Psalms 49
1 To victorie, a salm to the sones of Chore. Alle ye folkis, here these thingis; alle ye that dwellen in the world, perseyue with eeris.
Pour la fin, aux fils de Coré, psaume. Écoutez ces choses, vous toutes, nations: prêtez l’oreille, vous qui habitez l’univers;
2 Alle the sones of erthe and the sones of men; togidere the riche man and the pore in to oon.
Vous tous, fils de la terre, et fils des hommes, ensemble et de concert, riche et pauvre.
3 Mi mouth schal speke wisdom; and the thenkyng of myn herte schal speke prudence.
Ma bouche parlera sagesse, et la méditation de mon cœur, prudence.
4 I schal bouwe doun myn eere in to a parable; Y schal opene my resoun set forth in a sautree.
J’inclinerai mon oreille à une parabole, et je révélerai sur le psaltérion mon sujet.
5 Whi schal Y drede in the yuel dai? the wickidnesse of myn heele schal cumpasse me.
Pourquoi craindrai-je au jour mauvais? Je craindrai si l’iniquité de ma voie m’environne.
6 Whiche tristen in her owne vertu; and han glorie in the multitude of her richessis.
Qu’ils craignent ceux qui se confient dans leur puissance, et se glorifient dans l’abondance de leurs richesses.
7 A brother ayenbieth not, schal a man ayenbie? and he schal not yyue to God his plesyng.
Un frère ne rachète pas son frère: un homme étranger le rachètera-t-il? il ne donnera pas à Dieu de quoi l’apaiser pour lui-même,
8 And he schal not yyue the prijs of raunsum of his soule; and he schal trauele with outen ende,
Ni le prix du rachat de son âme: et il travaillera éternellement.
9 and he schal lyue yit in to the ende.
Et il vivra encore jusqu’à la fin.
10 He schal not se perischyng, whanne he schal se wise men diynge; the vnwise man and fool schulen perische togidere. And thei schulen leeue her richessis to aliens;
Il ne verra pas la mort, lorsqu’il aura vu les sages mourir: l’insensé et le fou périront également. Et ils laisseront à des étrangers leurs richesses.
11 and the sepulcris of hem ben the housis of hem with outen ende. The tabernaclis of hem ben in generacioun and generacioun; thei clepiden her names in her londis.
Et leurs sépulcres seront leurs maisons pour toujours. Et leurs tabernacles dans chaque génération; quoiqu’ils aient donné leurs noms à leurs terres.
12 A man, whanne he was in honour, vndurstood not; he is comparisound to vnwise beestis, and he is maad lijk to tho.
Et l’homme, lorsqu’il était en honneur, ne l’a pas compris: il a été comparé aux animaux sans raison, et il est devenu semblable à eux.
13 This weie of hem is sclaundir to hem; and aftirward thei schulen plese togidere in her mouth.
Cette voie qu’ils suivent est une pierre d’achoppement pour eux-mêmes, et néanmoins dans la suite ils se complairont dans leurs discours.
14 As scheep thei ben set in helle; deth schal gnawe hem. And iust men schulen be lordis of hem in the morewtid; and the helpe of hem schal wexe eld in helle, for the glorie of hem. (Sheol h7585)
Comme des brebis, ils ont été parqués dans l’enfer: c’est la mort qui les paîtra. (Sheol h7585)
15 Netheles God schal ayenbie my soule from the power of helle; whanne he schal take me. (Sheol h7585)
Mais cependant Dieu rachètera mon âme de la main de l’enfer, quand il m’aura pris sous sa protection. (Sheol h7585)
16 Drede thou not, whanne a man is maad riche; and the glorie of his hows is multiplied.
Ne craignez pas lorsqu’un homme sera devenu riche, et que la gloire de sa maison se sera accrue.
17 For whanne he schal die, he schal not take alle thingis; and his glorie schal not go doun with him.
Parce que, lorsqu’il sera mort, il n’emportera pas tous ses biens; et que sa gloire ne descendra pas avec lui.
18 For his soule schal be blessid in his lijf; he schal knouleche to thee, whanne thou hast do wel to hym.
Car son âme, pendant sa vie, sera bénie: il vous louera, lorsque vous lui aurez fait du bien.
19 He schal entre til in to the generaciouns of hise fadris; and til in to with outen ende he schal not se liyt.
Il ira rejoindre les générations de ses pères, et durant l’éternité, il ne verra pas la lumière.
