Psalms 53

1 To the ouercomer bi the quere, the lernyng of Dauid. The vnwise man seide in his herte; God is not. Thei ben `corrupt, and maad abhomynable in her wickidnessis; noon is that doith good.

Al Capo de’ musici. Mestamente. Cantico di Davide. Lo stolto ha detto nel suo cuore: Non c’è Dio. Si sono corrotti, si son resi abominevoli con la loro malvagità, non v’è alcuno che faccia il bene.

2 God bihelde fro heuene on the sones of men; that he se, if `ony is vndurstondynge, ether sekynge God.

Iddio ha riguardato dal cielo sui figliuoli degli uomini per vedere se vi fosse alcuno che avesse intelletto, che cercasse Iddio.

3 Alle boweden awei, thei ben maad vnprofitable togidre; noon is that doith good, ther is not til to oon.

Tutti si son tratti indietro, tutti quanti si son corrotti, non v’è alcuno che faccia il bene, neppur uno.

4 Whether alle men, that worchen wickidnesse, schulen not wite; whiche deuouren my puple as the mete of breed?

Son essi senza conoscenza questi operatori d’iniquità, che mangiano il mio popolo come mangiano il pane, e non invocano Iddio?

5 Thei clepiden not God; there thei trembliden for drede, where no drede was. For God hath scaterid the boones of hem, that plesen men; thei ben schent, for God hath forsake hem.

Ecco là, son presi da grande spavento, ove prima non c’era spavento; poiché Dio ha disperse le ossa di quelli che ti assediavano; tu li hai coperti di confusione, perché Iddio li disdegna.

6 Who schal yyue fro Syon helthe to Israel? whanne the Lord hath turned the caitifte of his puple, Jacob schal `ful out make ioie, and Israel schal be glad.

Oh chi recherà da Sion la salvezza d’Israele? Quando Iddio farà ritornare gli esuli del suo popolo, Giacobbe festeggerà, Israele si rallegrerà.
