְאָ֥יו אֶגֹּֽוף׃ |
24 And my treuthe and mercy schal be with him; and his horn schal be enhaunsid in my name.
| וֶֽאֶֽמוּנָתִ֣י וְחַסְדִּ֣י עִמֹּ֑ו וּ֝בִשְׁמִ֗י תָּר֥וּם קַרְנֹֽו׃ |
25 And Y schal sette his hond in the see; and his riyt hoond in flodis.
| וְשַׂמְתִּ֣י בַיָּ֣ם יָדֹ֑ו וּֽבַנְּהָרֹ֥ות יְמִינֹֽו׃ |
26 He schal inwardli clepe me, Thou art my fadir; my God, and the vptaker of myn heelthe.
| ה֣וּא יִ֭קְרָאֵנִי אָ֣בִי אָ֑תָּה אֵ֝לִ֗י וְצ֣וּר יְשׁוּעָתִֽי׃ |
27 And Y schal sette him the firste gendrid sone; hiyer than the kyngis of erthe.
| אַף־אָ֭נִי בְּכֹ֣ור אֶתְּנֵ֑הוּ עֶ֝לְיֹ֗ון לְמַלְכֵי־אָֽרֶץ׃ |
28 With outen ende Y schal kepe my merci to hym; and my testament feithful to him.
| לְ֭עֹולָ֗ם אֶשְׁמֹור־ (אֶשְׁמָר)־לֹ֣ו חַסְדִּ֑י וּ֝בְרִיתִ֗י נֶאֱמֶ֥נֶת לֹֽו׃ |
29 And Y schal sette his seed in to the world of world; and his trone as the daies of heuene.
| וְשַׂמְתִּ֣י לָעַ֣ד זַרְעֹ֑ו וְ֝כִסְאֹ֗ו כִּימֵ֥י שָׁמָֽיִם׃ |
30 Forsothe if hise sones forsaken my lawe; and goen not in my domes.
| אִם־יַֽעַזְב֣וּ בָ֭נָיו תֹּורָתִ֑י וּ֝בְמִשְׁפָּטַ֗י לֹ֣א יֵלֵכֽוּן׃ |
31 If thei maken vnhooli my riytfulnessis; and kepen not my comaundementis.
| אִם־חֻקֹּתַ֥י יְחַלֵּ֑לוּ וּ֝מִצְוֹתַ֗י לֹ֣א יִשְׁמֹֽרוּ׃ |
32 I schal visite in a yerde the wickidnessis of hem; and in betyngis the synnes of hem.
| וּפָקַדְתִּ֣י בְשֵׁ֣בֶט פִּשְׁעָ֑ם וּבִנְגָעִ֥ים עֲוֹנָֽם׃ |
33 But Y schal not scatere my mercy fro hym; and in my treuthe Y schal not anoye hym.
| וְ֭חַסְדִּי לֹֽא־אָפִ֣יר מֵֽעִמֹּ֑ו וְלֹֽא־אֲ֝שַׁקֵּ֗ר בֶּאֱמוּנָתִֽי׃ |
34 Nethir Y schal make vnhooli my testament; and Y schal not make voide tho thingis that comen forth of my lippis.
| לֹא־אֲחַלֵּ֥ל בְּרִיתִ֑י וּמֹוצָ֥א שְׂ֝פָתַ֗י לֹ֣א אֲשַׁנֶּֽה׃ |
35 Onys Y swoor in myn hooli;
| אַ֭חַת נִשְׁבַּ֣עְתִּי בְקָדְשִׁ֑י אִֽם־לְדָוִ֥ד אֲכַזֵּֽב׃ |
36 Y schal not lie to Dauid, his seed schal dwelle with outen ende.
| זַ֭רְעֹו לְעֹולָ֣ם יִהְיֶ֑ה וְכִסְאֹ֖ו כַשֶּׁ֣מֶשׁ נֶגְדִּֽי׃ |
37 And his trone as sunne in my siyt, and as a perfit mone with outen ende; and a feithful witnesse in heuene.
| כְּ֭יָרֵחַ יִכֹּ֣ון עֹולָ֑ם וְעֵ֥ד בַּ֝שַּׁ֗חַק נֶאֱמָ֥ן סֶֽלָה׃ |
38 But thou hast put awei, and hast dispisid; and hast dilaied thi crist.
| וְאַתָּ֣ה זָ֭נַחְתָּ וַתִּמְאָ֑ס הִ֝תְעַבַּ֗רְתָּ עִם־מְשִׁיחֶֽךָ׃ |
39 Thou hast turned awei the testament of thi seruaunt; thou madist vnhooli his seyntuarie in erthe.
| נֵ֭אַרְתָּה בְּרִ֣ית עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ חִלַּ֖לְתָּ לָאָ֣רֶץ נִזְרֹֽו׃ |
40 Thou distriedist alle the heggis therof; thou hast set the stidefastnesse therof drede.
| פָּרַ֥צְתָּ כָל־גְּדֵרֹתָ֑יו שַׂ֖מְתָּ מִבְצָרָ֣יו מְחִתָּה׃ |
41 Alle men passynge bi the weie rauyschiden him; he is maad schenschipe to hise neiyboris.
| שַׁ֭סֻּהוּ כָּל־עֹ֣בְרֵי דָ֑רֶךְ הָיָ֥ה חֶ֝רְפָּ֗ה לִשְׁכֵנֽ͏ָיו׃ |
42 Thou hast enhaunsid the riythond of men oppressinge him; thou hast gladid alle hise enemyes.
| הֲ֭רִימֹותָ יְמִ֣ין צָרָ֑יו הִ֝שְׂמַ֗חְתָּ כָּל־אֹויְבָֽיו׃ |
43 Thou hast turned awei the help of his swerd; and thou helpidist not hym in batel.
| אַף־תָּ֭שִׁיב צ֣וּר חַרְבֹּ֑ו וְלֹ֥א הֲ֝קֵימֹתֹ֗ו בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ |
44 Thou destriedist him fro clensing; and thou hast hurtlid doun his seete in erthe.
| הִשְׁבַּ֥תָּ מִטְּהָרֹ֑ו וְ֝כִסְאֹ֗ו לָאָ֥רֶץ מִגַּֽרְתָּה׃ |
45 Thou hast maad lesse the daies of his time; thou hast bisched him with schenschip.
| הִ֭קְצַרְתָּ יְמֵ֣י עֲלוּמָ֑יו הֶֽעֱטִ֨יתָ עָלָ֖יו בּוּשָׁ֣ה סֶֽלָה׃ |
46 Lord, hou longe turnest thou awei in to the ende; schal thin ire brenne out as fier?
| עַד־מָ֣ה יְ֭הוָה תִּסָּתֵ֣ר לָנֶ֑צַח תִּבְעַ֖ר כְּמֹו־אֵ֣שׁ חֲמָתֶֽךָ׃ |
47 Bithenke thou what is my substaunce; for whether thou hast ordeyned veynli alle the sones of men?
| זְכָר־אֲנִ֥י מֶה־חָ֑לֶד עַל־מַה־שָּׁ֝֗וְא בָּרָ֥אתָ כָל־בְּנֵי־אָדָֽם׃ |
48 Who is a man, that schal lyue, and schal not se deth; schal delyuere his soule fro the hond of helle? (Sheol h7585)
| מִ֤י גֶ֣בֶר יִֽ֭חְיֶה וְלֹ֣א יִרְאֶה־מָּ֑וֶת יְמַלֵּ֨ט נַפְשֹׁ֖ו מִיַּד־שְׁאֹ֣ול סֶֽלָה׃ (Sheol h7585) |
49 Lord, where ben thin elde mercies; as thou hast swore to Dauid in thi treuthe?
| אַיֵּ֤ה ׀ חֲסָדֶ֖יךָ הָרִאשֹׁנִ֥ים ׀ אֲדֹנָ֑י נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתָּ לְ֝דָוִ֗ד בֶּאֱמוּנָתֶֽךָ׃ |
50 Lord, be thou myndeful of the schenschipe of thi seruauntis, of many hethene men; whiche Y helde togidere in my bosum.
| זְכֹ֣ר אֲ֭דֹנָי חֶרְפַּ֣ת עֲבָדֶ֑יךָ שְׂאֵתִ֥י בְ֝חֵיקִ֗י כָּל־רַבִּ֥ים עַמִּֽים׃ |
51 Whiche thin enemyes, Lord, diden schenschipfuli; for thei dispisiden the chaungyng of thi crist.
| אֲשֶׁ֤ר חֵרְפ֖וּ אֹויְבֶ֥יךָ ׀ יְהוָ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר חֵ֝רְפ֗וּ עִקְּבֹ֥ות מְשִׁיחֶֽךָ׃ |
52 Blessid be the Lord with outen ende; be it don, be it don.
| בָּר֖וּךְ יְהוָ֥ה לְ֝עֹולָ֗ם אָ֘מֵ֥ן ׀ וְאָמֵֽן׃ |
