Psalms 53

1 To the ouercomer bi the quere, the lernyng of Dauid. The vnwise man seide in his herte; God is not. Thei ben `corrupt, and maad abhomynable in her wickidnessis; noon is that doith good.

Instrução de Davi, para o regente, sobre “Maalate”: O tolo diz em seu coração: Não há Deus. Eles se corrompem, e cometem abominável perversidade, ninguém há que faça o bem.

2 God bihelde fro heuene on the sones of men; that he se, if `ony is vndurstondynge, ether sekynge God.

Deus olhou desde os céus para os filhos dos homens, para ver se havia alguém prudente, que buscasse a Deus.

3 Alle boweden awei, thei ben maad vnprofitable togidre; noon is that doith good, ther is not til to oon.

Todos se desviaram, juntamente se fizeram detestáveis; ninguém há que faça o bem, nem um sequer.

4 Whether alle men, that worchen wickidnesse, schulen not wite; whiche deuouren my puple as the mete of breed?

Será que não tem conhecimento os praticantes de maldade, que devoram a meu povo, [como se] comessem pão? Eles não clamam a Deus.

5 Thei clepiden not God; there thei trembliden for drede, where no drede was. For God hath scaterid the boones of hem, that plesen men; thei ben schent, for God hath forsake hem.

Ali eles terão grande medo, [onde] não havia medo; porque Deus espalhou os ossos daquele que te cercava; tu os humilhaste, porque Deus os rejeitou.

6 Who schal yyue fro Syon helthe to Israel? whanne the Lord hath turned the caitifte of his puple, Jacob schal `ful out make ioie, and Israel schal be glad.

Ah, que de Sião venha a salvação de Israel! Quando Deus restaurar seu povo de seu infortúnio, Jacó jubilará, Israel se alegrará.
