Psalms 75

1 `To the ouercomere; leese thou not the salm of the song of Asaph. God, we schulen knouleche to thee, `we schulen knouleche; and we schulen inwardli clepe thi name.

Per il Capo de’ musici. “Non distruggere”. Salmo di Asaf. Canto. Noi ti celebriamo, o Dio, ti celebriamo; quelli che invocano il tuo nome narrano le tue maraviglie.

2 We schulen telle thi merueilis; whanne Y schal take tyme, Y schal deme riytfulnesses.

Quando verrà il tempo che avrò fissato, io giudicherò dirittamente.

3 The erthe is meltid, and alle that duellen ther ynne; Y confermede the pileris therof.

Si dissolva la terra con tutti i suoi abitanti, io ne rendo stabili le colonne. (Sela)

4 I seide to wickid men, Nyle ye do wickidli; and to trespassouris, Nyle ye enhaunce the horn.

Io dico agli orgogliosi: Non vi gloriate! e agli empi: non alzate il corno!

5 Nyle ye reise an hiy youre horn; nyle ye speke wickidnesse ayens God.

Non levate il vostro corno in alto, non parlate col collo duro!

6 For nether fro the eest, nethir fro the west, nethir fro desert hillis; for God is the iuge.

Poiché non è dal levante né dal ponente, né dal mezzogiorno che vien l’elevazione;

7 He mekith this man, and enhaunsith hym; for a cuppe of cleene wyn ful of meddling is in the hoond of the Lord.

ma Dio è quel che giudica; egli abbassa l’uno ed innalza l’altro.

8 And he bowide of this in to that; netheles the drast therof is not anyntischid; alle synneris of erthe schulen drinke therof.

L’Eterno ha in mano una coppa, ove spumeggia un vino pien di mistura. Egli ne mesce; certo, tutti gli empi della terra ne succeranno e berranno le fecce.

9 Forsothe Y schal telle in to the world; Y schal synge to God of Jacob.

Ma io proclamerò del continuo queste cose, salmeggerò all’Iddio di Giacobbe;

10 And Y schal breke alle the hornes of synneris; and the hornes of the iust man schulen be enhaunsid.

spezzerò tutta la potenza degli empi, ma la potenza de’ giusti sarà accresciuta.
