Psalms 4
1 `To the victorie in orguns; the salm of Dauid. Whanne Y inwardli clepid, God of my riytwisnesse herde me; in tribulacioun thou hast alargid to me.
Au Maître-chantre. — Avec instruments à cordes. — Psaume de David. Quand je crie, réponds-moi, ô Dieu de ma justice! Toi qui, à l'heure de l'angoisse, mets mon coeur au large, Aie pitié de moi et entends ma prière!
2 Haue thou mercy on me; and here thou my preier. Sones of men, hou long ben ye of heuy herte? whi louen ye vanite, and seken a leesyng?
Fils des hommes, jusques à quand ma gloire sera-t-elle outragée? Jusques à quand aimerez-vous la vanité, Et rechercherez-vous le mensonge? (Pause)
3 And wite ye, that the Lord hath maad merueilous his hooli man; the Lord schal here me, whanne Y schal crye to hym.
Sachez que l'Éternel s'est choisi un homme qui l'aime: L'Éternel m'entend, quand je crie vers lui.
4 Be ye wrothe, and nyle ye do synne; `and for tho thingis whiche ye seien in youre hertis and in youre beddis, be ye compunct.
Si vous êtes irrités, ne péchez point! Parlez en vos coeurs sur votre couche, et gardez le silence!
5 Sacrifie ye `the sacrifice of riytfulnesse, and hope ye in the Lord; many seien, Who schewide goodis to vs?
Offrez vos sacrifices d'un coeur sincère, (Pause) Et confiez-vous en l'Éternel.
6 Lord, the liyt of thi cheer is markid on vs; thou hast youe gladnesse in myn herte.
Nombreux sont ceux qui disent: «Qui nous fera voir le bonheur?» Fais lever sur nous la lumière de ta face, ô Éternel!
7 Thei ben multiplied of the fruit of whete, and of wyn; and of her oile.
Tu as mis dans mon coeur plus de joie qu'ils n'en éprouvent. Quand ils ont en abondance du blé et du vin.
8 In pees in the same thing; Y schal slepe, and take reste. For thou, Lord; hast set me syngulerli in hope.
Je me coucherai et je m'endormirai en paix; Car même quand je suis seul, ô Éternel. Tu me fais reposer en sécurité.
